55 Death is filled with mercy

"Is this true?!" The elder asked everyone within the proximity of me.

His voice was so loud that everyone was able to hear him clearly, and for some reason, my body froze for a bit after I had heard his words.

My mind didn't freeze however, and other than the little mutterings of 'Oh my, someone's mad…' inside my head, I didn't feel any fear for him. I wasn't really a Scaredy cat after all, because like... I play a damn bunch of horror games! What do you expect?! A man talking so furiously is not much worse than a raging Karen to me! With that said, you should be able to understand why I am not that easily intimidated, right?

Anyway… Looking around me, I can see that I was truly someone special. That's because, unlike me, everyone was trembling their piss out, due to the amount of fear that they had for the elder. Was the reason for their fear due to some type of skill perhaps? A skill like those of the killing intent kinds that I've read about in the eastern novels. Hmm…

"Y-ye-yes Elder. But we didn't mean harm, and just wanted to see junior's amazing martial skills…"

Finally! Someone decided to open their damn mouth! I was so tired of waiting, and I also didn't want to say or do anything that was simply too unnecessary, since I simply feared the chances of the situation straying away from my favor.

"I see… How selfish! It was a death battle, and your junior brother could've died!" The elder was fuming due to his rage, because the disciple's words were too outrageous.

"I-uh…"

"We-uh…"

The crowd had no way of defending themselves for what they did. They were at fault, and there was no other choice for them but to take on the elder's rage and kiss his leg in order to receive his favor.

*Cough* *Cough* "It's also a challenge that I didn't even accept."

Nonetheless, even if the situation seemed already quite dire for the disciples, I still felt like there had to be more spice...

"The two outsiders simply attacked me out of nowhere!" I continued to add more fuel to the flames.

"Elder! Do they not respect our sect?! Can they really belittle our sect just like this, by showing us that they can come here and kill whenever they want?!" Hehehe… More fuel to the fire! A fire that will not go towards me, but towards a thick forest that is filled with hidden treasures! Muahahaha!

"What?! How dare they!" The temperature within the area began to change. Cough Cough... Did I literally add fuel to the fire?

That's right! This time, the elder was super angry... Maybe I was seeing things, but I swear that I could see a red and purple-ish gas like aurora leaving his old looking body.

Yep, things were definitely about to go down…

"Ahh!" All of a sudden, pained screams came out of the mouths of the two outsiders.

They were getting tortured by an unknown force, and as a result of the torture, they looked more miserable than the time when I hitting the soul out of them.

It made me wonder...

'Is this the power of this world… Amazing…' Instead of being afraid, I was simply mesmerized.

The outsiders, they were getting crushed by an invisible force... Their body that is so strong, was easily getting squeezed by a thought alone! How amazing was that?! Well… not as amazing as the powers in fiction of course… It still was amazing for me to see something so supernatural in front of me though!

Not only were their body getting squeezed though, but after a minute of them screaming from the horrible pain that even I could feel, the elder continued on with a type of torture that was even worse.

Their skin… It started tearing and becoming thinner and thinner as a result. It was a horrible sight to see for sure…

Their blood seeping out of every part of their body…

Their eyelids disappearing and their eyes bleeding…

Truly horrible, but honestly, I didn't really feel any sympathy for the two…

'Am I not human?' I wondered, because for some reason, I was not able to feel bad after seeing the cruel sight that was happening in front of me.

No! Torturing them is not right! I knew that I had to be someone better than that! To be a person that is full of mercy!

'I should stop the elder…' I thought desperately, as I had finally found the enlightenment that I needed.

"Elder Xuan! Stop!" I yelled out loud in order for the old man to be able to hear me.

"Huh? I told you that they would get a well deserving punishment if they tried to kill you, didn't I?" The elder was annoyed by my interruption.

"Yes. But, doing what you do might worsen the situation. Violence isn't always the answer, especially in this situation!" I told the old man, and honestly, I think I might have sounded quite like a hero that was full of foolish justice.

"Oh…" The elder was a bit interested in what I had to suggest. "How do you assume I deal with them then? With words? Our sect's reputation will definitely not be tarnished any further!"

"No, not wo-"

"Listen. I know you haven't killed anyone before, but in this world, doing that is the only way we can grow. The demons, corrupted cultivators, and demon worshipers. If you don't learn to be tough to be able to harm someone, you will not be able to survive in this cruel world!" The old man gave me his advice.

It seems that even though the old man was angry, he was still quite the understanding type person...

"Order me to kill them." I stated right after his words, not caring about the fact that he might interrupt me again. After all, if someone can't seem to be able to listen to what you have to say, you should just say it anyway, so that they're forced to hear it.

"Huh?" The elder was confused after hearing my suggestion, because it was the complete opposite of what he thought I wanted to say.
