13 Bringing Hell to the Bride

"Everyone, get ready!" Lin Kun raised Huaban and let its white glare serve as a signal for everyone. He waited for the first shadows of the ruthless, mindless corpses to come into the light of the torches set around the perimeter beforehand. "Fire!"

As he swept his sword down, some disciples used their water-wielding techniques and spewed oil all over the ground at the distance. Some corpses were even covered in it. The black goo did not stall them for one bit, even though some corpses had slipped. The green meadows outside the city of Huayuan had turned into black, and the grass had lost its luster.

Since they were mindless, the corpses knocked over three of the torches, setting fire to the oil. They had no idea that the ones behind them were suddenly enveloped with a fierce red blanket that incinerated them. These corpses trailed behind some oil, the roaring flames quickly catching up with them despite their speed. Most of the first corpses burned swiftly from the trap.

The corpses feel no pain, and so they were only confused when they noticed that they were on fire. It was only noticeable since their body parts had turned into ash. Once the body turned into ash, the corpses would break free from the 'Bride's curse. There was nothing left to curse. Aside from the blinding smoke and flames, the stench of burning rotten meat made the night more atrocious.

Amidst the red, black liquid-like smokes came from their bodies. These things assaulted the disciples upfront, but Sun Yin activated the dolls to suck them in without difficulty. The first phase of the trap continued to decimate the first few creatures that crossed the land.

Since she had been overconfident, it took too long for the impostor to notice that the corpses were being burned down. It was too late to turn them back into normal fierce corpses for her to command. She bit into her lip and performed hand seals again before unleashing a line of talismans stitched together unto a string. The writing lit up and produced gusts of wind.

The wind pushed the corpses forward and fanned the flames towards the Huayuan Lin disciples. Some of them shielded their brothers and sisters with protection arrays, but corpses flew towards them as well. The other disciples used fire arrays, blasting the corpses away. The dolls continued sucking in dark energy, but they were not enough to contain everything.

Ominous sounds came from the dolls as they trembled uncontrollably. The disciples guarding the line looked behind them, terrified of the faces the dolls began to make. The demonic energy gathered from the Cinder Army was too much for paper dolls to handle. The maiden who devised the plan stared at the dolls. Too weak for her beloved children.

The corpses had passed the second line, and the disciples had no choice but to repel them manually. Lin Kun led the attack, cutting down the corpses with Huaban on one hand while Xiangwei raged around him. The disciples in offense squads had either used their swords remotely or had gone to fight personally. The defense squad continued to hold their protection arrays in place.

"Sun Yin!" Lu Bang called out to the woman as he noticed that one of the dolls had ripped its face. He turned to where she was, noticing her glare towards the dolls. He did not have to say it; she already knew the dolls would not make it.

Sun Yin pulled out another talisman and wrapped it around Buyue's handle. She used the sword to cut along her palm, bleeding all over the talisman. She then threw her sword towards Lin Kun. "Lin Kun! Visualize the clones! You can make as many as you can handle!"

With an acrobatic move after dodging a corpse, Lin Kun caught Fenqi and held on its handle. He stared at the blade's glare, feeling the rage inside the sword. He threw Huaban and Fenqi in the air before performing hand seals as if unleashing his power. The rest of the disciples cleared the area, afraid of being caught in the crossfire.

Lin Kun unlocked his power which was sealed for convenience. Instead of only three flying swords, what enveloped him were dozens of blades. With his full power in use, he was able to create more clones that Sun Yin would ever dare. He was a sword master so controlling the swords were nothing to him. For a moment, Sun Yin discovered a reason why he was hailed to be next Chief Cultivator if Xu Niu leaves the mortal world.

However, it was inevitable for Xiangwei and Huaban to be untainted by the dark energy pulsating from Fenqi. The sword clones formed quite a face before Lin Kun, with the other original two serving as its eyes. One moment, the swords had posed as if introducing themselves; the next, they drove themselves through the corpses. Likewise, how Sun Yin would command Buyue in his full power, Lin Kun had to perform a dance with the blades. He gracefully moved like a leaf dancing in the wind, and even Sun Yin's sensual dance had nothing on it. Buyue's [Skin Dance] had been truly upgraded, throwing away dozens of corpses in mid-air with their limbs severed to immobility.

"I swear to the Heavens—I'm so glad to be awake right now!" Sun Yin could not help but to yell as she watched the master of the cultivation sect known for their sword mastery. She wondered if his predecessors were as good as he was. Then again, the image of Lin Guang dancing like so haunted Sun Yin's imagination.

She ran to the backlines just to find Lu Bang. She took a hard stop next to him, and before he could speak, she spun as she removed her clothes and stacked them on his head. The disciples distracted enough to have their eyes stray froze at her actions. Why would someone strip in the middle of a battle?!

The males had their eyes almost bulge out as Sun Yin left herself in her purple dudou and matching short skirt. The women got their words stuck in their throats, seeing the smoothness of her skin.

Lu Bang managed to take the clothes off of his face, and he started yelling out as he saw what she looked in front of him, "What the hell, Sun Yin?!"

Instead of answering, Sun Yin only winked at Lu Bang. She shook her bleeding hand to get rid of the trailing blood. She then performed a series of hand seals. On her flawless back left exposed by her dudou drew lines as if characters were being carved into her skin. The lines started to bleed, but Lu Bang only stepped back to keep the blood from sputtering onto the clothes that she gave him. As if finished, Lu Bang recognized the characters on her back.

It was the same with the Evil Sealing Dolls! She was going to absorb the dark energy herself!

"I won't be able to move all that much. Pray that Master Lin would be able to kill everything." Sun Yin made the final seal.

A scream came from her body but not her mouth. A surge of power pulsed through the ground. Sun Yin raised her head and opened her mouth. The dolls ripped apart, and the dark energy was sucked in through her open mouth. Lu Bang kept on stepping back as the winds around her grew fiercer.

"For someone to do this to her own body… in the name of revenge…" Lu Bang whispered as he watched her absorb the dark energy coming from the dying corpses. Instead of fear and awe, he looked at her with pity. He fought the urge to cover her and stop her back from bleeding any further.

From a distance, Lin Kun saw what was happening. He frowned as he grew confused by her actions. Such a dangerous technique to perform just to protect strangers. However, if this was the woman that their father knew, perhaps this was a reason why he kept her things from the person who was posing as the Bride of Corpses. For the real Bride was righteous. Perhaps also downright shameless.

The impostor was frozen. She had no idea what to do anymore. Her supposed undefeated army was laying waste in front of the master of the Lin sect and a mysterious woman who had command over a demonic beast and the Lin sect. Was she a woman of the master? What was her name? Which sect did she come from?!

To think about it, where did the Huiqi Tiger go?

It was too late to realize that the Huiqi Tiger was missing. The impostor turned behind her to take a look, only to stare directly into its dying eye. A scream came from the woman as she tried to avoid the beast, but the cat managed to bite more than air at that time. The impostor could care less about her torn hanfu, inner robe, and dudou, but she was devastated by the deep gash from the beast's sharp teeth. Blood trailed down her body, but she only cared about the scar it would leave on her chest.

"Your master will pay for this!" She turned away and escaped, leaving her army to perish under the blades of Buyue.
