1 Chapter 1- Reawakening

POW! POW! POW! Gun shots rang out in the not to far distance. I'm startled awake just as the shots settle down. My eyes open, and I'm in a high-tech military compound located in the sleeping quarters . Next to my bunk is a small white box; which has a finger sensor on the front of it. On the box reads Private Wright. "So, I presume this is mine?" Gun shots start up again and they sound closer. More of the guys wake up and start getting frantic over the current situation; which is still unknown to us.

A female voice comes over the intercom. "All militia evacuate to the escape room immediately. I repeat all militia evacuate to the escape room immediately we are under-" The intercom goes silent. The men in the room are now fully awake and aware of the situation. They all open their boxes and pull out their uniforms. I just sit there still trying to comprehend how this world will turn out. After some of the guys frantically leave, I finally decide it is a good idea to open my box and grab my uniform.

Just as I am about to put my pointer finger on the sensor to open the box, my comrade, Jackson comes over to me. "Wright hurry up and move your ass. As if you couldn't tell were under attack by..." He keeps yelling and yelling. Which makes me wonder if he is ever going to leave for safety himself. "Jason, I know. Just go Ill be fine." He stares at me for what feels like an eternity. Even though in reality it is no more than a second. Okay, but you better make it. I don't respond, and watch Jason go out the heavy automatic door. More gun shots rang outside of the quarters.

I reach over to my box and press my pointer finger on the sensor. The box opens slower than I would've liked, but the contents do not disappoint. Inside is my military uniform. The uniform is a type of light weight armor. Consisting of a long sleeve, long pants, boots, and a full-face helmet. The entirety of the uniform is midnight black with streaks of neon.

I can't contain my inner Otaku and smile with joy. "This is so much cooler in person." I say this because all the information I have up till now is based on the memories of my prior life of my body, in which I have not lived until now. Gun shots are becoming more frequent, and sound like they are now in the base. "Aw man I really wanted a flashback. Mm, I guess it can wait till later."

I finish putting on my gear and cant help but check the mirror, right above my box, to see what I looked like. I stand there flexing, what little, muscles I have and admire the time it must have taken to make these uniforms. Right now, according to my prior memories, I am in the year 2099 and there is a huge war going on between humanity and androids. "This sounds an awful lot like a movie I've seen before." We are losing the war and are almost extinct. "Good thing I only stay here for twenty-four hours."

Well since I'm still here and have a full day ahead of me might as well make the most of it. I step back from the mirror and head towards the door. BOOM! BANG! BOOM! BANG! Explosions rang out through the whole base. The quarters shake like an earth quake just struck. The reality of how serious the situation, is present, starts to sink in. I get my bearings and go to the door. Nothing. "Dammit!" I curse under my breath. Of course, the doors jammed. And because of the massive size and durability I am stuck. Well I guess the situation could be worse. I mean if the door is stuck from this side, that should mean that nobody can get in either.

I go back to lie down on my bunk. "Welp now that I'm stuck, I guess Ill just sleep my day away." I close my eyes for no more than a second when another barrage of explosions comes from outside. This time it is more powerful and packs a bigger punch. I nearly fall out of the bunk. "Darn this is escalating fast." I cant do anything about the current bombardment of explosions and gun shots. So, I close my eyes again.

This time I manage to get around a minute before another barrage of explosions goes off. After another violent fit I see the door budge, a little. "No way." I get up and start walking toward the door. There is a little light coming in from the rising sun. "Maybe if I find an item to provide leverage, I can manage to open the door." I run around the room and come up short. "Great now back to square zero." I say this because there was no square one. I stand at the door trying to think of more ideas when I hear a familiar voice. "Wright let me in now!" Jackson demands with worry in his voice. What the heck; why is he back? "I would, but the doors jammed." "That cant be, Dammit!" "Jackson why aren't you in the safe room?" I ask confused.

"The room it's been decimated, there's not a single speck of dust left of it." The enemy has that much fire power. I marvel at how much more powerful they are. Especially since we built them. Before I could respond another round of explosions came down on us. This time literally. Jason didn't have time to react. He got incinerated by the blast. The door, that was supposed blast proof, shook violently before breaking off and flying at me. I also didn't have time to react. The door lunged towards me with tremendous force and pushed me to the other side of the wall crushing me.

I can't move and my whole-body aches. "Cough, Cough!" Blood squirts out of my mouth. "Crap I'm definitely going to die." Not only am I pinned by a five-ton door, information from the prior memories, the room is on fire. The fire is crawling towards me slowly, but surely. I hope, if I die, I still go through the same cycle.

"I guess now's as good as ever to have that flash back." Time for the moment in my life where I was in an all time low; my high school years. Which to put in perspective were only ten days ago. Funny how things can change so fast. When I was in high school, I was not the most popular. In all honesty I was a loner and not in the cool rebel way. No, I was called a nerd by all the guys. Heck, even the most unpopular guys picked on me. Not to mention the girls called me a disgusting pervert, just because I liked anime and light novels. So, my social life was nonexistence. Not to mention it wasn't much better at home. My parents where always away on business and didn't make time for me.

With all the factors I decided that, after I graduated, I was going to end my life. I don't know why I didn't decide to end my life before I graduated. I guess I wanted to die with at least one accomplishment. Albeit a small one. So, graduation came, and I did just what I said. It was honestly the perfect time to do it. My parents went away again, and the house was to myself. The night after I graduated, I went into my parents room and unlocked my dads gun cabinet. I pulled out some type of small pistol and loaded it.

After I loaded the pistol, I turned off the safety. My mind was racing with everything that could go wrong and if I still wanted to go through with it. My answer was still a yes after a long struggle with my innate nature to want to stay alive. I brought the gun up to my temple. I could feel the barrel pressed against my skin with its cold, lifeless, killing intent.

I put my pointer finger on the trigger and.... Nothing. I couldn't pull the trigger. After how much I wanted the gun to go off, my finger would not budge. I don't remember too much of what happened after I couldn't go through with it. I just remember putting the gun to my head, and then my minds a blank. I suppose, I put the pistol back and then was so emotionally drained that I went to sleep.

Now is where my life gets interesting. The next morning, I woke up in a field of tall grass. There was a slight summer breeze with the sun baring on my skin. The sky was a brilliant blue. I've never seen such a beautiful sky till that day. I was wearing nothing too spectacular. The clothes were a tan color and long. With the end of the sleeves and pants in ruffles. This was the beginning of what I call, Reawakening.
