40 late for the party

After they planned for the new venture, they all happily finished dinner.

"Anna, you and Evelyn go and set music in the other house. Alex and Bella will go and cook some simple midnight snacks.

I am going to help the mother in taking medicines." said Mike holding the wheelchair.

"Who needs your help, go and enjoy. I am fine here." said aunt Sharron slapping his hands.

"Oww, mother." he faked pain, "it hurts."

His mother snorted and said, "what are you, a five-year-old kid, hmph"

"No matter how old I am, I am always your kid," he said acting cutesy and moving the wheelchair in the room.

"Then I will hit you even after your kids." aunt Sharron replied laughing.

"Then they will hit me to mother, have some mercy on me," he replied pouting, entering the room.

Alex and Anna just shook their head, aunt Sharron always treat Mike with brooms and sticks, but there was no doubt that she loved him the most.

"Come Evelyn lets go," said Anna holding her hand.

Evelyn looked at Bella, she did not want to go with Anna and Bella, so she smiled brightly, " Alex, you are the one who cooks every time. Why not give me a chance this time. I and Bella will cook, you can go and set the music or rest for a while."

"How can this be, you are a guest here, we can not ask guests to cook or do any other difficult tasks," said Alex shaking his head and Anna nodded supporting her brother.

"Huh, but Bella is also cooking with you," she asked bewildered. How could she be a guest and this demon could go and cook.

"Oh, Bella is not a guest here, she is family." said Anna and Alex nodded, "she is part of this home," added Alex holding Bella's hand and taking her towards the kitchen.

What he did not know is that this simple gesture of his short-circuited all the wires of Bella's mind.

She felt like her mind was not working anymore. It would blast any moment as her hand felt heated where he was touching her.

Her body was feeling many sensations, like small ants were crawling on her whole body.

Even Evelyn was stunned by their declaration on the other side, she only came to her senses when their silhouette had already disappeared from there.

"Come Evelyn, let's choose music, oh god, this old computer was not working again," said Anna clicking on the play button in the old computer.

"It looks very old Anna, don't you have a music system?" asked Evelyn looking at the worn-out machine.

"Nah, brother mostly stays at work, and I live in a dorm so we don't need all these things mostly," replied Anna shrugging her shoulders.

"Oh, alright," said Evelyn clearly knowing that it was just an excuse.

She knew their history and their condition like she knew about everyone in the world.

Her system had knowledge of every house. Their parents' poor souls did not have their time to leave the world, yet they lost their lives. It's all because of the demon they were keeping their house.

If only they knew, would they ever forgive her, much less love her so much.

"Yes, finally it worked," exclaimed Anna and in the next second the room was filled with merry songs of festivities.

Evelyn finally came out of her thoughts listening to the songs humans had made for them. She smiled at the innocent soul, she did not like to lie to them or use them but she did not have any other method.

She closed her eyes and took deep breaths to control her thoughts and keep herself focused.

"Let us go arrange the carpet and pillows, we will play bottle game in a circle," said Anna walking towards the hall, there was 4 seater sofa with cushions and in the centre, there was an old coffee table, Anna and Evelyn moved the coffee table to the side and put the cushions on the floor.

Then Anna went into the room and brought three more pillows,

"I am going to brother Mike house to bring more." with that she sprinted towards the floor.

That was the chance she was looking for, she walked towards the kitchen where Alex was serving cupcakes and burgers on plates.

"Bella, Anna is calling you in the hall for a minute," said Evelyn reaching there.

Bella blinked her eyes and narrowed them at Evelyn. She knew Evelyn was lying yet nodded but then her eyes fell on the man who was there with her.

For the first time in her life, she was losing courage to face the future, she did not want to leave Alex there. She herself did not understand why she was acting that way.

"It's okay, the work is already finished. Go and enjoy otherwise Anna will come barging in to drag you from here.

I will be joining you in a jiffy." he said giving her a bright smile.

She bit her lip and nodded walking towards the amused mother elf, who was looking towards them with interest.

"Come dear, we have to go." said mother elf, extending her hand which Bella took reluctantly.

They both walked out of the kitchen but did not reach the room, instantly vanishing into the air.

They both appeared in an empty ground at a deserted area, in the darkest corner of the city, there were only large trees surrounding them.

"So demon tell me what are you trying to do?" said mother Evelyn coming in her real form.

Her hairs grew long, nose and ears turned pointy. And her cheeks turned rosy. She was the fairest creature of the earth. Her sharp green eyes were set on Bella who was still in her human form.

But before Bella could reply they heard a chuckle behind them. They turned back to hear footsteps coming in their direction.

"Looks like I am right on time for the party."
