65 Chapter 65 – Treasures

Volume 2 Chapter 12

(Unedited)

The strong stench of blood wafted through the air as corpses are strewn everywhere. Each of the people lying on the ground has a single wound on them which may have killed them almost instantaneously. As the soldier waded through the area they could see many dead armed men all over the secret passage.

"Captain… What… what just happened here?" a soldier asked as he walked beside the one leading their squad.

"Let's continue moving… I think these people have met an expert. We should be careful." The captain said as the group continues to walk along the passage.

After the group walked carefully in the long passage, a soldier suddenly said.

"Captain, I think we already passed over more than 100 dead terrorists…"

Soon, they reached a half-closed door and the captain of the squad gestured for one of them to take a peek.

Swallowing hard, the soldier carefully moves forwards and slowly peeked inside the room with his weapon pointing forward.

Within the dimly lit room, he could not see anyone. So he continues looking around while being really cautious.

Then his eyes saw a woman sitting on the ground while leaning on a wall. Her body is covered in blood, and what shocked the soldier is that both of her hands and feet are severed.

"Captain we have a survivor!" he called as he rushed inside the room.

The rest who heard him also open the door and rushes following behind. They also saw the woman on the ground while leaning on the wall without limbs.

When the captain saw this scene he was a bit shocked. However, when he saw the face of the woman, his expression immediately changes.

This is because he recognizes that face.

A few years ago, he was a soldier assigned in Tup town before its collapse. At that time, they did not expect that some terrorist group would act and make the town collapse in just a day.

He saw the carnage and the death in the town and was really disheartened and desperate. He saw his fellow soldiers dying in the hands of those armed terrorists. The people in the town were both killed by the monsters and by those inhuman terrorists.

He was there, he saw them…

And this particular woman is one of those beast-like humans who mercilessly killed people. She would never distinguish her target; she would kill men, women, and even children.

She and her fellow espers acted like beasts as they massacred the whole town like wild animals.

That was his nightmare for a long time. And he swore that he would never let that tragedy happen in Kor city.

That's why in this fight, he and his soldiers with some of them his fellow survivors of that time immediately volunteered to fight against the terrorists.

And now he is seeing that animal… that savage beast of a human lying on the ground lifeless. The captain subconsciously extended his hand to his sidearm.

"Captain… what… what happened?" a soldier asked.

"Huh… oh… nothing… I… I was just… it's nothing… her wounds have been cauterized and is not bleeding anymore. Get some people in here and take this beast… I mean this woman out." The captain said.

He glared at the woman, but reign on his anger as he knew that she would not be able to do those atrocious things anymore. What happened to her right now is a far worse punishment than death.

As the soldiers enter the passage, a shadow suddenly flickered in a corner and disappears.

Curt Nilfiem lies down on his bed as he rested for a while after taking a quick shower.

Today was a very tiresome day. He was only supposed to check his esper power, but it ended up being a day that those terrorists would do a kamikaze attack. However, they did not prevail due to the coordination and power of the espers in Kor city.

Curt also realized after reading the report that the reason why Esper College almost fell is that most of the powerful espers in the college were called out to assist in the fight at the City Hall.

If the college fell and the terrorist obtained the core component of the barrier inside the Esper College, then it would surely spell doom for the city.

While lying on the bed, he has read the reports he has taken from the terrorist base.

He closes his eyes and carefully checked the things he has obtained inside one of the rooms. From precious stones, cores, and money, he could say that the terrorist group is truly a rich organization. He even got hold of some evidence that would truly shake the foundation of the city.

Curt didn't want to expose this yet as it would be like a bomb that would surely destroy the city's foundation.

He would either wait till the situation dies down, or he himself would hunt down these people to clean the city of its corruption. That way, he would be able to feel at ease while living in it.

While checking his loot, Curt suddenly noticed some of the boxes he has taken.

Out of all the treasure he took from the hideout of the terrorists, these four sealed boxes seem to contain his greatest loot.

The first one is a rare ore that does not originate on this planet. Its color is dark blue and it is not susceptible to any type of tempering. This type of ore was considered one of the most useless ores that were found. Though many thought that it would be of any use, after hundreds of years of research the scientist could still not found a way to melt the ore.

According to the papers, Curt has read, people in this world call it Organium. It is named after the first scientist who discovered the ore.

However, once Curt saw it among the junk pile, his eyes immediately lit up. This is because he knew what the true essence of this ore is. This is no ordinary ore, nor is it an ore. This small fist-size object is actually a small chip of a deity's bone.

And only those who have the knowledge and know-how in using it would be able to open its secrets. And also those that are lucky enough to have a fate with this small piece of bone.

As Curt checked the deity bone chip, he already determined what type of deity this bone belongs to.

"This belongs to a tri-headed red dragon... Hmm… That one is a very dangerous heavenly being." Curt muttered with a glint of excitement in his eyes.

Then he takes out another box and lays it on the bed. Inside the sealed box is a glittering core.

"Thunder tiger core… a level 30 at that. This is amazing… how did they kill this strong beast?"

After checking the core, he stores it inside his ring and then takes out another box.

This time, inside the box, is a blueprint. As Curt carefully analyzed the blueprint his expression suddenly changes.

Curt immediately takes out his phone and began searching for the keyword… 'Energy Rifle'…

After typing, he then saw some information about it. It took him a while to read the information and realized that the blueprint in his hand is actually a failed project.

However, the question is… how did it land in the hands of the terrorists?

And that question would never be answered at this time, so he decided to just study it more, later. In fact, from his casual glance and checking, Curt could already deduce how this thing would function. But he would agree that this type of weapon is a sure failure.

Curt did not check it any longer and decided to keep it and keep it in his ring for now.

Then he takes another box and lays it on the bed.

When Curt opens the sealed box, he saw a palm-size cube inside it. With curiosity in his eyes, he takes out the cube and carefully checked it.

After some time, Curt's eyes are already shining with interest.

"This… they actually were able to create a simple storage box. Hahaha… their pattern in ingenious… using the current space and then connect it to another area within the planet… this thing could also be considered as a storage space, right? Amazing…" Curt laughed as he was truly intrigued by what this small box could do.

With interest in his eyes, Curt carefully activated the box.

It suddenly turned into a screen with some buttons on the right side, just like a small tablet computer.

"Where is this place?" Curt muttered as he began checking what the things on the screen are.

He could see many types of items to choose from. However, he needs to pay for those objects he wanted that are listed on the screen.

"So I have to exchange something to get this item… Hmm… Ice twinflower… it cost, 70,000 energy cores?... Wow... what steep prices. This is not a storage device… this is like an online black market." Curt exclaimed as he carefully checks the things on the screen.

However, before he could fully emerge his concentration in it, he suddenly heard someone knocking on the door outside.

Hearing this, he was suddenly jolted and immediately looks at the monitoring system on the side.

"Jenny Mae? What… what is she doing here?" Curt muttered as he immediately kept everything in his ring and then checked the room.

With a nod of his head, he walked out of the room and opened the door.

"Hi… Come in" he said with a smile.

Jenny Mae did not politely wait and just enter the house.

As soon as she takes a step inside the house, she immediately turns around and looks at Curt with a suspicious eye. She is aware of who Curt is and knew his disposition.

However, he suddenly changes and became like another person. However, every time they are together, he would be the same person that she knew. And this made her really confused.

And then, his actions and quick reaction while fighting against those mutants and terrorists. Everything is different; it's so not like him at all.

However, she could not deny that this new him, is a bit attractive, a little chivalrous even.

As their eyes met, she could help but open her mouth and ask a strange question which made Curt a little dumbfounded.

"Who… Who are you?"
