8 City

"Hey Yuri! Where are you going?" Shinji asked as he came up besides me.

"Inner city. Are you done with your classes?" I asked.

"No, I have two more. They are both after one o' clock" Shinji replies.

"Want to have lunch with me then? You have about an hour," I said, putting my phone into my pocket.

"Alright. Do you know where to go?" Shinji asks.

"I was planning on figuring that out when I get there… Yeah, I don't know where I'm going," I answered.

Laughing, Shinji offered to take me to a place that he knows.

We didn't have to wait long for the bus to come. A few minutes later, Shinji and I were on our way into the city. I've personally never gotten the chance to check it out myself so it felt very exciting for me. When the bus finally stopped and we got off, I was amazed by what I saw. Tall skyscrapers could be seen in the distance. Hundreds of people were bustling around. Little shops and stores can be seen from anywhere. This place almost looks like it could come straight out from a drama.

After a moment of admiring my surrounds, Shinji asked me to follow him. We eventually came to a tiny restaurant that was nestled between a small grocery store and a Boba shop. Inside, we each ordered our meals and sat down to wait for them.

"How come you know this place?" I questioned as we settled into our seats.

"My mom is Chinese and she actually lives near here so she often takes me out to eat. This was one of her favorite restaurants so I started coming here a lot too," Shinji answers as he looks out the window.

"I'm just surprised you can find your way around here. I probably would've gotten lost the moment I stepped off that bus," I said jokingly.

"Haha, good thing I came with you, huh?" Shinji replied, laughing.

Our orders were done in no time and we chatted as we ate. Soon, an hour passed and Shinji had to go back for classes.

"I'll head back now," Shinji said as he put away his wallet.

"Alright, I guess I'll hang around a little longer," I replied as we walked out the door.

"Just don't get lost, Yuri," Shinji said, chuckling to himself.

"Yeah, yeah I know. See you tomorrow," I said, waving my hand.

After Shinji disappeared around the corner, I decided to explore the city a bit more. Walking down the street, I spotted all different kinds of stores and even some outdoor vendors. I ended up buying a few things including some groceries and a black cap that was being sold for only 15 yuan on the street. Taking a look at my phone, I decided it was time to head back to the university.

Walking out of my last class, I felt pretty confident about my days here. Maybe I just freaked out too much. No one has found out about my secret. The classes weren't actually that difficult to understand and the courses were quite easy. I just hope tomorrow's the same. Deep in thought, I didn't notice that a red sports car had pulled up in front of me until it honked. Snapping back to my senses, I watched as the window rolled down and a woman looked out. Spotting me, she took off her sunglasses. I immediately recognized who this person was, it was Zi Li, Mr. Han's soon to be fiance. What does she want with me?
