I had listened for months about all of the things that had happened at the Academy with Addie and the danger that she was in. Yes, I knew that she was safe as long as she was wearing her charm. That protection that she made for herself was better and more effective than any guard that she could take with her.

Still, Addie had been threatened recently. Not once, but twice, in the course of just one night. And that all happened when Addie had taken the title of the Imperial Goddess of the Ball. She had made short work of being the most popular lady at the Academy, and I knew that this put her in a tight situation.
