Second Chance?

Ron stared at his younger brother blankly and smiled.

"Looks like I'm finally dead..."

Ron hugged his brother Sam and closed his eyes again, thinking that his past memories were playing in his mind after death. Tears trickled down his cheeks.

Sam got a chill down his spine and immediately pushed Ron to distance himself from him. With his hands against the door, he shouted,

"Hey bro, I know you're sad, but that doesn't mean you can do weird things to me!"

Ron was shocked, and his mind became clear.

He looked around the room and at his young brother. He immediately rushed to look in the mirror, only to be shocked again.

He looked like he was 12 years old!

He quickly took out the calendar and noticed the date, January 21, 2035.It was the date when he received his potential examination and discovered that he possessed no superpowers.

Every child once they turn 12 will get a potential examination, which will reveal his supernatural abilities; everyone calls them Espers. Almost 99% of the population on earth has supernatural abilities, and he was the unluckiest person to be in that remaining 1%.

Ron didn't know if what he was experiencing was real, but if what he was thinking was correct, then he came back 7 years into the past!

"Are you listening, bro?"

Ron turned around, with hope in his eyes, he walked slowly towards Sam and hugged him again.

"Hey! Hey! Hey! "Stop this already, it's too creepy!"

"I'm sorry…."

"What do you mean? And can you release me already?"

Ron released Sam, and he looked at him with a wide smile.

"Where are mom and dad?"

"They're down there, bro; they're concerned about you! Why don't we go down?"

Ron took a deep breath, then rushed down the stairs. His heart was racing, because for him, it has been more than thirteen years since he has seen his parents. When he reached the downstairs, he found his mom and dad sitting worriedly at the dining table.

Tears trickled down his cheek, he stared at them silently. Just then his mom noticed Ron and gave a nod, signaling him to come closer.

His parents thought that he was sad about not having any supernatural abilities.

"Don't cry, my son, it's not the end of the world! I'm going to ask my commander for an awakening crystal. No matter what it takes, I'll make sure that you'll awaken your ability."

He knew that it was going to be hard to get an awakening crystal, but no matter what he had to do, he would definitely get it for his son.

"Don't worry; if your dad doesn't get you one, I'll break his legs and won't allow him into our home! Hmph!"

Ron took a deep breath and took a step back.

His parents are part of the Beast Subduing army of Rhino City. They died in a beast tide in his previous life, which changed the course of his and his brother's lives.

Given the second chance at his life, he is determined to do anything to make sure that tragic even does not happen this time.

"Dad…Mom… I'm not worried about it anymore. As long as we are together, it doesn't matter to me if I have any abilities."

"Don't talk about it anymore; if I'm is not able to do this much for my son, then I'll be ashamed of myself. You just wait!"

He talked with his parents, then had dinner with the them and went back to his room.

Ron touched his empty neck, where there was supposed to be a marble pendent. He felt as if it were only a few moments ago, when he took his own life to not be a burden to his brother.

In his previous life, after his parents died in the beast tide, he looked after his brother and took care of all the responsibilities.

After his brother turned 12, he was identified having S-rank Esper talent and was immediately adopted by an elder from Heavenly Martial Academy.

Sam didn't agree to it initially, as he didn't want to be separated from his brother. So, the elder allowed Ron to enter an ordinary martial school, even though he doesn't have any abilities.

But that didn't work as they were imagining, because he was constantly looked down by others and bullied.

After his brother turned 16, he somehow earned the Heaven's Trial token, which was coveted by many across the continent. But the problem was that he is protected by the Heavenly Martial Academy, an unshakable force on Earth.

So some of them tried to use Ron as a bargaining chip and kidnapped him, which caused Sam to get enraged and come out from the Heavenly Martial Academy's protection.

When Ron regained his consciousness, he held up with a knife against his neck. He saw his brother right in front of him, drenched in blood with a ghostly face, the dagger in his hand slowly dripped blood. Yet he didn't back down and continued taking one step after another towards Ron.

Sam would definitely die, if nothing else is done. Realizing this, Ron decided to take his own life by sliding his neck against the knife that held him. He didn't regret it, as it may help his brother to giveup his pursuit and escape from here.

In his last moments, he saw a glow coming from the marble pendent on his neck. It was something that he found during his childhood. He liked it so much that he made it into a pendant.

It's clear to him that it was the strange marble that took him back into the past. It would surely hide some other secrets!

As Ron was lost in his thoughts, a virtual screen appeared in front of him.
