14 Making a deal

After Orpheus left everyone started to get up and leave the building. As Seth was about to leave he began to notice a lot of different people following him and if he had to make a guess they weren't the friendly kind. Some people were already having some ideas on trying to attack Seth, which is both smart and dumb. Its smart because Seth doesn't know much so he is a easy target, however its also dumb because they are also in the same boat except for the fact that Seth knows how to use mana a little bit and they probably don't.

As he stood there thinking of his next move Ember passes in front of him heading towards the exit. When she does an idea on how to get out of here without fighting comes to Seth's mind. So he catch's up to her and say "Hey can i ask you a favor" She turns around with questioning face and answer with "you do realize were adversaries now right. why should i help you" he responds with "well to answer that in order first we are actually not adversaries but actually allies, second if you help me now i will promise to help you in the future with whatever you need if its in my power even if it means helping take care of annoying flies after your "immunity" passes" she responds with "I understand the second reasoning but how do you get were allies did you not pay attention to what Orpheus just said" Seth give a slight chuckle then said "that may be true to other but not to us" she question "How so?" he answered "Simple, because of our rank."

Her eyes still had a little confusion on why their rank meant so Seth explained "From what Orpheus said before during his speech we are the top dogs in this campus meaning we don't have to worry about climbing our ranks, just surviving. However that is easier said then done since literally everyone in campus will come gunning for our heads after six months unless someone is dumb enough to accept a fight within the short amount of time that we have to get stronger."

Ember eyes widen after understanding then they when back to normal "alright that makes sense but how will I know that you won't just double cross me for any reason" Ember did have a point in that matter. There was nothing stopping Seth from stabbing her in the back when her guard was down, however as if waiting for that question Seth answered quickly "Simple we can do a soul contract." she ask "Do you even know what that is" Seth answered truthfully with "No, i don't have any concrete facts on what it is but i can make a good enough guess on what it does" she asks again "then what happens if this soul contract doesn't work like you thought, what then?" Seth Shrugged his shoulders "Well if that happens then i guess our deal wont work and I'll have to come up with something else, so I'm hoping its doesn't come to that" she stays quiet for a second then answers "Fine ill agree to this deal " When he heard that Seth was actually quite shock he wasn't really expecting that to work even he knew that there was so many holes in this deal, so he couldn't help but ask with confusion and surprise " Really! I mean even I know this deal is sketchy so why accept it" she responds with a straight face "because at the end of the day what you said makes sense and it will increase my chances of surviving in the end but don't think you have my trust just because of this"

"I'm fine with that, then we are in an agreement, until i figure out more about the soul contract we will be in a temporary truce" Seth held his hand out to her and says "I hope it will last" she looks at my hand for a second then accepts the handshake "We will see". Seth then release her hand "So with that out of the way i guess we should head towards our dormitory. If I remember correctly the dormitory's are also separated into ranks as well right so we should ask our maps to lead us to the kings quarters" She nods in agreement and we both follow our maps to our destination. As for how Seth knew how to use the map it was explained during Orpheus speech. Apparently they were voice activated.

As they headed to their quarters Seth began to see more and more people giving him a look of greed but also of uncertainty and fear, the same as before he went into the building. He could understand the greed and uncertainty but as for fear that he didn't quite understand so he asked Ember "Hey do you know why some people are looking at me fear I mean i don't look that scary right" she looks at him with her eyebrow raised "You do remember what you did at the entrance right" Seth nods his head "well yea but i don't think it was that scary of a thing, if you want me to put it in simple terms it was just me using a special knife to split a sphere of ice" she stares at him for a second as if trying to get a reading of if he was serious or not "You need to remember that they are only newbies who don't even know how to use mana and it wasn't just your action, its how you looked when you were doing it that probably deterred people" a confused look appeared on Seth's face "my look?" she nods her head "Yea you look or more specifically your face, you had the the look of . . . how do i describe it, enjoyment, pleasure, excitement maybe a mixture of all three, anyway the point is that you didn't have the face of someone facing a life threatening situation and that look has an influence on why some people will fear you, after all no one wants to fight to the death with someone who will probably enjoy it"

Seth couldn't remember to much of what kinda face he was making but he did remember the excitement or maybe it was more of a rush. Anyway he did remember the moment of when he made that scythe and sliced that sphere and the excitement wasn't from facing a life threatening situation but from all the new things that he was looking forward to in this life. After all he only just arrived but he already rode on a dragon used mana and created a scythe with it and that all happened with in a spam of a few hours. He couldn't even imagine what the rest of his life will be like, but if there's one thing he was sure of he was gonna make sure it lasts.

Ember suddenly said "Your making that face again" Seth covers his face with his hands "sorry, I was just thinking about the future, its sure gonna be an exciting one" she gives him a questioning look then says "The more I learn about you the more i question just what in the world goes in your head" Seth gives a smile "I think that's just a part of my charm" she retorts "No currently the only thing going for you is your looks and your mana preserves" Seth react as if getting shot in the heart but shakes it off "Did you just say i was handsome" she answers with a straight face "No I said you had good looks not that you were handsome" he retort "Oh come on that's the same thing" after that they started bickering with each other as they walked until they finally arrived in front of their dormitory.
