5 C3 Engagement Talk

(In the dining room)

"Dear what do you think about Melody",my Dad asked my Mom.

"This one you asking what I think about him, what's on your mind?" my Mom asked.

"Nothing to worry about but I think of pairing him with our daughter Emmer, what of you dear?" my Dad asked.

"Not a bad idea but we will have to consult both of them to know their own opinions because marriage is something that shouldn't be taking lightly", my Mom said.

"I know dear that's why I consulted you first so we could talk things through before informing Emmer", Dad said.

"By the way I think our princess already has someone in mind",Mom said.

"And how do you know that did she tell you?"Dad asked.

"No dear she didn't tell me but I found out through her behaviour though I don't know who it is that has made my princess so happy", Mom said.

"Dear if he is someone who meets up with my standard and has class then I'll surely give them my blessings"Dad said.

Just as he finished talking Emmer walked into the dining room to take her breakfast.

"Morning Dad and Mom did I miss something?" I asked.

Dad said "no dear but you are just at the right time. You see your Mom and I were discussing about you getting engaged with Melody so dear what do you think about him".

"Dad I don't like him talk more of getting engaged to him", I said immediately and rising my voice slightly.

"Child is anything the matter because I remember that you two were childhood friends, so this shouldn't be a problem",Dad said.

Oh God please save me from this problem that my parents wants to put me in.Mom you told me that in this life I can only give my heart to one person and that person has already taken it so how can I marry or get engaged with someone when another person has my heart already.

Mom sensed my sorry and said"princess if you already have someone in your heart you can tell us and bring the person around here sometime so we could give you our blessings".

Dad said while raising his voice"that's only if I give my approval and to get my approval he has to meet up my standard and class".

"Dad what if ...." before I could finish talking dad said,

"No what ifs child and bring that person home by weekend that's all".He stood up and walked away angrily.

"Princess I know you love someone already so you can open up and tell about everything",Mom said.

"But Mom I .....", she cut me off before I could finish.'why do these people cut someone before they finish talking,Dad first now you.

She said,"you want to ask how I knew.Of course why won't I know it is evident in your body and by the way I went through this when I was your age. Now tell me that boy that stole your heart without my permission".

'How can he take your permission when he didn't even take mine', I said inwardly.

Then I told her about everything that happened with me and Sylvester, how we met and became friends from there we fell in love with one another. I excluded the part of my office location because I was not sure if Mom would tell Dad and they would change my office but Mom was quick to get it and she said,

"You also choose that place of your office so that you two can be seeing often right?"

I blushed and said inwardly,'oh no she caught me'. Before I could answer she said teasingly,

"Oh why is your cheek red dear. Wait are you blushing, Oh my she is truly blushing".

I held my cheek and faced down.

"No need to be shy dear and I can see you've fallen deeply with him,oh his so unlucky because I am very sure your Dad won't give his approval because of his status",Mom said.

"I know Mom and that is what I am worried about",I said with a frown.

"Don't worry dear I'll try and talk with your Dad about it",Mom said.

With this I left for my room while Mom left for her and Dad's room. She convinced him in all ways but he was adamant as always leaving me helpless.
