[Congratulations to the host for leveling up to level 8.]

"Ha.. ha.. Level eight? Good, only two levels remain now." Zephyrion said as he extract the beast core from the dead creature before him.

He has spent more than three hours in this forest, dispatching various beasts that cross his path, with a majority of them being the Serphide. Zephyrion had noticed that these serpent-like creatures appear to be common in this area, scattered everywhere throughout the forest.

"Thirty more minutes. I will leave this place. It's almost daybreak." Zephyrion said as continue to move deeper into the forest.

Over the hours, he had analysed he was not the only person here. Every here and then, there were fresh beast corpses he would spot on the ground and also human dead bodies.

Zephyrion walked for another five minutes when he spotted something strange. Before him were three human dead bodies and strangely, they all died in the same way.

All of them had their head chopped off their necks! In fact, it was cleanly cut off with no mistake. The three shared the same realm as Zephyrion and they also had their eyes wide open, as if they didn't realise how they died.

Zephyrion tightened his grip on the hammer and with caution, walked toward the bodies. Reaching it, he bends down to examine their wounds, but not even a second had passed when he felt a slight disturbance on the air above his head.

"Swoosh." A cutting sound was the only noise, but Zephyrion was prepared. Flying backward, two black claws brushed past him from left and right, precisely aiming at his neck.

Stabilising, Zephyrion gaze at the two black creatures before him, they were surrounding him and seem not seem in a hurry to attack.

"Errhh, is this not the creature the computer spoke about that day?" Zephyrion was surprised as a sudden realisation came over him.

On that day he search for the Forest Of Shadow, the computer had warned about the natural beast habitat of this forest. Now looking at them now, Zephyrion was sure the computer description of the creature matched.

If Zephyrion were to describe the two creatures himself, he would only say one word: darkness! Yes, you heard it right. Darkness!

Their claws, eyes, legs, fur, and even the surrounding air exuded an embracing darkness. Zephyrion could only discerned the beasts movements by the outlines of darkness that defined their body shapes.

Although Zephyrion supposed should have panicked upon witnessing the beast's ruthless attack on the three humans earlier, he found himself strangely calm. Even his grip on Skullsplitter relaxed.

The two beasts, provoked by Zephyrion's calm demeanor, attacked in an instant. Zephyrion couldn't track their movements. It was as if they vanished and, a moment later, reappeared beside him—one on his right and the other on his left. Nevertheless, Zephyrion anticipated their assault, taking a step back and effortlessly deflecting their attack.

Seeing how easily he avoided their attack, the beasts started attacking aggressively but Zephyrion avoided their all their attack like child play.

This goes on for one minute and Zephyrion was feeling bored. He was even yawning. "I see now. So this beasts can move with the shadow, they can appear anywhere where shadow and darkness is." Zephyrion thought as he realised how terrifying these dark beast is, no wonder they can kill the three human without them realising, but to him, it was fruitless.

"Alright, since you two can't injure me, I suppose it's my moment now," Zephyrion remarked. With that, his eyes narrowed, timing the beast's next move, and swiftly grabbing their neck.

Despite the beast's body parts being concealed in darkness and out of sight, Zephyrion effortlessly managed to seize their necks. "So, this is the creature that takes lives without its victims even realizing? ...Trash!" With those words, he forcefully smashed the heads of the two together, causing them to burst open like watermelons.

"A mere basic-tier beast acting arrogant with the shadow in front of me, a former shadow assassin?" Zephyrion was disdainful as he released the two dead beasts from his grasp and their body hit the ground.

Who was Zephyrion in his past life? A ninja assassin! The organization that honed his skills? The Shadow Syndicate Clan! Throughout his previous existence, the clan diligently trained him in the art of utilizing shadows for his assassin duties.

He can inflict any facilities or buildings as long as there is shadow and darkness. In fact, almost all the assassins in the shadow Syndicate Clan can do it.

So when those two beasts started attacking and appear everywhere around Zephyrion, he can somehow predict where they would appear next and easily avoid their attack.

"With this hammer in hand, those basic-tier beasts didn't stand a chance. I should venture deeper to encounter more advanced creatures, but unfortunately, that won't be happening tonight, perhaps another day." Zephyrion shook his head, a hint of helplessness on his face.

"Guess I won't be reaching level ten tonight, huh." He sighed, the sky was already getting brighter.

Ripping apart the body of the two dead beast apart, Zephyrion refined their cores for attributes point. Tonight, he wouldn't even count how many attributes point he have accumulated.

Being currently without any clothes, Zephyrion walked over to one of the lifeless bodies on the ground and dressed in its attire. He couldn't leave the forest looking naked.

"Hehehe, tonight was truly fruitful." Zephyrion smiled as he retraced his path to exit the Forest of Shadow.

Even though one or two beasts got in the way, they didn't pose a challenge. A few swings of Skullsplitter, and they all split into two.

After twenty minutes, only the transparent barrier separated Zephyrion from the outside world. "Nobody needs to see me with this weapon," Zephyrion thought. After glancing around in case someone was watching, he considered the hammer disappearing, and indeed, it vanished from his hand.

"How cool would it be if I had this inventory all this time? Damn the system for hiding it." Zephyrion cursed the system multiple times in his heart as he crossed the barrier.
