8 Chapter 8: Cardus Mountain

''You're going to the Cardus mountain?''

Duke Andronikos Loreley asked.

"Yes father."

"For what?''

"For sightseeing father. I think I still need to get over of my dear mother's death.''

''...''

The Duke was silent and seem to be thinking his decision.

Well this was just an excuse. And the fact that Cardus mountain is very far away. It'll take you at least six months to travel to the Cardus mountain.

'By at that time I return if I'm permitted...'

Louella would be already here in the mansion.

Memories appeared in Myeon-ju's mind.

In some sense, it is understandable why Morana hates Louella. Her mother died in an accident because of a commoner's mistake. Because of that Morana despised commoners.

Myeon-ju recalled the debut of Louella in the novel.

[The mansion of Loreley was celebrating the 13th birthday of the lone daughter of the Duke. Though the Duke was nowhere, Morana still waited for her father. She doesn't want to start her party unless her father was here. She thought that if her father was here, she's going to ask him for her first dance.

That's why the party delayed.

Until...

"The Duke of Loreley is here to enter!"

The loud voice of the guard caught Morana's attention. SHe was so excited and was waiting for the duke to enter. Yet...

"Oh my~''

"Who is that girl beside the duke?"

"No idea."

"Such lovely girl!"

Morana was frozen.

What she saw was a girl with black hair and emerald green eyes like the duke. No. She greatly resemble the duke. The guard continued to speak.

"Together with the new lady! Lady Louella Humphrey!"

The party to celebrate Morana's birthday, was instead turned to the debut of the female lead Louella.

Morana walk toward her father. She was going to ask for an explanation.

'Why?'

'Why today?'

Yet...

"Father I-''

The duke coldly walked ignoring his own daughter together with his new daughter.]

''Cardus mountain is too far away.''

"But I want to go father."

Morana was firm of her decision. She wanted to obtain desperately the scroll before Louis.

The Duke stared at his daughter. He could see the eyes of Morana filled with determination. He looked at her with nostalgia.

'She really does resemble her.'

The Duke sighed and give in to his daughter.

"I permit."

'Yes!'

The Duke was about to continue.

"Ah! and I just need one guard and maid."

Morana speak immediately before the Duke can. She knows that the Duke might want to add guards on her vacation.

''Its easier that way."

''...Do as you wish.''

''Thank you father.''

Morana happily went back to her room.
