10 The jump

A new day arrived and while everyone in town was waking up from a fabulous night of restful sleep, in an abandoned subway station a man was finishing his work.

".....¡I finished! ... at last! .... It took me all night to do it, but this should protect me from Xavier and Magneto, at least for a while.

As I celebrate, I watch the fruit of my labor....

On my laboratory table is the solution to protect me from those who are looking for me.

On the table is a beautiful large clock, not too big to be an exaggeration, but big enough to cover my wrist and part of my arm.

The watch generates an electromagnetic field that will keep Magneto's powers at bay, preventing them from directly affecting me or whatever I touch.

  In theory that same magnetic field serves as an alarm for telepaths, because thoughts are transmitted by small electrical discharges in the brain, I don't know yet. Whether the field will be sufficient to prevent them from reading my mind but at least I will know if someone is doing it.

The design of the watch, if I am honest, is based on the wristbands of the superior Spider-man's suit and a watch that I always wanted to have in the past when I was a child. The ultimatrix. From Ben 10.

"If I'm going to do something, I'll do it to my liking.

Tired, I get ready to go home, but before that, my phone rings, and from the ring tone I realize that it took longer than I thought to make the watch.

I take the phone and answer the call.

"Hello,"

"Peter, where are you, honey? I went to your room so you could go down to the kitchen for breakfast and you weren't there,...". May asked me.

"I'm so sorry Aunt May, I forgot to tell you that I had to get to school early, to prepare some documents with the team's coach, ..... You know, the team needs a new formation to win this year."

".....that's okay Peter.,.... I'm glad to know that you are doing more than just focusing on your studies and using your intelligence to help others.... Don't worry, I'll save some pancakes for you when you get back."

"That would be great auntie, because I'll be back hungry, I have to go, bye."

And after saying goodbye, I hung up the call and noticed that it was not long before the start of the classes.

"This is bad, if he missed classes 2 days in a row it will look suspicious and they could call May to ask for me,... the school is far away, I won't make it if I go running..... I need to be faster..."

At that moment an idea crossed my mind.

"I think I'll have to go ahead with the balancing test and do it today.

I ran as fast as I could and went upstairs to a small building, 

"This height should be enough, well.....here I go... I can...."

Watching Spider-Man on TV swinging may look great and amazing, but now that it's my turn to do it, I don't think the idea of jumping off a building is at all nice,...

"Come on....¡Come on!... remember what the movie of The Spider said see.... it's just a leap of faith!....."

I prepared myself mentally for the jump, I started running to take speed little by little I was getting closer to the edge of the building,..... closer....and closer....and finally....

I did not jump....

"How did you end up on the other side of town and not have breakfast? ...I thought the smart ones didn't go through things like that Parker.." Flash asked me.

After not jumping and getting out of the building, I started thinking of a way to get to school on time, luckily I got the flash phone number, 

Now that I am his friend, asking for his help will not be difficult..

"I fell asleep on the train and when I woke up I was already far away..." I responded to Flash.

"Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha, typical of you Parker,.... but.... well you are lucky, it is not every day that someone who is not a girl can travel in the incredible car of the incredible Flash Thompson..." Flash said as he laughed.

"Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, .... ! Exactly! You know Parker, I heard a rumor that a beautiful girl transferred to our school, one of the guys on the team said he saw her yesterday with the teachers arranging for her to come to class..."

What he said caught my attention, because I know the girl he's talking about.

"Do you know what this means Parker? ....."

"That we will have a new classmate" I answered him sarcastically.

"No!... it means I'm going to show off today during the sports class softball game.... That's why I'm warning you that if you end up on the opposite team, you better run..." 

"Thank you for the Flash tip, but don't worry, I've been working out, it won't be so easy to hit the ball. I responded with confidence.

"Ha, Ha, Ha, I hope so, I'll look better in front of the girls.

And so we continue the journey to the school.
