29 Applied theory

A megalithic structure stood designed to look like the peace arch surrounded by a lush and vibrant forest, the gate emits an eerie feeling that can be felt when one is up close. In the center of the open arch is a spacial tare that continues to warp the space it is in. The arch was stood over and around the event horizon to prevent any stray creatures from venturing into the warp.

A woman on a Maple colored wizard clothing stood in front of the megalith screening those who wish to enter the rift. The woman is called Elva, a High Witch of the Zanid race also known as the people of mana, a race of humans born with an unnatural amount of mana. Most of their race die young because of the abundance of magic that they contain within their fragile bodies that if they could not contain it, the magic will contain them until they perish. Although they are categorized as a race, these peoples are born out of a human, with grater talent or not.

Beside the woman were two children, if judging by their hight they are at most fifteen or sixteen, the boy was dressed as a priest garbed in a white robe adorned with golden linings accompanied by an acolyte cap, on his hand was a staff a head taller than he is. and girl dressed a wizard in a blue elegant robe that touches the ground, and sleeves that hide her hand holding a short staff designed as a tree root grabbing a diamond.

The boy was handsome to a degree that girls would find it hard to resist staring when up close, and that is when he was not even smiling. The girl, on the other hand, was not something that people would call attractive, hiding the curves of her body with the inconspicuous robe that makes her look chubby, and her face was obviously altered to look less attractive in-game.

Above the pairs head is a stall sign saying: "Looking for 4-Elemental Boss Challengers Time Attack ASAP!"

"Sai, look at that sign over there," Izen said pointing to the pair beside the guardian, looking for help.

"What? Do you want to challenge the four bosses? I don't think we can do that yet, let's at least challenge one boss first to see of the skill we acquired are effective against the monsters." SayaShin proclaimed to his best friend.

"Okay, Let's see if we can challenge the boss within ten minutes." Mizarin challenged.

"Wah, that's a steep one," SayaShin admitted as they approach the Guarding NPC.

"Greetings lady, we would like to challenge the elemental realm," SayaShin announced tot he Guardian.

"What passage do you wish to enter?" Elva asked.

[System: Elemental Portal

Destination:

- Wind Element

- Fire Element

- Earth Element

- Water Element

- Four Stages

- Boss Hunt

Select one.]

"What do we choose? One Element, all Element or Bosses only?" SayaShin asked Mizarin how they should attack.

"Let us go for the Four stages, see if all the skills we got are good for this kind of dungeon."

"We choose the to challenge four stages," SayaShin declared earning the lingering sight of the two store owners as they both disappear into the spatial rift.

Exiting the warp portal, a vast hinterland greeted them, cold freezing wind assaults them with their breezy tropical attire, pale blue light enhances the landscape that stretches far and wide, gray and white mountains loom over a vast forest of evergreen trees and the occasional game trail leads the way to the bosses location.

[After Glow] Mizarin invoked on both of them.

A pale summer glow enveloped the travelers with a warming effect, preventing them from receiving the damage of the environment.

"Wow... It really makes me feel warm." SayaShin exclaimed.

"How much MP does is charge you?"

"Ohh. So it is unprecedented. I am using about 50 MP per second. MP regeneration should be able to cover."

"Try equipping your Chakram, see if the MP would be less a burden?"

"With the boost from the MP orbs, I can cast two sunny days and still be able to maintain the afterglow."

"How about you can you manage the spell?"

"It only costs me 10 MP per second."

The pair threaded forward towards the boss's location that their minimap indicates. When they reached the mouth of the forest path, rain of frozen arrows were sent their way, caught unprepared the two received an amount of damage cutting their HP to less than half.

[Temple Of Time] Mizarin invoked just in time before the second barrage reached them.

Small Winter soldiers, a creature of the ice elements in the form of a hovering ice cream cone with a pure ice form and icicles on hand, marched towards the pair with blind malice.

[Warm Patch] Mizarin cast, an AOE buff that is used to cure the freezing effect of ice attacks, a spell that enveloped the approaching platoon of ice minions.

500 (Critical Hit) appeared above the head of the creatures that were within the range of the blessing, almost taking away a third of their HP and continuously inflicts 50 points of damage for the minute that it is active.

"Wow... it's really effective! How many more times can you cast that spell?"

"With the talismans that I have prepared beforehand? About a hundred more times, but the problem is that they should be in the area it was activated on to be effective."

"I'll try mine then."

SayaShin invoked the spell [Burning Grounds], an AOE debuff that works on the environment rather than a specific player or group of players, with a range of 50 meters it coverage included the ice minions immediately causing a lot of damage.

800 (Fatal) appeared above the icy gems, causing some of them to fall down lifeless then slowly disappear.

"Wow... your skill is way better!"

"Haha... it took all my MP to cast that one spell, and not even enough to maintain it for a minute."

Unlike Mizarin's spell that could leech from the target's mana, SayaShin's was an environmental change, shifting the climate from cold to warm, devouring 10000 units of mana and not including the cost to maintain it which is 300 units of mana after the first ten seconds of its designated effective time.

The two felled the entire platoon in less than a minute after their encounter. Not giving another chance for the dangerous beings from causing them any more damage.

"Do you think we can keep this pace up?" Sai asked Izen.

"Yeah... To think that a buff spell could be used to damage elementals too."

"Just like medicine."

Izen did not understand immediately what Sai was referring to.

If anyone would see what the two had just done, they would faint from disbelief. To think that sending a life-saving skill could actually kill, not to mention it has a critical and fatal effect against the enemy.

