17 Chapter 16 - Alpha X

After assigning himself to the mission, Dominic went about finalizing their plans and making sure there wasn't any miscalculations.

Dominic's is well known for meticulous behaviour, it is one of the reasons why he gained his position in the first place, he never left any room for errors, especially when lives were dependent on him. Whilst Dominic was reviewing the operation again with Michael, a call came through.

"Alpha 1, the Secretary General is on the line"

Dominic immediately stood up and took the phone from his comrade and spoke.

"Secretary General" answered Dominic.

"Alpha 1, mission update" a man with a stern deep voice replied.

"Sir, my team and I are ready to go. Intel has informed us that the rebels' security system is quite complexed, but I should be able to decode it".

Dominic was cold yet clam and respectful in his response, even through he was speaking with one of the countries most powerful men, he was never one to get easily intimidated.

"Good, I will send over your new identifications, have Alpha 2 prepare the team's weapons, send him to headquarters, the team there have finalized project core. Another thing I want a clean operation, no traces left, it's vital we get the prisoners back this one isn't like the others so be prepared", Commanded the Secretary General.

Dominic did not add to his words and only commented with "Copy" before disconnecting the call.

He then turned to Michael and his team and relayed the message given by the Secretary General.

"Alpha 2, the Secretary General needs you at headquarters, for the rest of you we're moving out on Tuesday at zero hundred hours, we are expecting a clean operation no survivors, our mission is to retrieve the prisoners and experimental documents from the lab, anyone disagreed".

Dominic dictated clearly, while standing in-front of his team and Michael a few steps behind him, both with their hands held behind their backs and with faces stern and serious.

"NO SIR, YES SIR !" The team shouted and again saluted.

Dominic again sternly ordered them to "stand down" and the team dispersed. He then turned to Michael and order him to his private office.

In his office, Dominic asked Michael, "What did you find out about the experiments, what are they trying to do?"

"Alpha X gene" Michael responded, and at that moment the atmosphere in the room became solemn, both men was well aware of this deadly program.

Rumours had it that various political governments was earnestly trying to create what they called a "super army". Over the years there have been various wars between the countries, even a period of slavery between the nations, no-one was safe and nowhere was safe. Alphas leaders around the world fought against each other to win dominance, to prove their countries and army forces was the strongest.

During these times Dominic and Michael was drafted at 16 to join the army, after they showed exceptional talent, they were placed in the special Ops team, tasked with the role of infiltrating other countries by disbanding and assassinating political leaders who was seen as a threat.

After a short pause, Michael continued.

"From what I have found, there has been a series of omega kidnappings and enslavements. They have been injecting omegas with the Alpha X gene serum and mating them with alpha soldiers. This mission is especially important as the scientist involved is Dr Pychard Popovitch, the geneticist. He was kidnapped three years ago, and it's said that he's formulated the Alpha X serum. So far, all the offspring being born hasn't carried the Alpha X gene, but it's only a matter of time"

"This is why the Secretary General is so involved in this mission, they want Dr Popovitch, if they get their hands on him, they will use him just the same, this isn't a rescue mission it's to gain power". Dominic added.

He felt conflicted, the world was still trying to piece its self together again, and through there was peace treaties in place, the political parties were still at odds with each other, always seeking means and ways to gain the upper hand, the thought of them possibly getting their hands on the Alpha X gene serum was terrifying, having an army full of the world's most powerful Alphas, would mean bring even more bloodshed.
