Following the incident with Kamona Mason, the line for the dance had dispersed. The moment for it had passed and no one seemed like they wanted to start it up again. Instead, I walked to the other side of the room again, my friends at my side.

"Hey, don't let her get to you." Hollis said as he rubbed my arm a little. He was trying to calm the expression that was on my face.

"Yeah, you're a wonderful person, Addie." Harper was doing her best to console me. "We all know that. Most of the school knows that. The only ones that act like that, that act like Kamona and Larissa, are the ones that are jealous."

"You think that they're jealous?" I asked her, not sure if that was it or not.