"Like medicine?" Izen asked for clarification.

"Yeah, like medicine. You know how the right medicine would be a cure and the wrong one would be a poison."

"Oh... Yeah... where do you get this proverb from?" Izen laughed at her momentary loss.

After the loots of the fiends were collected, the pair moved on sending search spells to detect danger and prevent the ambush to repeat itself.

The journey through the white evergreen forest was smooth after the initial shock. They encountered ten waves of platoons with a variety of pawn to knight ice elementals. Dropping a number of started equipment, gold coins, and Ice stones; a concentrated ice elemental mana confined within the stones, which in Sai's opinion was the most valuable drop so-far.

The two reached the bottom of the mountain when a system notification shook them from their drained expression.

[System: A boss has been detected.]

The ground shook from a sound of roar that came from a hidden cave in the middle of the mountain, A large Yetis head poked out of the edge of a cliff where a crevice was located.

The creature jumped out of its den landing in-front of the pair. A three-meter tall beast now loomed before the two, behind it is an avalanche that is about to descend to the area where they are located.

White heavy mass was about to land on the area, the Yeti braced itself crouching into a ball protecting itself while Izen was reciting a spell for protection.

The avalanche was right in front of their faces when Izen finally materialized the spell [Sphere of Wind] enveloping them in a dome of wind that slowly froze because of the environmental effects.

"Wow!... that was a close one.!" Izen stated relieved.

"What do we do now?"

"Do you think your [Burning Ground] can melt all this snow?"

"Surely but what are you thinking?"

"Making a storm."

"Haha... But how are we going to inflict damage, buffs can only cause so much."

"I have an idea."

Invoking the spell [Burning Ground] Sai melt the ice producing a lot of steam and reveal a stony ground with allot of magnetic rocks. Followed by the spell [Sphere of Wind] that bounds the boss into the prison of wind.

Strong winds drifted towards the battleground, rushing towards the swirling dome of air. Warm heated air floats up from the burning ground, cold air pours down from above creating a wind tunnel. With the existence of the dome of wind all the elements converged towards the sphere and created an artificial miniature storm focusing at the Yeti.

"Start casting some sand blades," Izen said as she prepared to dance the Kagome-Talisman-Grimoire dance.

Sai as well begone dancing the trigram dance with a batch of talisman on hand and the grimoire already flipping through its pages.

Izen took the first hit, striking a talisman with an engraved spell of sand with a blade of wind. Followed by Sai who also struck a talisman with a sandblast spell enchanted on it. The sand blade was immediately devoured by the storm followed by four other sand blades that both sent.

"I will proceed with lightning talismans now," Sai informed as he took another batch of talisman from his inventory.

Izen and Sai shifted their barrage from sand to lightning elements, producing a beautiful light-show of lightning arching in and out of the dome striking the boss, creating a picturesque phenomenon of Bones inside a sphere while sparks are humping out and white dense mist streaming in.

What the two did was manipulate the elements in their natural state, not from the required spell but a combination of spells that cause an archaic effect.

First, the caused the air to have a difference in temperature less warm and hot warm air. The burning ground caused the snow to evaporate creating steam with lesser density and it rises up, cold air with higher density moves closer to the surface which later is heated by the burning ground. With hot air moving up and cold air moving down the interaction between the two winds create a wind tunnel just above the burning ground, gaining and losing heat.

With the development of wind tunnels, the dome of air quickly siphons in this rotating winds and speeds up its movement, creating a miniature storm.

The storm was just a tiny stationary storm without much damage to the Boss that it contained other than contain it preventing it from escaping with the vacuumed air.

The sand that the two had been sending had accumulated within the shield of wind mixing with the less warm and hot air. Sending a spell of lightning, thunders were created because of the interaction between the fast-moving air, wet particles of sand, and the energy from the lightning that was invoked.

In the natural world this is impossible to happen since we could neither control fire not can we have a dome of wind, but in-game where there is no natural airflow when all the elements are in place destructive phenomenon could be instigated.

A miniature thunderstorm was created, with its tiny Eye funneling air out of its center, the boss is trapped within a vacuum. With a vacuum atmosphere lightning passing from one suspended particle to another arching towards the Yeti which has by now received an amount of energy.

The Yeti with its fur acted as a beacon for lightning to land on, within a spun of 30 seconds thousands of small electric arches landed on the Boss.

Within a minute's time the Boss continued to receive the barrage of lightning and thundershock, preventing it from casting spells, inflicting stun, confusion, nor could it escape from the thunderstorm prison it is confined with.

90%... 60%... 40%... 10%...

The Boss was about to enter the berserk state when a bolt of accumulated lightning struck the overly energized fur, inflicting stun and preventing it from succeeding to enter the berserk state.

9%... the boss was still frozen stunned.

7%... the boss manages to free itself from being immobile.

2%... Sai and Izen increased the frequency of their attack increasing the spells proficiency.

1%... the Boss let out its final cry before dying and sprawling to the ground.

The two neither received any other damage other than the damage from the avalanche that the Boss had caused.

Collecting the loots of the now defeated boss, it did not drop any notable equipment nor weapons, other than the five pieces of higher grade Ice Stone, not even a skill book was dropped. It was a disappointing run for the two because it took them almost 15 minutes to challenge the floor, and with the uncertainties, the two hoped for the other floors to be easier to manage.

"To think that the theoretical laws are actually applicable here," Izen stated.

"Do you think that we could cause other theoretical whether controlling here?" Sai responded with a grin.
