Xavier Academy for Gifted Youngsters (1)

The distance from New York to Westchester wasn't small, if you had a car at your disposal which Aegon didn't, at least not yet. What he did have at his disposal was the ability of all hollows, Garganta. In Aegon's case, the Throat he created didn't take him to Hueco Mundo for obvious reasons, but it was still an incredible ability. It was the last of the hollow abilities he learned to use, but the one that brought the most surprise.

Aegon's Throat transported him into a void from which he could open another gorge to any place he was aware of. Also, there was the possibility of traveling between distant realms and planets, but that remained to be seen.

Aegon appeared in a secluded spot in Westchester where no one would see him and which was also close to the Academy. He then walked towards the entrance of the Academy. When he reached the entrance he ignored the fence and just jumped over it to continue walking towards the gate of the mansion. By the time he reached the door Logan came out to greet him.

"Logan, you're not the welcome I expected. This place looks awesome."

"Chico was about to grab a beer when the alarms around the property started going off. Turns out it was you, don't you know how to knock before you come in? You know what, forget it, come over and the professor wants to meet you."

"Actually, I did it expecting to see something like a team of ninjas or a commando of mutants who came out ready to attack me."

Logan looked at him thinking 'this idiot is watching too many movies'.

"And Logan, sexy girls with powers or bald guys in wheelchairs who go around messing with other people's minds. Who do you think I came to see?"

Logan snorted before answering him. "Actually, I thought you were coming to visit Scott. Your relationship seemed pretty close."

"Don't even kiddingly say something like that. It gives me chills to think of something like that."

"Hahahaha." Logan could only laugh. "Follow me."

As they walked through the mansion, Aegon reached for the bottle of whiskey he carried in his backpack. "By the way, I think you're more into beers, but I thought this one would be more difficult to obtain. Though looking around I might be wrong."

"Whiskey? Damn this is expensive, thanks boy." Logan thanked him without even bothering to ask how he had come by something like that.

In a few minutes they reached the door of Professor Xavier's office. Logan didn't even bother knocking and walked into the office. Inside were the professor and Hank whom Aegon remembered from the time they had gone to pick up Scott from the foster home.

Charles this is the boy we told you about. The 2 men seemed used to Logan's attitude.

"You must be the reason the alarms went off. I tried to sense who might be responsible, but apart from your presence I couldn't sense anything else. It's just as Jean described." Charles answered, finding the young man in front of him interesting and then remembering that he still hadn't introduced himself. "Excuse my manners, my name is Charles Xavier professor and founder of the Xavier Academy for Gifted Youngsters, welcome Aegon."

Charles continued introducing Beast. "Here is my colleague Professor Henry Phillip McCoy, a math and science professor at the academy."

Hank greeted Aegon by holding out his hand which Aegon accepted. "You can call me Hank, everyone does."

"I remember you both from the time you went to pick up Scott at the foster home." Aegon told them.

"On that occasion I sent a mental alteration that was to make everyone believe that a familiar had picked up Scott. That means that already on that occasion you were able to block me."

"Blocking would not be the right thing to do, let's just say it's passive as it's not something I do intentionally and I have no idea how to disable it if possible."

"Impressive. I'm surprised you don't show aversion to my powers, much would be scary. Being able to block me isn't surprising though."

"Exactly, I don't mean to offend you Professor, but if I didn't know my mind was safe from someone like you I would certainly be worried, I think anyone would be."

"Don't worry, I understand your point of view." Charles understood that people, even if they were mutants like him, would always be wary of him.

"For what it's worth, I'm sure I would constantly abuse my powers in his place. It would be too tempting to play games with others."

Charles hearing Aegon's words made a face of discomfort. "That is a path that leads to destruction, if I did something like that I would be violating all my moral lines and I would end up corrupting myself. I would stop being able to become something I despise."

Aegon thought if this was really true, maybe the Charles of this universe had strong moral codes. "Well, I'm glad it's you who has those skills and not someone else." Then he gave her both thumbs up. There was no way he would completely trust this guy.

Hank feeling curious about something intervened. "Logan and the rest told us that you told them you weren't a mutant. How can you be so sure?"

"That's private, but if they have a way to find out if I'm a mutant or not, they can figure it out." Aegon replied without giving it much thought.

"I'd just need some of your DNA, but you're safe. I don't want you to get a bad impression of us."

"Don't worry, have." Aegon handed her a strand of hair. That was more than enough to check if the X gene was present in Aegon.

Hank took the hair samples. "Well I'll be in the lab, it will only take a few minutes to run all the necessary tests. I'll let you know as soon as the results are in."

Once Hank left Logan also left saying that he had a football game to watch.

Seeing that they had been left alone, Charles began to speak. "I guess they left me the host job. You must have come to see the boys, come I'll take you to where they are. I think it will be a good opportunity to explain a little about the academy and its purpose."

As they walked through the halls of the mansion, Charles began to tell Aegon about the purpose of the academy.

"The existence of mutants is something that is still hidden from the world, but this will not be for long. Every day more and more mutants appear, some cannot hide what they are, others have no interest in remaining hidden."

"How come nobody knows about the existence of mutants?" This was something Aegon wanted to ask a long time ago, though he had an idea.

"Let's just say that I could be responsible for it. Aegon people tend to fear the unknown so if the subject of mutants is not handled with the utmost care, the repercussions could be brutal."

Pausing, Charles continued. "Many mutants represent a danger to people, I am proof of that, don't you think?" He continued after seeing how Aegon nodded indicating that he understood what he wanted to express. "There are mutants who are a danger even to themselves. Many will look in awe at what mutants are capable of, but the vast majority will fear them. If the numbers were too small and the appearance didn't change, perhaps the situation could be different, they would be seen as exotic human beings, but with the growing numbers people might see us as a threat. A new race and not just humans who have taken a step in evolution."

"I understand everything you say and I agree, but where do you want to go with the professor."

"Just listen to me, the purpose for which I founded this academy is to teach young people like you and others not so young to control their powers, give them a home where they are not rejected. At the same time that I intend to give them an education in a welcoming environment, I teach them to integrate with society and prevent them from using their powers to get what they want by force."

"Not everyone who possesses power shows respect for others. Power can make some people like us agree superior to the rest and that kind of attitude would have severe repercussions on all mutants. I assure you that even among mutants themselves there is discrimination ."

"Sounds like someone who has experience with it is a professor."

"Unfortunately I do. My dream is that one day ordinary people and mutants can live together in peace. I know it won't be an easy task, but it's a dream worth fighting for." The professor sounded full of confidence that his dream was possible.
