13 Attending the meeting

Wu Jinyan was also in the country's entertainment industry, she was still a beginner. Her position was similar to a dust particle before a legendary person who ruled the music circle in the country for more than half a decade.

Li Xiaoyi was overseas for two years and had no recent works in the country, but she was still considered as a popular celebrity with the continuous support she had from her loyal fans.

Wu Jinyan's mind was bursting with joy as she thought she could talk to that celebrity singer who's songs she enjoyed the most in her high school days until she noticed the manner how the scene before her unfolded.

The light in her eyes dimmed hearing the words said by Li Xiaoyi. Was her look really that horrendous? But her present appearance was all a facade.

However, Wu Jinyan still felt she had degraded Gu Zichen's image before others by getting dressed like a horrific person.

Just then, Li Xiaoyi asked with revulsion and hatred evident in her eyes. "You...wild creature..tell me how much you got paid to act as his wife? I'll pay you double. Just get out of my sight"

Seeing the menacing expression on Li Xiaoyi's face, Wu Jinyan flinched. Her heart started to palpitate erratically with panic as though she was stuck in a vicious trap. She clearly sensed the threat directed towards her.

Wu Jinyan suddenly had a familiar feeling on seeing the level of hostiliy expressed by Li Xiaoyi and the gaze filled with disgust.

For a second, Wu Jinyan thought she had seen Wu Meihua's shadow passing through Li Xiaoyi.

Back then, Wu Meihua had the same threatening look on her face and deployed several schemes to destroy her marriage with Mo Shen.

Wu Jinyan moved in from her haunted past. she was not really bothered about her past as she already dusted most of those heartbreaking moments from her memeories to start a new life with a peaceful mind and strong heart.

But again on seeing Li Xiaoyi, she did not know why she had a strong gut feeling that she would suffer another disaster. She didn't want to lose this man.

It's not that she was still the same old naive, young girl from the past to get dragged down easily but she was suddenly feeling uneasy and scared to stand in the same space as Li Xiaoyi.

Wu Jinyan clutched Gu Zichen's suit jacket tightly, and buried her head into his chest with her eyes wavering in fear. 

Gu Zichen was content and satisfied with the heartbreak he caught in Li Xiaoyi's eyes and laughed internally seeing her pale disposition. But with her crossing the lines and insulting Wu Jinyan, he lost his cool "Shut up...Li Xiaoyi"

He was also afraid Li Xiaoyi would spout something unnecessary and make Wu Jinyan feel even more uncomfortable.

Sensing the tug on his suit, he looked down at Wu Jinyan's small face crashed into his chest. Her tiny face clearly presented the pain she was feeling in her heart. Without thinking about anything else, Gu Zichen quickly brought her out of his office, leaving Li Xiaoyi alone. 

"Boss...the meeting about the latest product..."

Chen Fei who was standing outside the office room tried to remind but he stopped speaking on noticing the furrowed brows and rage in Gu Zichen's dark eyes. 

He silently followed the couple until they reached the elevator.

Wu Jinyan was already grateful that Gu Zichen didn't mind her appearance unlike how Li Xiaoyi regarded her as a wild creature and she couldn't let Gu Zichen to delay his work because of her. She released herself from Gu Zichen's arms and waved her hand "Alright. I'm alright. You can go, do your work"

Assistant Chen was finally relaxed and tried to speak again about the meeting but he heard Gu Zichen say "I'll send you home first"

"Don't... I came here by myself and will go back by myself" Wu Jinyan tried to stop Gu Zichen from wasting his time on her but with the stubbornness on his face, she thought for a second before saying with anticipation "Then, can I attend the meeting?"

"You want to attend the meeting?" Gu Zichen looked at her with disbelief. He never expected she would request for something simple after asking for a limited edition car.

Wu Jinyan didn't think much and replied honestly "Yeah...I heard business meetings are really boring and you will become sleepy as soon as the lights go out in the room. I already slept in classrooms so many times but never tried sleeping in a meeting room"

Her innocent face already made him to agree to her request and on hearing her answer completely, Gu Zichen couldn't help but chuckle. It was his first time to encounter someone craving to sleep in a meeting room. 

Gu Zichen nodded his head and immediately turned to glare at Chen Fei who was still laughing.

"Sorry Boss. But Madam is really funny" Chen Fei told struggling to control his laughter.

The group of people seated inside the meeting room stood up to greet Gu Zichen. But as their gaze fell on Wu Jinyan, the staff were bewildered. 

From which planet did this crazy character come from? Having a non staff person in the meeting room was already a rare incident. Moreover, the person was standing right next to their boss and also dressed in an utterly terrific manner. What's her identity?

Since their boss was not giving any introduction, the personnel looked at each other and silently took their seats.

Wu Jinyan sat at a far corner of the room and looked around. It was more or less similar to the settings she watched on television.

Even though she lived with Wu family in the past, she never had a chance to get involved in complicated business matters. She was made to live a simple, mechanical life of a student. A rotational cycle of learning stuff and producing good results. 

Now that she was really in a business meeting, she wanted to know what these people usually report.

She saw a man speak some complex terms regarding market and other stuff and then play a advertisement as a way to publicize the product.

Wu Jinyan did not care about what the employee said but as she watched the clip playing on the screen, she laughed loudly holding her stomach.

The other members looked at her as if looking at a brainless idiot. They were afraid their boss would be angered and throw a tantrum.

To their surprise, Gu Zichen wasn't angered and merely curled his finger and beckoned Wu Jinyan to walk up to him.

Wu Jinyan who was laughing alone stiffened on noticing the weird gazes pointed at her and then with Gu Zichen calling her, she became so nervous she wanted to run out of the room. How could she be stupid? She laughed disregarding that she was in a proper official meeting.

With Gu Zichen staring at her, she had no choice but to walk towards him.

Chen Fei originally thought his boss would scold Wu Jinyan like how he usually fires up on other employees. He breathed in relief when he saw Gu Zichen merely stand behind the chair and made Wu Jinyan to sit in his seat.

Chen Fei was relatively relaxed while the other members in the meeting room were astonished.

Who exactly was this mad woman for their high headed boss to act this strange? He gave his seat to a woman like a true gentleman.

How unusual!

Gu Zichen made the staff member to play the advertisement again and on watching the clip, Wu Jinyan just chuckled, this time her laughter was rather much controlled.

Watching her actions, Gu Zichen asked "What's funny with the advertisement? Is there something wrong in it?"
