Parting

The next morning, Ru Ran was quiet, she knew she could not escape the discharge today. She felt a little sad to part with the sickly boy and nice lady. She kept her head down the whole time, thinking about her future. She knew her step grandmother hated her family. Her uncle and his pregnant wife also dislikes her family. That is why her father rather bring them to visit the Matriach home once grandfather passed away. Grandfather relationship with father had always been strained but amiable. However, grandfather had always treated her with sincerity. Mummy was neutral towards grandfather but did not show any extra affection for the rest of the family.

Her uncle had arrived with his wife to pick her up, she quietly packed her things and decided to accept her fate as it is. Her aunty in law, Chan Pei Sia, eyes were red and swollen, acted very loving in front of the people in the room, they even brought along some reporters. Such good acting, she snorted quietly to herself.

"Why are you still standing there, come and give your favourite aunty a big hug, you poor little girl?" she spoke as she stifled a few blocks.

"Aunt and uncle, can you please all wait outside with everyone else? I will be out in awhile. My friend here is unwell and needs his rest," she said ignoring her aunt's gesture.

The reporters were surprised by the maturity she portrays. This is how a heiress truly behaves. Straight to the point and decisive. They were in awe with him. Madam Shen wo was about to chase all the good for nothing people out of the ward was satisfied by the little girl's behaviour. She will later speak to the hospital director for the lack of security and discretion. She had the guards withdrawn because currently, they shared a room, so it was not appropriate for her to place her guards outside.

Feeling slighted by the little girl, the beautiful mask her aunt had put on crumbled for a moment before she realised she was still in public. Looks like this little minx won't be easy to deal with. In all honesty, they had rarely interacted. Du Wen Hai had no choice but to drag his wife and the team out of the room. He could sense two hostile aura coming towards him. He suddenly remember that the hospital director did remind him not to cause any trouble to the people in that suite.

Ru Ran was satisfied with the outcome but she knew once they arrived home, she will be reprimanded. Oh well, whatever she does, she will definitely not please any one of those people. Better to act willful and unruly with them. She suddenly wondered about her nanny, sister Fong, a glint suddenly flashes through her eyes, yes, she must depend on herself to survive.

She then made a formal bow to Madam Shen. Madam Shen grabbed her instead and gave her a big hug. She also slipped her a ward of bills (money) in her small palm. Madam Shen whispered for her to take care of herself and hide the money well and to use it for emergency. Ru Ran then approached the boy, she gestured for him to come closer by bending forward to her. She then planted a small kiss on his cheek causing him to blush.

Damn, I had been taken advantage off again, thought the little boy but in all honesty, he really did not mind at all.

"Get well soon, okay? I am leaving. Thanks for everything," she whispered.

Madam Shen was enjoying the scene in front of her. She never knew her son has a soft and shy side. She laughed in her heart, she will need to report to her husband about this.

Ru Ran was oblivious to her uncle's mood, she took her own sweet time to say her goodbyes and packed her not many things. Finally, after dilly dallying, she emerged out of the room. Without waiting for anyone, she walked away straight to the entrance with a straightvand graceful posture. Everyone scrambled to chase after her. Once in front of the hospital entrance, she stood there, waiting for the crowd to arrive.

Her uncle and aunt were the last to arrive, their face red from anger and embarrassment. Ru Ran acted like she did not see their dark expression. Instead, she asked in a puzzled tone, "Uncle, why are you here instead of my parents and Sister Fong? Mummy and Daddy don't want me anymore?"

Just after speaking, huge crocodile tears were released from her eyes. She looked so pitiful that even strangers have the urge to come up and embrace her to console her. Du Wen Hai then cleared his throat and spoke in hesitation, "Uncle has an announcement to make today, and it is not your parents don't want you, it is just that they were badly injured by the crash that caused your injury and they can't be here any longer. God has taken them away."

His explanation caused her to cry more but without much sound. Occasionally a stifled sobs can be heard. The truth is, Ru Ran is heart broken by the news, she knew about it but no one had actually confirmed it, so when her uncle mentioned it, it was like a confirmation of event. The tears that are flowing are true tears of sadness and loss.
