25 PROTECTIVE MAD DOG
A sudden coldness hit her core upon recognizing one of them. It was Red. Her heart banged against her chest as she saw him thrusting a man hard at the fence with his bare hands like a weapon of destruction.
The other man was choking and struggling to breathe as Raigon's cold hands were suffocating the air out of him. He strove to remove Raigon's mighty arms but could not do so against the steel-like bar on his neck.
"Is he the lifeguard that I knew? Even though we just met a few times, I could not imagine him being a murderer," These thoughts filled Zoe's mind who's confused in utter shock right now.
Feeling suddenly dizzy and her knees wobbling, she held on to the wall next to her and watched at the horrendous brawl.
"Let's get out of here," Erin clamped her mouth as she gripped Zoe's arms, forcing her to escape.
In her mind, she preferred to run, but her feet went frozen as ice. Her eyes couldn't blink, scared to miss on what might happen to him.
She overheard mumbled words from Raigon, but she couldn't hear it from their position. She drew nearer, with faint footsteps, leaving the shaken Erin behind.
As she approached them, the details became clearer as though it was the day.
"Who sent you?!" Raigon growled through clenched teeth as he grilled the man in front of him, piercing his eyeballs with his dagger eyes.
The man grasped Raigon's arms in desperation as if he was holding on to him for dear life. In doing so, he may have hoped he could protect himself from this ferocious giant who could lift him high off the ground in any second.
"L-Lady Zhou!" he croaked through his choked neck.
Zoe clamped her mouth as she gasped in shock. 'Why was Lady Zhou involved with this?'
"Who is Lady Zhou?!" his thunderous voice deafened them as he hoisted him higher from the ground. With his vicious demeanor, he would not think twice before killing him.
Realizing his demise, the man stopped struggling and let himself hang loose, faking a faint. But in reality, he was pulling something from his pocket.
Zoe penetrated through this attempt. In a flash, she screamed with all her might. "WATCH OUT!"
She didn't care if she became involved in this mess or her body placed in jeopardy. She just couldn't let someone die in front of her!
In a split second after hearing Zoe's voice, Raigon swung back in full force. He didn't even consider or look about what's happening.
However, the knife which the man wielded to plunge at Raigon, grazed his forearm, leaving an avenue for his blood to trickle down.
By instinct, Raigon stepped back as he put pressure on his arm to stop the waterfall of blood from cascading.
Zoe's knees couldn't take it anymore. As much as she wished to remain calm and strong, she collapsed at the sight of her recent acquaintance's arm soaked in his lifeblood.
"Are you all right?!" Raigon ran towards her at lightning speed, not minding his grisly condition.
As if he was not hurt at all, he picked up and supported her to stand. The previous assaulting mad dog changed into a protective guard as soon as he saw his master in distress.
Seeing the perplexity of his assailant, the man grabbed the opportunity and ran away like a bat from hell.
Raigon was about to run after him, but Zoe blocked him.
"Don't," she pleaded with a firm tone and clenched jaw, but her eyes were revealing the opposite. They were welling up with tears, begging him to stay behind.
She knew he needed to chase the man and know why he was following them. They can be in even more danger now that he has escaped. But she just can't let him risk his life.
His previous rigid stance relaxed as he heard that urging word from her earnest lips.
Seeing her victory, she stood up. At full tilt, she lifted up Raigon's blood-soaked arm as an intervention to prevent it from bleeding.
Afterward, she yanked his other arm and pulled him as she strutted back towards Erin.
"Ouch!" Raigon winced and glared at Zoe as she dragged him away. She gave him back a death stare.
