58 Chapter 58

Joon's car cut through the night, the journey leading him back to his house. With determination in his eyes, he formulated a plan, intent on securing the necessary gear for his upcoming task. Upon arrival, he wasted no time, swiftly delving into his wardrobe in search of suitable attire. Retrieving a thick jacket with a hood and a black mask, he concealed his identity, shrouding himself in anonymity.

Delving deeper into his closet, Joon retrieved a pistol and a set of knives procured from SW. Though reluctant to resort to such measures, he deemed them necessary for his protection. Securing the weapons at his side, he ensured they remained hidden from prying eyes, mindful of the consequences of being caught with unauthorized firearms. With his preparations complete, Joon emerged from his house, his resolve unwavering as he made his way to his car, ready to embark on his mission to Congressman Kim's house.

It was late into the night when Joon arrived near Congressman Kim's residence. Parking his car at the side of the road, he paused to assess the situation before proceeding. With caution, he ventured closer to the house, taking care to remain concealed as he scoped out the surroundings. From his vantage point, he observed the presence of guards stationed around the property. While Joon possessed the skills to easily infiltrate the premises, he opted for a more covert approach, intent on obtaining incriminating files implicating Heejin and Kisoo without drawing attention to himself.

Surveying the area, Joon considered his options, his gaze settling on the rear of the house. Though fortified by high walls, Joon remained undeterred, confident in his ability to overcome such obstacles. However, the possibility of surveillance cameras gave him pause, prompting him to seek an alternative route. Casting his eyes about, he searched for a suitable vantage point, eventually alighting upon a nearby tree. Determined, Joon made his way towards it, preparing to ascend in search of a strategic perch.

"A pity I don't have binoculars with me," Joon lamented internally, his gaze fixed on the distant target. Surveying the area meticulously, he scoured for signs of security cameras and guards patrolling the vicinity. After spending considerable time analyzing their movements, he discerned a pattern. "There are fewer cameras at the back compared to the front, and the guards rotate every hour. The back part of the house seems less heavily guarded," he noted to himself.

With his observations in mind, Joon sprang into action. Concealing himself so that only his eyes were visible, he descended to ground level and sprinted towards the towering walls surrounding the house. As he approached, he assessed his options for scaling the barrier. Opting for a bold maneuver, he took a few steps back, building momentum before launching himself towards a nearby pillar. With a powerful thrust from his foot, he propelled himself upwards, reaching higher than he thought possible. Gripping the top of the wall, he hoisted himself over with ease, landing gracefully amidst the foliage below. Though the impact caused a slight rustling, it went unnoticed by the absent guards, providing Joon with the cover he needed to proceed undetected.

In the cover of darkness, Joon found himself in a favorable position. Despite the dim lighting, he knew that avoiding the security cameras was paramount. His eyes scanned the area, assessing the positions of the cameras above him. With careful consideration, he calculated the blind spots within their surveillance range. After a brief moment of analysis, he identified a crucial blind spot that provided access to the entrance of the house, a vital discovery that could facilitate his infiltration.

Moving with stealth and precision, Joon navigated through the foliage, his movements deliberate and soundless. As he reached the designated blind spot, he emerged from cover and made a silent dash towards the door. With a swift motion, he grasped the door handle and turned it, finding to his surprise that it was unlocked. "They must be fools not to secure their doors," he mused inwardly, momentarily grateful for their oversight. However, in his haste to execute his mission, Joon had neglected to equip himself with the necessary tools for bypassing locked doors. It was a critical oversight, one that threatened to derail his plans and serve as a sobering reminder of the importance of thorough preparation in any operation.

Fortune favored Joon as he slipped past the guards and residents unnoticed, his movements shrouded in stealth as he infiltrated the premises. Inside the darkened interior of the house, he proceeded with caution, his footsteps silent against the floorboards. It appeared that the occupants were either asleep or absent, affording Joon the opportunity to navigate the house with relative ease. As he ascended the staircase, he noted the absence of security cameras, alleviating some of the pressure of remaining undetected.

Approaching one of the doors upstairs, Joon turned the handle with care, easing it open inch by inch. Peering into the room, he observed a figure slumbering peacefully, surrounded by scattered dumbbells strewn across the floor. With a cautious glance around, Joon ventured further into the room, only to find it devoid of the items he sought. "This must be Kisoo's room," he surmised silently, his disappointment palpable. Dismissing the room as a dead end, he quietly withdrew and resumed his search in other quarters of the house, determined to uncover the elusive laptop he sought.

Stepping into the adjacent room, Joon's movements were deliberate and silent, his senses attuned to any sign of danger. Peering cautiously into the dimly lit space, his gaze fell upon the figure of Heejin, peacefully slumbering before him. A surge of malice coursed through Joon as he beheld her, his fingers instinctively curling around the grip of the concealed pistol hidden on his jacket.

With calculated precision, Joon raised the weapon, his aim fixed upon Heejin's sleeping form. Every fiber of his being screamed for retribution, his finger hovering over the trigger, poised to unleash the destructive force contained within the firearm. Time seemed to slow to a crawl as he deliberated his next move, the weight of his vengeance heavy upon his shoulders.

As seconds stretched into eternity, Joon's resolve hardened, his finger applying gentle pressure to the trigger. Yet, in the depths of his turmoil, a sudden awareness gripped him, a realization that to succumb to this impulse would unravel all he had worked to achieve. With a sharp intake of breath, he steeled himself against the tide of fury threatening to consume him.

Relief washed over Joon like a cleansing tide, the tension in his muscles dissipating as he gradually lowered the pistol from its lethal trajectory. With each controlled exhalation, he wrestled the tempest of emotions raging within him, mindful of the delicate equilibrium between vengeance and prudence. As his heartbeat steadied, he reclaimed dominion over his faculties, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the mission at hand. With a final, resolute breath, he closed the door quietly, restoring the room to its former state of calm.

Meanwhile, in the depths of her slumber, Heejin stirred as if roused by an unseen force. A fleeting flicker of awareness danced across her features as she emerged from the realm of dreams. Sensing a subtle shift in the atmosphere, she turned towards the doorway, her gaze sweeping the room in search of any sign of intrusion. Yet, as swiftly as the sensation had come, it dissolved into the recesses of her subconscious, dismissed as naught but a passing wisp of imagination. And with a resigned shrug, she surrendered once more to the embrace of sleep.
