11 Beasts that Devour the Dead pt 2

It took him minutes to regain his consciousness. He found himself suspended from the ground. The leader of the entourage stared at the hole he made when he was sent flying from the paws of the cat. He could see a barrier that kept his brothers inside. The woman and the Lin sect disciple was standing on the other side, watching the cat slaughter his brothers.

"That array…" he spoke with a very soft voice.

Suddenly, he felt his feet touch something underneath. He looked down and saw Huaban pressing itself against the soles of his shoes. It was as if he was being picked up by the sword. It was inviting him to stand on it. The leader did, but his broken body was too weak.

His legs gave out the moment he stood on the sword. He slipped down, but the sword adjusted itself to catch him. He grabbed the handle of the sword, only to notice the talisman wrapped around it. He could not take a good look, but he knew something was there. Moving was out of the question anyway.

Huaban brought the leader next to the queen and her human throne. It then floated nearby the man as if a guard watching over a prisoner. He looked at the woman who was amused by the helplessness in the Xu sect disciples' faces. He noticed Lu Bang was making quite an uneasy face as well.

"Why are you doing this? Are you trying to make the Huayuan Lin sect and the Heici Xu sect fight?!" The man tried to raise his voice, making himself known to the surviving brothers.

"Not at all. I'm just feeding a pet of mine." Sun Yin did not even bother looking at him. "Besides, lowlifes like you don't deserve being in the Heici Xu sect to begin with. Now that Xu Fanren and Xu Daopian are gone, I might as well help them weed their sect."

"Who do you think you are?!" The man tried to stand, only to be knocked down by the sword next to him.

The maiden looked at the man over Lu Bang's back. She fixed a glare at the man. "I'm the force that keeps the Society in check. Now that someone was ambitious enough to steal my stuff, I shall get them all back." She patted the sword inside the bag that was tied to her chest like a baby the entire time. "Starting from these."

The man scowled at the maiden. He then looked at the array. It had gone down, and the cat had turned towards their direction, finishing the meal given to it by the maiden. It reached out its paw and hooked the leader's collar with its claw. It lifted the struggling man, so high up it was about to swallow him whole.

Before it could, an arrow pierced through the finger of the cat. It screamed from the pain and hurled the man away from them. The leader was thrown past the forest, towards the marching army coming from the mountains. It did not take long for Sun Yin to know it was people from Heici.

However, instead of normal disciples, what marched were fierce corpses. They were led by a figure adorning a blood red hanfu. She was also sporting a bird mask, just like how Sun Yin roamed the land during the Fall of the First Society. No matter how much the impostor matched the descriptions of the people, they never had the same body type.

Sun Yin's body belonged to a twenty-year-old woman who had never outgrown her childish dream of exacting revenge. The impostor was a voluptuous sculpture; her cleavage even peeked from the lapel of her hanfu. She was too meaty to be the Bride, and yet no one would argue that she was not the Bride... for her breasts were too big.

In a way, it was offensive to Sun Yin's average body. She was known to be married to the kings for being an exceptional beauty and not a walking lewd pillow. Her rage did not show on her face, and yet Lu Bang could feel it through her nails that dug into his shoulder.

On the impostor's hand was the leader. He was barely hanging onto the flying sword the 'Bride' was standing on. His collar was caught in her hand, but he thought he was safer clinging on the flying sword.

Without a word, the fierce corpses went to attack the cat and the duo. Lu Bang hopped on Huaban and had Sun Yin levitate them out of reach. The furious Bride reached into her sleeves again, but she only had a few talismans left. She ended up throwing them to the Cinder Army instead.

A hand seal came from her, and the talismans exploded into pink smokes. The corpses that were enveloped by the smoke stopped moving. Paralysis spells. The cat knew that these corpses were harder to kill, but it saw them freeze on their tracks. Desperate for food, it went and clashed with them, scooping as many corpses as it could with its mouth.

"How insolent," the woman in the bird mask exclaimed. The leader of the entourage was the only one who could have heard her. "Kill them!" She swiped her hand, and the corpses moved faster and wilder.

"How dare you make me lose?!" Sun Yin gasped as she watched the Cinder Army launch an attack.

Lu Bang had no idea what she meant by that.

Sun Yin unwrapped the cloth on her chest, releasing Buyue and the Gold Orb. She squeezed the Gold Orb with her fist, breaking the shard and collecting the power that came with it. She felt rather stronger with it, but it did not erase her frustration. She swiped her arm and commanded Buyue to multiply and clear the corpses on the ground. Each flying limb and part was not spared by the hungry cat.

"You should be ashamed!" Sun Yin screamed as the sword and the cat tear through the lines of the Cinder Army. She ended up slamming her fist against Lu Bang's shoulder. "You! You! Ah, you shall perish! Get someone else who doesn't lose!"

Ah, she was worried about tearing her own reputation. In the eyes of people who might be watching, it was the Bride of Corpses who cannot stand against a mysterious woman from the Huayuan Lin sect.

Instead of a feared gesture, the impostor left the leader of the entourage to his own devices. She used both hands and performed a series of hand seals. Sun Yin could see the seals she was doing despite the speed; however, she did not know what the impostor was trying to do. It was too late when she noticed that her Cinder Army was reacting to the hand seals.

Her beloved children started growing darker and darker. Their grayish complexion turned into pitch-black, with their eyes raging like candles in the night. Their hands had become sharper, and their breaths had become toxic. The Huiqi Tiger started backing away in fear.

"What have you done?" Sun Yin whispered, eyes stricken with misery. Not for herself, but for the souls trapped inside the bodies of those men.

What happened was a forbidden dark art that even Sun Yin dared not touch. It was a complete transformation of one's tormented soul into pure malicious dark energy. This kind of corpses was hard to control; they wreaked havoc to anything with Yang energy burning inside of them. They would even attack their owners. However, if left loose on a battlefield, they would annihilate anyone in the area.

Such a group would be considered level seven if they needed a higher rank for a threat!

Sun Yin could only stare at the fierce corpses as she watched them run towards them. Lu Bang hopped on Huaban and rode it as it took them away. Even the Huiqi Tiger ran away from the raging corpses. It followed the maiden back to Huayuan, the destination of the marching corpses.

Lin Kun was sitting restlessly behind his table, worried about his brother outside his protection. He had not felt Huaban for a long time, making him feel so uneasy. However, when he was about to dip his quill into the ink well, he noticed that the black liquid was rocking. In complete silence, he felt the ground shaking.

He got up from his seat and moved around the sect temple, seeing the disciples running around with panic-stricken faces. He ran into Lin Dong on his way to the balcony of the temple.

"Lin Dong! What is happening?" He frowned at the situation at hand.

"A Demonic Beast is spotted from afar. It's running towards the city." The senior disciple sighed as he patted the master's shoulder. "Get ready to fight again, Master Lin." He left in a hurry.

Lin Kun scowled at the reaction. Why was he not informed as soon as they saw the beast? He ran to the balcony and gasped at the giant going their way. He held onto the handle of Xiangwei, praying for it to help them get through the night.
