3 Do It for Sona

Chapter 03: Do It for Sona

-----------------------------------

Alright, deep breaths. Perks can wait; my immediate concern is avoiding any assassination attempts.

No need for Sherlock Holmes here; it's evident that Katerea Leviathan is the puppet master behind these attempts. She has an huge hate boner against Nee-sama due to the Leviathan title, and she's willing to pull any devilish strings to rattle my Nee-sama.

"Saa-chan! Sorry for the wait!" Nee-sama swoops in, grabbing me and spinning us around. No warning, just instant Beyblade mode. I don't mind, but a heads-up would be nice.

*Sniff* *Sniff* *Sniff*

I smell a metallic scent coming from her. Something I am very familiar with.

"Blood," I muttered. Nee-sama didn't hear my voice as her laughter covered it.

I've been conducting research on Water Magic. High-level mastery requires more than just theory and clan traits. I've got to get my hands dirty, conducting my experiments.

But too bad, I don't have much time to do research. My days are packed with history lessons, noble etiquette classes, family lunches, magic lessons from Father, and Ice Magic sessions with Nee-sama. Add a violin lesson after that, and I finally get a window from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. for my research. Nee-sama enforces a strict bedtime of 9 P.M. She won't take 'No' for an answer.

She once drugged me when I tried to sneak in some late-night research. Yes, she freaking drugged me. Or a Magical Girl wand to the head was her preferred method if the drugs didn't work.

Working tirelessly, I've raised my magic to High Level with just two hours of daily study. Father refuses to help with my research, insisting I find my own path, like how Nee-sama did with her Ice Magic.

Speaking of Nee-sama, she tortured the assassin. That's for sure because she can kill someone by simply freezing them, blood included. This, she took her time with the amount of blood I was smelling from her.

"Nee-sama, we're running late for the appointment," I remind her. My head is still dizzy with the spinning I have to go through.

"Don't worry, Sa-chan! Nee-sama's got it all covered," she beams.

-----------------------------------

I was supposed to go to Satan's territory by carriage. But Nee-sama said screw the rules and teleported us there.

"Lady Leviathan," A maid is already in the room we teleported. "Lord Lucifer and the others have been expecting you," she added.

I know this maid. She was the one who competed with Nee-sama for the Leviathan title. The current strongest Queen, Grayfia Lucifuge.

Her eyes turned toward me as if she was measuring up my strength. Her eyes widened a little, and she looked at me with an apparent amusement in her eyes.

In my previous life, I'd be over the moon when someone pretty gives me this kind of attention. But now? Strangely, I don't feel a thing. Is it because I am still 10 years old or somehow become immune to the lewdness this world has to offer?

"This must be the Sitri heir," Grayfia muses. "Impressive."

"Hey! He's my brother! Go get your own," Nee-sama hisses, holding me closer.

Grayfia twitches. Nee-sama's playing with fire by bringing up her brother. Remembering Grayfia's younger brother, Euclid Lucifuge, a yandere siscon who she believed died in the civil war, Nee-sama skillfully brought him into the conversation, not pulling punches and goes straight for the throat when it came to defending her position as my sister.

"Nee-sama," I intervene before things escalated. "Rude," I add.

Nee-sama huffs, glaring at the maid. She doesn't release me, patting my head while rubbing salt on Grayfia's wound. Nee-sama huffs, glares at Grayfia, and mutters, "I was scolded by Sa-chan because of you," but she doesn't let go of me.

Patting my head, Nee-sama whispers in my ear, "Follow behind that woman, Sa-chan. Don't take anything she gives you. Say no when she offers candies. Run back to Nee-sama immediately if she takes you to a shady van."

But from looking at the maid's twitching eyebrows, I think she was saying that on purpose.

"Bye, Sa-chan! See you later!" And with that, Nee-sama teleports away, leaving me with an annoyed maid.

"I apologize for Lady Leviathan's words," I apologize, addressing my Nee-sama by her title.

A minute later, she sighs tiredly. "Please come this way," she answers, turning without looking at me, not acknowledging my apology. Two could play at this game.

The maid leads me to the waiting room, no instructions from Nee-sama. "Please wait in this room. For the test, defeat your opponent. Killing is allowed," she says before vanishing. Rude.

Alright, killing is on the table. My opponent should be a stray devil or a criminal, with a power range between Medium-Class (High Rank) to High-Class (Low Rank). I can handle that.

Slumping into a chair, I exhale. Something's off. At 20, I died in my previous life. Yet, here I was, whining about my first kiss this morning, acting more childish since being reborn.

Since my rebirth, I had embraced the warmth of a family, a luxury denied to me in my past life. Perhaps it was my longing to relive a childhood I never experienced. Regardless, I didn't regret embracing this newfound childlike demeanor, especially in the presence of my family. Just look at Nee-sama.

Today marks the first time I'm going to off someone, in both this life and the previous one. And Sona will do the same when she gets here. Maybe that's why the characters in the series don't bat an eye when killing Stray Devils. Heck, Rias erased Raynare and three other Fallen Angels without a second thought in Volume 01.

Dragging my hand across my face, I'm tired. Every day was a happy one. Parents who care, a dependable elder sister, a precious little sister. But damn, I'm tired. Yet, I can't back out now. I have Sona to protect.

I slapped my cheeks hard. No point in getting depressed over something I can't control. Evils are plotting in the dark, and right now, I can't do much with my current strength.

