Sticky situation

My hazy eyes fluttered open. Everything was upside down, the trees, the grass, everything. It also seemed I was no longer in the clearing but between some trees with a creek flowing by. It was night time.

I felt something constricting me of movement, and when I struggled, it just got tighter.

I recalled sleeping under that upturned tree. I attempted to look at what I was stuck in. I saw long, white threads stretching across my body, and they connected between the two trees I was on.

'Oh no...'

{There is a much stronger beast close by.}

'Humans didn't dominate the animals because of strength, right? They dominated because of smartness, I'm sure I can kill a spider.'

{Mana is constantly being applied to these threads, so you won't be able to get out.}

I cursed internally but felt something poke me. With great effort, I strained to see a giant spider, much bigger than you could imagine, walk on me. It was like a tarantula, expect more deadly and bigger mandibles and a lot of eyes.

I decided to check my status and see what skills could be useful as the spider started weaving more webs around me.

I skipped everything and went straight to skills, wasting no time looking for a good skill. [Nibble] could work, then I could jump to the floor and [Hop] away combining it with [Dash]. I wonder what (low) means. Does that mean there is a level cap and then the skill evolves? I'm not sure.

I felt another prick, jolting me out of my thinking. I decided to start then, cause the spider looked like it was about to bite me any second now.

Using [Nibble], I started chewing on the threads. They didn't taste like anything and my nibble didn't work anyway.

Finally the spider opened its mandibles, clicking as it inches down towards my face. I was upside down, struggling.

Big mandibles struck down, worse that getting stabbed. The mandibles struck on my furry neck, probably injecting poison.

'So I have about ten seconds to live? Wow.'

Using [Nibble] I bit as hard as I could on the spider. The spider didn't have [Spider Armor] activated so it was easy to crush its skin. With a screech it pulled back, and I noticed a momentarily lack of mana in the threads.

Using this chance, I burst out of the web and landed on my butt. Combining [Dash] with [Hop] I leaped towards the spider and used [Kick] with my hind legs and fell on the ground on my butt again.

As the spider fell, something savage took over me and I used [Dash] to close the distance and finished it all with [Nibble] to the neck.

'How.. did I do that?' The pain had faded away, and I felt refreshed and healthy, probably the cause of levelling.

{Simple. The Black Widow Spider was weakened due to applying mana to its threads. Since you bit it, it reacted with a reflex, and you took the opportunity to use your skills to kill it in its confusion. I would recommend eating the corpse}

'I'm not ready to eat it yet. Maybe I'll drag it back.' I thought. Though I saw what the voice was saying. I killed it because it was weak due to making its threads stronger. Weird.

'Aye, Syndria, could you direct me back to the clearing?'

A map appeared, showing me as a cursor and there was a glowing circle on the mark some ways away from me.

Like most game maps, the place I haven't explored were blacked out.
