Chapter 1: I'm not anyone special

It was another sunny day in Delv city. As usual on a Saturday morning, people were moving around trying to get things done in this shabby little place.

Delv city isn't the best place to live in. it's people were poor and barely able to maintain themselves by doing whatever job they can lay their hands on. the whole place looks run down, the doors were rusty and the roads were nothing short of a disaster. not many people had cars but even those who did wouldn't dare subject their cars to such torture. bumpy road with multiple holes and pits? heck, you'd get to your destination faster even if you were hopping on one leg!

There were some places that were hospitable enough though. Those were home to people who worked round the clock to make sure they could live an average life.

Audrey woke up that morning full of smiles. she hurried out of her small bed and quickly got dressed. she immediately began her chores around the house and did so as fast as she could before her aunts got home. Audrey snow is a teenage girl who lived with two of her aunts in the hospitable areas of Delv city. Her aunts had average jobs which allowed them to take care of themselves along with Audrey when her parents died in a car crash when she was seven years old. With no one else to rely on, her two aunts took her in and took good care of her. That happened over nine years ago, now 16 years old, Audrey successful graduated from high school and helps her remaining family members however she can.

She finished her chores and went into the kitchen to have something to eat. she opened the fridge which looked almost empty so, after having breakfast, she decided to stop over at the market to get some food supplies. Audrey moved as though she was being carried swiftly by the wind. this was because she wanted to ensure everything was done before her aunts got back. it was her birthday and her aunts promised that they'd all have a fun day at the beach.

As she walked down the street, she couldn't help but acknowledge the fact that even though Delv is a terrible place, it has a luxurious residence for notable people from other cities with resorts, hotels and beach for visitors while it's own people lived in dilapidated buildings. 'wierd', she thought.

As she kept walking, humming a tune softly to herself, she heard a girl crying. she's instantly turned her head to the corner where she saw a young girl, probably a few years younger than her, being bullied, or harassed ( how would she know exactly?)

She immediately walked towards the young girl who was being bullied by a group of girls and boys about her age.

The girl continued crying while the group of bullies were laughing. one of the guys in the group said, in between his laughter, "hey now come on! what's wrong, can't take a joke". the girl retorted "That's not funny!!!!" but that only made the group laugh louder. "Look at her, all covered in snot and tears all because of a simple prank hahahahaha", one of the girls said. Audrey could have sworn that girls laughter was enough to piss anyone off. she got closer to the group and when she got to where the girl was sitting on the ground she asked, " what happened to you anyway", in an almost mocking tone, not because she was mocking the girl, but because she didn't want the group to be alarmed as though someone called the police!

The girl raised up her head, with tear filled eyes she cried out " S-snake!". it was only then that Audrey noticed the snake who stayed almost motionless like a toy close to where the girl sat. Only it wasn't a toy, it was an actual snake. she also noticed that the boy who spoke before had a finger pointed at the snake the whole time. at that point she understood what was going on. The girl tried to continue explaining " th- they suddenly made it j-jump at me and.... and" but Audrey cut her off before she couldn't finish and said " hmm, I see. so he controlled the snake with his gift and used it to scare the living day lights out of you and you're probably super afraid of snakes huh? ". the girl looked dazed for a few seconds before nodding her head so hard, it could've fallen off. It was then the bullies paid attention to the other person who had appeared and spoiled their fun. The guy who was the snake's controller faced Audrey, gave out a smirk and was about to say something before Audrey cut him off saying " so just cause you have a gift, you go around pulling pranks? don't you have something better to do? frankly that's not even befitting the rank of a 'gift' it's only a quirk yet you wanna throw your weight around all willy nilly?". the boy's smirked instantly disappeared and he was instantly angered and said " how dare you powerless people belittle my GIFT". Audrey simply rolled her eyes and said " you give yourself too much credit kid. our neighborhood snake whisperers can pull out their pots and still do a better job than you. if that's ranked as a gift then I guess having two feet makes it a quirk."

The boy felt embarrassed as well as angry at Audrey and couldn't do anything but yell " Get out of here, you bitch, who do you think you are???"

At that point, Audrey only smiled in such a way that anyone would feel a shiver down their spine and the bullies were not an exception. she then said " me? I'm not anyone special. But I do have something to ask you though, what in the world made you think... that I was just some..

powerless bitch?"

At that time, any one with a functioning survival instinct,would know it was time to run .
