Adler and Yua said in tandem.

With that, the voice disappeared. Adler and Yua sported blank looks as they blinked at each other.

A million questions started rising in their heads, but seeing the situation seems a bit... Whacky, they both cleared their minds.

"Even if that voice didn't tell us to, I was planning on surviving anyway. But what bothers me is, what are we surviving from?"

"I guess we need to find out huh?"

Adler squeezed his right palm and it immediately open his status window.

Yua also checked her stats to find similar numbers, while her level had shot up to 9.

Ever since they both found out about the hologram, they have been experimenting ways to increase their stats.

Adler found a Morphing Monster and threw a rock at it and it immediately chased him, he then began running till he managed to shake it of his tail.

They both repeated this till their agility managed to enter a comfortable zone for fighting. Afterwards, running away became a lot simpler, so they started attacking the monsters, and eventually began killing them.

After about a week of routine hunting, their stats have now inched up enough that those Morphing Monsters act as nothing more than meat for slaughter.

This past week, the only thing that has gone up isn't just their stats. Their trust in each other has also increased tremendously.

After coordinating attacks on monsters for a week non-stop, it would have been weird if their trust in each other didn't go up.

Having slipped out of death's hand's more than a few times with the help of Adler, Yua has been sobbing in his hands quite a lot.

Each time Adler pats her back while looking up at the heavens while enjoying her warmth in his chest.

"Hey Yua, what is for dinner today?"

"It's that frozen pizza we found at the convenience store."

After a couple of days of wandering Yua and Adler chanced up on an undamaged house in the outskirts of District 25 and they settled down there.

It was a small house with only one bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. After, having dinner they both sat on the bed to discuss today's findings.

"Yua check this out."

~Shing~

With a sound like metal scratching a blackboard, a small but bright white light formed on top of Adler's hands.

"What is that?!"

"It's like a flashlight, but it uses that Energeon thing from our stats to run it."

"How did you do that!"

Yua jumped up to hold Adler's hand close to her bosom and examine the light.

"When I went inside a house today, it was really dark and I didn't have a flashlight, so, I was cursing my luck when all of a sudden this thing lit up on my palm."

"So you just thought of it and it happened?"

~Nod~ ~Nod~

"Let me try it too!"

Excited at the thought of being able to do crazy stuff like that, Yua straightened up and imagined a light in her palm. Then,

~Shing~

Again with another sound, a small white light formed on top of Yua's hands.

"Wow! I did it! I did it!"

Jumping for joy Yua hugged Adler around his neck.

"Woah! This isn't anything to be that excited you know."

~THUD~

With that Adler fell on the bed with Yua on top of him. Quickly the blushing Yua got of him and sat straight while avoiding his eyes.

"I'm sorry about that."

"No, don't be, I actually like that side of you."

~Wink~

This only made Yua blush even harder as she stormed out of the room.

"Dummy, Dummmmy!"

"DOC rrrreek... TOR WE FOUND rrrreek... THE rrrreek..."

"OK BRING IT UP THROUGH THE SECOND TUNNEL."

"SURE rrrreek... TOR rrrreek..."

"HEY WHAT IS GOING ON DOWN THERE"

"AHHH! rrrreek... *Kaabooom*"

...

"Ahhhh! What... the hell was that?"

Adler shot out of bed screaming his head off.

"Adler, what is wrong? Did you have a nightmare or something?"

Yua asked in a worried voice from next to him.

"Ya, something like that."

"Well, I mean after what we've gone through these past few days it would be abnormal if you didn't have a nightmare or two."

With that said Yua sat up to look at Adler.

~Mfff~

Adler suddenly hugged Yua out of the blue.

"You won't leave me right?"

"Of course I won't."

Yua replied while returning the hug and patting Adler's head.

"Should I be your lap pillow?"

Yua asked in a joking tone, but to that,

"Sure!"

Adler didn't waste a second and shifted his head to Yua's head, causing her to again redden up going,

"Dummy, Baka..."

"What didn't you say you'd give me a lap pillow?"

"I did but..."

Adler cut in saying,

"Then it's settled then."

"Seems like you're all better now."

Yua pushed Adler of her lap and slept on the bed.

~THUD~

Adler fell of the bed with an expression that gave of the vibe of an abandoned puppy.

Both Adler and Yua woke up to a growl.

"Huh, where is it coming from?"

"Shhhh"

Adler got up and left the room, as he inched down the stairs, he was able to see the head of the culprit.

~WHACK~

Without a second thought, Adler jumped down the stairs and ran his hand through the monster's chest. His hand exited the back of the monster with a heart in it.

~POP~

Then Adler squeezed the heart till it popped in his hands. After a week of life in Gore Haven, Adler's take on the terms disgusting and scary have done a 180.

Yua then walked out of the bedroom heaving a sigh,

"We can't even get a good night sleep, I hate this messed up world!"

Then as they both went on with their daily morning routine,

Adler said in a pissed of tone, while the genderless voice carried on,

Adler was infuriated by the voice's jovial tone as it announced the death of hundreds of thousands of people.

Adler and Yua asked in tandem as they blinked at each other.

"Check the Status!"

Yua said as if realizing something, and sure enough there was button with ✶MAP✶ written on it.

The map opened to show a green dot, a yellow dot and a whole lot of red ones everywhere. Adler focused on the green dot, then it lit up with a tag,

While the yellow dot read,

✶Would you like to add Yua Madoka to you party? (Y/N)✶

Subconsciously Adler answered 'Yes',

~BEEP~

Yua checked her status after it started blinking, to see,

As soon as Yua answered 'Yes', the yellow dot on Adler's map turned green.

"We are now in a party together Adler!"

Yua stated in an excited voice,

"We sure are, aren't we?"

With that said, Adler focused on the red dots that was tagged,

"So, those weird morphing monsters are called 'Masked Genomes' huh?"

Yua asked without giving it much of a thought.

"Wait, there are more types?"

Adler asked as if he realized something,

"There are probably stronger monsters that will show up, SHIT! This is messed up I swear!"

Adler started cursing at the status window as he figured out this was probably just the beginning.

As his eyes went down to a corner of the window,

"So that monster you killed before was counted?"

Yua asked Adler after looking at what he was seeing.

"Seems like it."

With that said and an objective given to them they have to follow it whether they like it or not.
