5 Chapter 5

Kenji woke up the next morning with an arm wrapped around his bare waist. Light snoring came from the blonde haired girl whose head was rested on his chest.

He carefully removed her arm and got out of bed. He walked to the bathroom and opened the medicine cabinet.

He pulled out a bottle of Ibuprofen and walked to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. After he got the water he walked back to his bedroom to wake Dani up.

“Hey, blondie, wake up.” Kenji whispered as he gently shook her shoulder to wake her. He watched her eyes slowly flutter open.

“Ow, shit.” She sat up and grabbed the side of her head. Kenji couldn’t help the slight smile after hearing the curse leave her lips.

“Here, for your head.” Kenji handed her the water and medicine. She took it quickly and thanked him.

“Come on, I’m hungry, let’s go eat breakfast.” Kenji held out his hand to her. She gratefully took his help and got out of bed.

She was suddenly more aware of their attire as she felt the cold air on her bare legs. She pulled the shirt she had on down to her mid thigh before wrapping her arms around herself to stay warm.

“You cold?” Kenji asked as he watched the girl shiver with her arms wrapped around her.

He didn’t let her answer and grabbed a hoodie from his closet and slipped it over her small frame.

“Thank you.” She blushed as she looked down at the black hoodie that she was practically swimming in with how large it was.

“Come on, blondie, I’m hungry.” Kenji led her to the kitchen.

Kenji grabbed two bowls out of the cupboard and passed them to Dani. “Can you grab the cereal? I have to wash another spoon.” Dani nodded and walked over to the fridge.

She looked up at the fridge and realized she was too short to reach. “Oh right, sorry about that, blondie.” Kenji chuckled from behind her. He reached over her and grabbed the box of cereal.

Dani rolled her eyes slightly before going to sit at the table. Kenji smiled at his light teasing before going to join her at the table.

“Thank you, for last night. I don’t know how to repay you.” Dani said as she thought of how much more her friends might’ve made her arty last night if it wasn’t for him.

“I have an idea.” Kenji said with a slightly nervous chuckle. “You could let me take you on a date?” Dani’s cheeks filled with color as she swallowed the bite of cereal.

“A date?” Dani repeated.

“Yes, a date. Obviously if you’re not comfortable then say no, but let me take you on a date.” Kenji smiled at the flustered girl.

“No, I’m comfortable. A-a date is cool.” Dani replied before taking another bite of her cereal.

“Okay, then it’s settled. I’ll text you about it, Wednesday.” Kenji smiled.

Dani nodded and looked up at the clock on the wall. “Oh, I didn’t realize how late it was! I’ll call an Uber, sorry. I have to finish writing something tonight.” Dani said as she stood, going to the sink to wash her bowl.

“Nah, I’ll drop you off. Safer that way.” Kenji replied as he took the bowl from her hand and placed it in the sink.

“Hey, at least let me wash my dish.” She argued as she looked up at the taller man who just snatched the bowl from her.

“Not a chance, blondie. Go get dressed.” Dani didn’t bother fighting back and just decided to get ready.
