1 Purple

[The Moonlight shown through the window, the sandals beside the bed. Raise your head to view the moon, lower your head and burrow into darkness.]

Jian Sheng gave an eye roll to the system.

"You know that although I'm of Chinese lineage but I don't understand Mandarin. So what the heck are you doing?"

[Host, what I just recited is a classic, every Chinese elementary school student will know this~ Aren't you a sorry excuse of a Chinese?]

Jian Sheng did another eye roll while saying, "Well aren't you also a sorry excuse of a system?" He took a piece of potato chip out of the bag and put it in his mouth. He is currently lying on a recliner chair looking at the bright full moon.

[People eat mooncakes while enjoying the moon while here you are destroying your body with these artificial industrial products. It seems you started this unhealthy lifestyle because you grew up here in this country and it affected you.]

[Your ancestors will probably be crying and turning in their graves if they knew of this. Why don't we go dig them up and check?]

Jian Sheng swallowed and said, "While my parents were still here, we used to eat mooncakes while looking at the moon. Now that it's just me, I couldn't be bothered to go out of my way to buy them. And let the dead rest in peace would you?" He put another chip in his mouth.

Jian Sheng retorted while chewing, "Those systems from novels, animations and comics were at least useful and gave their host support or powers. And you've activated for 3 months now and all you did was recite these stupid poems that are actually fake."

[What do you mean by fake? They're as real as they can get~]

"I've tried searching online about the poems you've recited and none of them sounds like what you recite. Like this one now for example. I don't know the actual words for it but I know damn well there aren't any women in it." Jian Sheng said while shoving more potato chips into his mouth.

[Yes, it does~ Every Chinese elementary school student knows this poem is because this edited one was created by an elementary school student some years ago.]

Jian Sheng gasps and said, "What?! What the heck are wrong with kids these days? Are elementary school students so scary nowadays?"

[That's right, even in a game, many of them will choose marksman or mage regardless of team composition. And they su- do not excel in using the character well.]

"Oi, you were going to say something rude weren't you?"

[Whatever do you mean~?]

"Do you know why systems that can speak freely like you are not popular? It's because you're annoying."

"Sometimes you really creep me out, you know that?"

[But aren't I fun to talk with—] The system suddenly stopped midsentence.

"Huh? What's wrong?" Jian Sheng stopped eating and asked.

[Oh, rejoice my host. It seems like your prayers had been answered. The administrators will now fully activate me and I can start doing my job.]

"Finally! I can finally have a fully functional system! I got you for 3 whole months and it's finally time for me to give my benefits and Goldfinger!"

Suddenly a roulette suddenly appeared before Jian Sheng's sight.

[Before we start, my dear host. You need to spin this roulette here to begin our very fun and exciting journey~ Do remember that these powers once obtained can't be refunded. So pray carefully~]

"Seriously stop creeping me out. And why are there nothing written on the slots? It's all blank. How could I know what to pray for if there's nothing for me to choose from? What do these colours mean anyway?"

Jian Sheng looked at the roulette before his eyes. There are 12 different slots on the wheel. 6 of them with one colour each. Red, blue, yellow, brown, white and black. The other half also consist of these colours but with additional purple at the centre.

[Since the host has been nice to me, and it was always fun messing with you, I'll give you a hint. The ones with purple in the middle are better than the ones without it. That is all I'll tell you for now~]

Jian Sheng look at the wheel and prayed hard. "God, Jesus, Allah, Brahman, Buddha, Zeus, Jupiter, Odin, Dagda, Amun-Ra, please let me get a purple one!" He shouted and press the "SPIN" button.

The wheel spun so fast that it made Jian Sheng felt dizzy just looking at it. There was no stop button so he just watched it spin round and round and round.

2 minutes later….

"Hey, when is this wheel going to stop spinning?"

[But you haven't asked it to stop~]

"Huh? What do you mean by me not asking it to stop? There's no stop button here."

[Oh, I forgot to add the button. You could have told me to stop it manually though.]

Jian Sheng was stumped. How would I know if you didn't tell me?!

"This is why people find systems like you to be annoying as heck! Stop!" Jian Sheng shouted.

The roulette wheel started to slow down and Jian Sheng is slowly able to make out the colours. He had his hands held together tightly mumbling, "Any with purple, any with purple, any with purple."

The wheel finally stopped and a pointer at the top pointed at the slot that is blue with purple.

Jian Sheng waved his hands around shouting, "Yes! Yes! Purple! Thank the Gods!"

The purple colour in the slot slowly swirled and a '+1' appeared. While the blue swirled and turn into a clenched fist.

[Wow, congratulations host. You got the 'touch' sense. And you may spin another round because you got a '+1' from the purple. You're so lucky~]

"Sense? Touch? My sense of touch? What do you mean by 'touch' sense? What are you talking about here?"

[Let's not worry about that first. Let's continue. I'll explain to you after we're done with this. Let's go~]

Jian Sheng retorted, "Don't you 'Let's go' me. I want an explanatio-"

The roulette wheel suddenly popped out again before he could finish his sentence.

[Host, if you do not spin it quickly, it might disappear soon. Don't regret if it happened.]

"Fine, I'm not done with you yet." Jian Sheng tried saying it in a stern voice but it only ended up sounding stupid to the system.

Jian Sheng looked at the roulette wheel and found that there are only 10 slots on the wheel. there were no more slots with blue in it.

He sighed and press on 'Spin' and the wheel started spinning.

Jian Sheng press on the 'Stop' button and prayed, "Purple, purple, purple, purple".

The wheel starts slowing down and finally came to a stop at a slot that is red and purple.

"Yes!" Jian Sheng swung his arms high and shouted. "The gods are with me!"

[Wow~ Congratulations Host~ Looks like lady luck is smiling upon you~]

"Haha! Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket later. I don't need to win much, just a few hundred thousand will do. Hehe." Jian Sheng smiles widely and said.

[Well, sorry to burst your bubble there host but it seems like the administrators are getting impatient. I'll just give them all to you in one shot~]

[That way, we can start our fun and exciting journey~]

Jian Sheng stopped jumping like a monkey and stood there stunned with his arms up high. "Huh?"

[Well, I wanted you to have a bit of fun before we begin. But it seems like the administrators want us to hurry up so I'll stop our game here and carry on~]

"You mean I keep getting the purple ones because you were playing around with me and I'll still get everything in the end?"

[Yup~]

Jian Sheng screamed, "Fu-" But he felt as if he got electrocuted the moment the sound left his mouth. He screamed like a pig in a slaughterhouse. "ARGHH!"
