3 Lucky Day

Everyone, including the magical wolf, turned their attention to the mysterious figure who appeared out of nowhere.

In a second, Ted had already made up a plan to get out of trouble.

As he focused his lightning magic on the part of his body, sparklings of lightning encircled his lower limbs.

Taking advantage of their surprise, Ted caught Eva in a princess carry before fleeing as fast as he could.

As everything happened so quickly, Eva didn't have time to see what happened before finding herself in an attractive boy's arms. He looked like a prince saving a damsel in distress from a fairytale she had read in a book.

His unusual silver short hair differentiated him from the men of her village and his cold eyes exuded confidence. Even nobles' appearance paled in comparison to his pale white skin with no imperfection.

"Who's this kid—"

"Ahhhh!"

Having regaining its sense, the wolf mercilessly bit the bald man's arm, leaving a bloody sight for everyone to see. Then, it killed all of them by creating Ice darts in the air and stared at Ted and Eva who were already far away as if it was deciding their fate.

It appeared that today Ted's luck was not so bad since the wolf wasn't interested in chasing them.

It already had three men for dinner, and going after two little kids would be a waste of time and energy.

As a magical beast, it possessed high intelligence, and it realized the little boy wasn't easy prey like the men it had killed—too many efforts for too little gain.

When an animal evolved, it becomes a magical beast. Contrary to normal animals, they can use elemental magic and increase their magic further over time.

Like humans, they also have a mana core in their bodies, serving as a mana converter. With a fast converter, one could use a powerful magic spell in a short amount of time.

Its purity color classified a mana core's quality. The darkest to the lightest was Black, Blue, Red, Green, Cyan, Yellow, White. At the moment, the Ry was deep red.

Despite seeing that the wolf wasn't interested in them, Ted continued to run for about twenty minutes for safety measures.

In the end, his energy was depleted, and his legs suffered lots of damage. As his body wasn't strong enough to withstand his power output, the old man told him to avoid using his lighting magic on his body too much unless danger arose.

While they were fleeing from the wolf, Eva has been gazing at Ted with her innocent eyes. The latter was confused by her reaction.

Shouldn't she be cautious of him? After all, he was a perfect stranger to her.

Exhausted, Ted rested his body against a tree while Eva sat a little away from him, following her savior's order.

Now that his adrenaline rush wore off, a considerable pain assaulted his mind. His legs were in terrible condition.

'Ahhh!!! This is so painful!!!'

His heart rate elevated as long as his blood pressure and respiratory rate. The sensation was as if countless swords were stabbing his legs nonstop.

Despite trying his best not to shout out loud, Eva still noticed something wrong.

"What's the matter?"

"No--Nothing!" Ted replied coldly.

Because of the pain, Ted barely managed to answer her questions. He didn't want to show his weakness to anyone.

There were many bruises on his legs, so Eva approached him to look more closely. However, to her surprise, Ted pushed her away.

"This is not your business! Leave me alone—" Ted stopped on his track.

Seeing her teary-eyed pout, he couldn't bring himself to continue shouting at Eva.

"Fine...J-Just don't touch my legs."

Upon hearing this, her teary-eyed face immediately disappeared. Like it was never there before, replaced by a radiant smile like the sun.

"Don't worry, I will help you back for saving me before!"

'What can a weak girl like you do...?' Ted didn't believe her at all.

Putting her hands in front of her, bright light of the same color as her blonde hair appeared out of thin air and slowly floated towards Ted.

As it neared him, Ted started getting nervous, but contrary to his expectation, instead of harming him, a warm feeling spread throughout his legs.

Images of his happy moments with grandpa flashed in his mind.

The day when Zane showed him magic, Ted had been so captivated by its beauty that he forgot about everything else. Before being a tool, magic was, for him, a fascinating and mysterious art. No one knew its origin nor its limits.

In the past, Zane had also taught him martial art. The old man said that it would help him learn to fight and strengthen his muscles simultaneously—killing two birds with one stone.

Personally, Ted preferred learning magic to martial arts. It was so frustrating when the old man never took him seriously and even more when he had that stupid mocking grin on his face.

Tears welled up in his eyes.

However, Ted was brought back to his sense when the warm feeling suddenly vanished.

Regaining his sense, he wiped away his tears and checked his body condition.

'My legs are normal again...'

Feeling a little weight on his shoulder, Ted turned his gaze towards the unconscious Eva.

'This girl...'