Speaking of strength, I need to choose my perks now. [What Miracles?] is a must-have. Almost all of Big G's Miracles are bullshit. They even include Scared Gears. With this perk, I can be a Discount Rizevim Lucifer.

But wait... it says God, not specifying which one. Can it be any God? Isn't that overpowered? But it only says I'm immune to God's miracle.

Can miracles be considered as divinity? Does that mean I'm immune to God's Divinity? So, let's say, Zeus. I can bitch slap him by ignoring his divinity if I can get close to him, but I can still be hurt by his lightning. Nice. At least, with this perk, I can hurt gods.

And divine powers are holy, right? Does that mean I'm immune to holy-based attacks? Like the powers of Angels and Fallen Angels? Wait a minute! Doesn't that make this perk too OP?! But yeah, if I get hit by Uriel's Holy Fire, it'll only be normal fire, right? The same with Baraqiel's Holy Lightning. It'll only be normal lightning if it aims at me. I'm pretty sure their fire and lightning will hurt like hell though. But against those holy-based attacks, I believe I can get around them.

I can skip [Scholar] and [Look at this photograph] perks. I'm tempted to get [Scholar], but learning and applying it in real situations are different. I need to train to use the skills I've learned.

[Look at this photograph]? Nope. Memories, especially ones we want to forget, should stay buried. Perfect memory sounds good on paper but is a mess in reality.

That leaves me with two perks, and I need to choose one. [You can't see me] and [A deal is a deal]. I'm tempted to go with the first one. There's a character called Indra who has Clairvoyance. The God of War is scary, and I don't want to face him if possible. The second one is good too. It lets me recruit someone stronger than me. Plus, there are many beings stronger than me in this universe. Wait… wait… wait…

I look closely at the description of the perk. That… what the fuck! How… It says [You can recruit someone stronger than you with AN Evil Piece of their choosing after doing what they requested.] With AN Evil Piece! Shit…

So… it is like this. I can have Ophis with a single Pawn if I can fulfill her request. Shit… it's broken. Wait… it also said stronger than me but didn't say in which area. What if someone has stronger lust than me? Hyoudo Issei is worth 8 Pawns with his Boosted Gear. He has stronger lust than me. So, if I fulfill his request, does that mean I can get him into my peerage with a single Pawn too?

I've finally decided. I am choosing [What Miracle?] and [A deal is a deal]. After pressing 'Yes', I felt… liberated. Was it because I am free from the Holy System?

Screw you, God! I am free! The headache I expected never came. With this, I… I can finally curse using God's name! Then, I started breakdancing.

-----------------------------------

5 minutes later,

I want to smash my head with tofu and kill myself. I didn't know that getting a new power from the System could get me high. Although it only lasted for a few minutes, getting high on power is never good. I must be cautious if I accept new skills from the System. I'm sorry I laughed at you, Mr. Lyle.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

"Lord Savion Sitri, the preparations are complete. Please follow me," This time, a different maid called me.

"Understood," I nodded and walked out of the room. Soon, I was guided toward the arena. Looking up, I can see Nee-sama waving at me.

"Your opponent is a Stray Devil named Nilar, Lord Savion Sitri," the maid said.

"Lord Savion Sitri's test is starting in a minute," announced another voice through the speaker.

Breathe in, breathe out. You can do this, Savion. Don't chicken out now. Do it for Sona. Kill the woman in front of me for Sona.

"Begin!"

The Stray Devil... Seriously, is she out of her mind? Coming at me like a rabid dog. All that worrying for nothing, I guess.

This marks the first time I get to put my research into action. Inhale, exhale. She's not in striking range just yet. My gaze stays fixed on the woman barreling towards me, her eyes locked onto mine.

Just a few more seconds. Now!

"Gahhh!" The woman screamed, covering her eyes. Flames are burning through her eye sockets.

There! Drops of blood are falling down from her eyes or where her eyes used to be. Even if I cannot do 100%, 50% is enough.

Changing 50% of her blood into water, I clenched my fist. I am sorry for killing you. "Spin and burst!" The water inside her body bloated and destroyed her body from the inside.

*Splash*

The Stray Devil's body exploded. Her internal organs were scattered everywhere. Her intestine, her tongue, hands, legs, everything. I... can't even recall what she looked like. For that, I'm sorry.

Hold it together, Savion. You cannot scream yet. You cannot cry yet. You cannot puke yet. You cannot be yourself yet. You are an heir of the Sitri family. Act like one. Don't be a coward. Do it for Sona. You are her dependable big brother. You cannot show any weakness.

I turned my body toward the viewing area. Smile… yes, the same smile I've worn for ten years. Showing them that smile, I gave the viewers an elegant bow.

Yes, no matter how much it hurts me to kill for the first time, just smile. Do it for Sona.

-----------------------------------

Author's Note;

I'll write the POV of the Satans in the next chapter. Ajuka will explain how Savion did his magic in that chapter.

As for the Japanese honorific, I was used to hearing Sona calling Serafall 'Nee-sama'. Moreover, Serafall likes adding '-chan' to those close to her.

I wanted to clarify something first. Savion does not think of Serafall as a love interest yet. His love for her is that of between siblings'.

So, I've chosen [A deal is a deal] and [What Miracle?] for the perks.

Savion's theory about [What Miracle?] might or might not be true. I'll leave it for the future. And a thing about Ise was just an example.
