1 Broken Engagement

As the priest recited his words, Alex(15), also this story MC, stood stoically in the center of the grand court. It was just him, the king, and the priest present. The empty court gave the whole ordeal an eerie feeling. Alex was the son of a hero, but he was deemed unsuitable to marry Princess Julia(14) of the Dharma Kingdom. The priest's declaration was clear, citing Alex's weak stature and low mana capacity as the primary reasons. It was then that the priest declared the nullification of the marriage contract in the presence of the gods. The only person fit to marry the princess was the current hero, Sem. But the priest and King wanted to be fair to Alex, so he offered him compensation, anything he desired.

As Alex stood in the court, the priest's words echoed in his mind. He had been declared unfit to marry the princess of the Dharma Kingdom, Julia, due to his weakness and low mana capacity. In reality, however, he knew that he was the most powerful person in the kingdom. He had inherited his father's strength, who had also embarked on a journey to face the demon king.

Alex's father had sacrificed his life to save the kingdom, and Alex did not want to follow in his footsteps. He longed for a peaceful life without having to confront the demon king. He was torn between his desire for peace and his obligation to protect the kingdom.

As he thought about his situation, he realized that he did not know whether he should be happy or upset about the marriage contract being canceled. On the one hand, he had lost the chance to attend a royal wedding. On the other hand, he was relieved that he did not have to face the demon king.

The king was taken aback by the unexpected request. He looked at Alex in disbelief and then at the priest for guidance. The priest, who was still in shock, tried to dissuade Alex from such a request.

"Alex, you cannot ask for such a thing. It is not fair to the queen and the princess. They have their own lives, and you cannot just request them as compensation."

Alex replied calmly, "But your holiness, they are the ones I want to marry. I made a promise to them when I was younger, and I want to keep it. I know it's a bold request, but it's what I want."
