Fate

Du Ru Ran was only five years old when she lost her parents in a car crash. Her late mother was heavily pregnant with her younger brother. Her mother's water broke and they were on the way to the hospital when the accident occurred. The fact she was strapped properly in the child's car seat was the reason she survived the crash with minor injuries. She suffered from minor scratches on her legs and hands from the broken windows. Both of parents died on the spot.

From that day onwards, her life took a 180 degrees turn. That year was truly a bad year for her because the people who genuinely love and pampered her died. She was left to fend for herself in a den full of vicious wolves.

The nurses had just informed that her uncle was on the way to take her home from the hospital. The nurses kept looking away when she asked for her parents. They had a look of pity in their eyes. She did not remember much because something flew towards her head and knocked her out, all she remembered was waking up in the hospital. Judging by their behaviour, she knew her something bad had happened to her parents. She heard hushed whispers on how pitiful she is to lose her parents at such young age.

Understanding the situation, the tears that were falling came to an abrupt stop. Tears would not bring them back to life. Instead she had to think of ways to delay her uncle from taking her back. She dislikes this uncle of hers and his family. She knew that her peaceful days were coming to an end as soon as she followed her uncle back.

As she was wallowing in sadness, she realised a pair of eyes were on her being, it made her felt self conscious and stopped her crying. She looked up and saw him looking at her. She shared a room with a boy who seemed to be a year or two older than her. Beside him was a gentle looking lady, who smiled at her gently and asked her if she needed anything. The boy appeared sick and had lots of tubes connected to him. However, his sickness could not rob him of his good look and the determined look in his eyes.

The hospital was short of beds because of her parents accident, it had caused a chain reaction causing a pile up 10 vehicles. It was a massive accident, two buses were overturned as well and many were injured. The hospital they were staying in was the nearest to the accident site. Both of them were supposed to be placed in VIP suite but due to the bed shortage they had to be placed together. This is just how fate works in its mysterious ways and forms.

After staring at him a good two minutes, she looked down at her own body and figure. Maybe she is not so pitiful after all. At least she has good health. She subconsciously touched her bandaged forehead and it started to throb lightly. She winced in pain a little but swallowed all of the bitterness she is feeling. Her parents are no longer here to pamper her. She wiped away the remaining tears in her red and swollen eyes, sucked in her snots, and wiped those tears that stained her face.

The boy was surprised by the change of emotions of the girl sitting across him. Her eyes that initially were dull and lifeless became sharp and bright. His thoughts was disrupted by a nurse who entered to check on the little girl. He was shocked because that little girl started to wail out loud clutching her head after she heard the nurse spoke. The doctors immediately rushed in because of the ruckus.
