13 FOUL PLAY

WONHEE flinched when the young female doctor who came to take a sample of her blood handled the job quite roughly.

Her right elbow had several bruises that she got from the syringe.

Doctor Chen missed her veins a few times, so the doctor had to do it again and again until she finally filled the three small vials with Wonhee's blood.

Why do I have a feeling that the doctor missed on purpose?

"Miss Chu, it will take four to five hours before the result of your blood test comes out," Doctor Chen said indifferently. "Please wait in this room until the result is out."

Wonhee smiled and nodded politely. "I understand, Doctor. Thank you."

Doctor Chen and her medical team then left the room quietly.

The room in question actually looked like a hospital room.

Wonhee was even wearing a light blue patient's pajamas. She was asked by the medical team to change into those clothes after she was escorted to that room. Her clothes, including her phone and handbag, were then taken away from her.

It makes me feel that I'm really a patient here.

To be honest, she didn't want to agree to have her blood taken without her legal representatives.

But what could she do?

The APA is the new law in the country.

If she didn't cooperate, then she might really end up getting locked up in prison.

I'll just wait for my legal representatives and sue APA once I'm out. For now, I must be on my best behavior so they can't accuse me of disobedience later.

That's a doctor?

Fortunately, she stopped hearing voices in her head soon.

Wonhee nodded to herself. "Let's sue them all later."

But that thought didn't comfort her.

How in the world did I hear the medical team talking when they were already out of earshot?

"HUNTER Seodam, I'm sending you to the Crack that burst just now," Kwon Jiwoong, the APA President, said to Lee Seodam. Then he gave the exact location to the Hunter. "According to the staff that's stationed there, it's an A-Grade Crack."

Just like the Awakened People, the Cracks were also classified based on their difficulty level.

E-Grade Cracks were the weakest, while S-Grade Cracks were the most dangerous.

The A-Grade Cracks were also dangerous since they were only second to S-Grade Cracks, hence only A-Class Hunters and above were allowed to raid them.

Fortunately, Lee Seodam has already leveled up to A-Class level.

"I know you just dealt with an A-Grade Crack a week ago, but we're short on people at the moment," Jiwoong said, patting Lee Seodam on the shoulder. "I'm entrusting this one to you as well."

To be honest, he expected Seodam to accept the new mission right away.

However, the Hunter actually looked hesitant.

"President Kwon, there are other A-Class Hunters on standby, right?" Lee Seodam asked hesitantly. "I feel bad for leaving Wonhee here, so can you give this mission to another party?"

"Hunter Seodam, I know how special Miss Chu is to you. I promise you that I'll take care of her while she's here. And remember, this is APA– the agency built to accommodate the Awakened People and to protect the Civilians."

Only then did the Hunter look relieved.

"Then I'll entrust Wonhee to you, President Kwon," Lee Seodam said, smiling as if he was relieved. "Please take good care of her for me."

Jiwoong smiled back at the naïve young man. "Of course, I'll make sure Miss Chu is safe."

"WE'LL GET rid of Chu Wonhee tonight," Kwon Jiwoong announced while entering his office. "Her legal representatives are more persistent than I thought." He sat on his fancy chair and leaned back against the backrest while loosening up his tie. "She's just an actress. How come she has the best lawyers from the number one law firm in the country?"

The laws changed when the entire world did.

Now there were lawyers who specialized in things related to Awakened People.

But none of those lawyers dared to question APA before since everyone knew APA was the law in this country. So Jiwoong was surprised when Chu Wonhee's legal representatives didn't hesitate to threaten APA to release their client.

To be fair, he was aware that they were detaining that actress illegally, since the result of her blood test hadn't come out yet.

It doesn't matter since I'm certain the result would turn out positive anyway.

"Miss Chu may be a Civilian, but she's still a famous celebrity," his companion said, sitting on the sofa while playing on his phone. "Can we afford to get rid of her?"

Jiwoong laughed at his companion's ridiculous worry. "That actress' reputation would plummet anyway once we released the result of her drug test. Moreover, she's an orphan. No family member of hers would come out and demand justice. Getting rid of Chu Wonhee would just look like getting rid of a drug addict who tried to commit Forced Awakening."

Once it was proven that Chu Wonhee really took the Forced Awakening drugs, then even her legal representatives would drop the case.

"Then how do you plan to get rid of Miss Chu, President Kwon?"

"We made her take the Forced Awakening drug for a reason," Jiwoong said, smiling while his vision was starting to turn into reality. "Chu Wonhee is probably starting to awaken at this very moment, so we must seize this golden opportunity."

After all, an Awakened Person was the strongest when her powers had just started to manifest.

Hence, it was the 'golden' opportunity for them.

Jiwoong smirked. "Chu Wonhee is the perfect test subject, so let's throw her to the Patient X's room."

"You're really a horrible bastard, Kwon Jiwoong."

He laughed when his companion finally dropped the formalities and cursed at him.

"You don't have the right to say that to me since you're the one who's going to benefit the most from this experiment," Jiwoong said, raising an eyebrow at his companion. "Once Chu Wonhee disappears, you can finally make Lee Seodam completely yours, Park Ruda."

Park Ruda, the androgynous-looking Guide, made a face at Jiwoong. "I can make Lee Seodam mine even if Chu Wonhee is in the picture, you know?"
