6 Chapter 6- Confusion

Taylor's POV

I took longer than two minutes in the bathroom. I needed the time to stop my racing heart, and my rushing thoughts. Of course this had to happen at the worst time possible. I am nowhere near prepared to be meeting the man I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with. I know I am supposed to be excited and I should be running down those stairs and into his arms but I just have a really bad feeling that something is going to go wrong.

"Where's mate?" I almost fell over when there was a loud noise in my head. What the heck was that?

"It's me, I'm your wolf. Where's mate?" She growled in my head. This was so weird, I knew she was going to come and I've heard that you can communicate with your wolf in your mind but that always sounded so strange to me.

"I don't know where your mate is! I'm freaking out a little here, and I came in here to be alone. Can you give me some privacy?" I snarled back at my wolf, she was being rude while I was having a moment.

"I want mate." She growled. I could feel her bristle, clearly she only had one thing on her mind and trying to speak to her wasn't going to work.

"Well I have a bad feeling about him, so just give me two minutes." Somehow I managed to put up a mental shield and she was quiet. I blew out a breath of release, first my mate and now my wolf. What's next? I better not shift in front of everyone, especially because there are humans downstairs. That would require a lot of explaining.

"Okay you got this! Don't be such a scaredy cat, whatever happens is meant to happen. Stay strong, I believe in you." I said to myself in the mirror. I often gave myself a pep-talk, it really helped sometimes.

I opened my bathroom door and stepped out into my room, blowing out a big breath I walked out and down the stairs. The smell was getting stronger as I made my way downstairs, I used it to try and calm myself down. Looking over the crowd of people I could see Nora running around looking at every male, I don't know what she thinks she was looking for but I commended her efforts.

I spotted Amber by the kitchen pouring herself another drink, I wonder if Kyle even bothered to show up tonight. Poor Amber, I hope she wasn't going to be too disappointed that he didn't come. Making my way towards her I was stopped by a few people who wished me happy birthday, they were all spoken in slurred voices and sweaty hugs. Some people even handed me birthday shots as gifts. I figured it would help calm my nerves and maybe subdue the smell burning my nostrils. By the time I reached Amber I was pretty drunk, I don't know how it happened, must've been because about four different people gave me a shot.

"Sister!" I yelled and hugged Amber from behind. "Are you having fun? I'm sorry that Kyle didn't pitch up." I said to her with a pout on my lips, "you don't need him anyway, men are trouble." I giggled tapping a finger on her forehead.

"Taylor what are you doing? Are you drunk?" Amber snapped pushing my hand away from her face. "Kyle is here, he's over there you silly drunk fool." I didn't let Amber's words hurt me, I could hear the slight slur in her words as well. So I didn't understand why she was being such a bitch about me being drunk for once.

"Why are you so mean? I was excited to see you and thought that Kyle ditched you so I wanted to make sure you were okay you bitch." I snapped turning around so that I didn't have to look at her, I know I probably shouldn't have called her a bitch, but she kinda deserved it. All I heard was Amber scoff behind me before she pushed me out of the way and walked into the dancing crowd of people. I guess she was heading towards Kyle. I knew what he looked like, he was our future alpha and we all grew up together. He is pretty attractive, but probably too perfect for my liking, just Amber's type I guess.

"Have you found him?" Nora came crashing into me, she was all sweaty and in a more frantic mood than usual.

"Girl I just want to live my best life, let's go dance. I called Amber a bitch to her face." I said with wide eyes and slapping my hand over my mouth. I couldn't help the laugh that erupted from me, this alcohol worked wonders. I wasn't even stressed about trying to find my mate, and my wolf was silent which was a bonus.

"You are my hero!" Nora yelled, laughing with me. We both made our way onto the dance floor, I had only danced once tonight and it was my party. I was going to have fun and not stress myself out so much. I threw my hands above my head while the clubby music blasted through the speakers. Nora and I were dancing around each other, holding hands and having a great time. Nothing was going to ruin my mood. Well maybe not nothing, when I opened my eyes I made direct eye contact with the prettiest green I have ever seen.

"Mate." My wolf finally managed to break the walls I built in my mind. My body was on fire, every part of me was screaming to touch this male standing ten feet in front of me. Nora saw me stop dancing and looked to where I was looking.

"Oh Jesus." I hardly hear her curse. I felt her gently grab my hand and give it a light squeeze, it was enough for me to pull my eyes away from those haunting green ones. The look on Noras face was one that I was not expecting, instead of her usual excited and happy face, she was looking at me with sadness and annoyance.

"What's wrong? I think that's him." I said using my head to motion in green eyes direction. It took everything in me not to run over and jump in his arms. My wolf was screaming at me to go.

"Taylor did you see who that was? It's Alpha Kyle. Isn't Amber dating him?" Nora said motioning towards him again, when I looked Amber was standing next to him holding his hand in a fierce grip. He looked just as shocked as I felt, I guess he wasn't expecting to meet his mate tonight either.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me." I almost yelled walking the other way towards the garden, I needed fresh air and to not be suffocated by his smell. Nora followed closely behind, somehow I could feel Kyle following as well. This wasn't going to be good.
