Chapter 2: A New World, A New Beginning

Oliver was awoken by the sound of the water from a nearby river. He rubbed his eyes as he sat up trying to understand where he was. He doesn't recognize this place, he doesn't even know the faint sent of honey that filled the air. Oliver was confused to the point he started to cry. His ocean blue eyes were now shiny and his cheeks were a faint red. All he could do was to look up at the night's sky and admire the stars.

While walking, a woman, Jessica was taking a stroll by a river bank near her home. While admiring the water she heard crying coming from a distance. "Hello is anyone there?" she asked walking towards the sound. "I want to go home!" Oliver cried as he folded into a ball. Jessica couldn't help but feel sorry for the little boy so she decided she would take him in until she can locate his parents. "Come with me little one, I'll help you find your home."Jessica stated calmly as she hugged Oliver, comforting him. "What is your name sweetie? My name is Jessica." Jessica questioned. "My name is Oliver." he stuttered. "That's a very beautiful name" Jessica whispered as they continued to hug each other to pass the time.

It was now dawn as Oliver's eyes fluttered open to see the sunrise. The sent of honey was even clearer than before and the river was more calm. Oliver then sat up trying to remember the night before. He had fallen asleep on the woman he had met the previous night. She was still asleep laying flat on the ground. The more he looked around the more he felt the urge to cry.

Jessica stirred awake; and slowly sat up. "Good morning Oliver!" Jessica greeted. "Good morning Jessica." Oliver responded with a slight smile. "Well it seems that it is already dawn, so let's go eat something." Jessica suggested. Oliver nodded in response. This was the beginning of a new friendship, a new bond.

It was almost noon and Oliver was settling in his new home. The house was decorated with flowers and wind chimes which reminded him of his garden. The house's interior and exterior wasn't anything like he had seen before. Now he was really convinced he was in another world. While he continued to contemplate his orchid pendant started to glow.

"Pum-Pumpkin, can y-you h-ear me?" A voice echoed. "Mama? Is that you?" Oliver questioned as he held the pendant in his palm. "Y-yes, it's m-e,Mama. List-en Oli-ver y-you are in a-nother world. It's g-oing to be difficu-lt but promise me you'll be he-re on y-your c-oming of age ceremony."his mother asked. "Anything for Mama!" Oliver stated excitedly as the glow of his pendant faded. Jessica was in the other room and overheard the conversation. "Not on my watch." Jessica declared as she walked away.
