Old Habits Die Hard

It's time for lunch so everybody hopped on the bus and ready to head to the beach not far from The Spice Garden. It took them a few minutes to reach the beach. They were going to have a picnic lunch on the beach before heading back to school.

Bia was busy setting up the mats for them to sit on and some teachers were watching the kids while other teachers and parents whoever came to volunteer on that day were busy preparing the healthy snacks. Bia was not alone because the father and son duo were helping her. "Nicky, why don't you join your friends? how about you join the boys who are playing the football over there. And Mr.Davis, can you help me keep an eye on them, please.."

"I want to but daddy said....", Grant covered Nicky's mouth so fast before Nicky blurted out the secret. It's not really a secret though, Grant just asked Nicky to stay with him so Bia won't chase him away or run away from him. But who knew that Bia was always ready to send Grant away so he said to Nicky and carried Nicky away to join the crowd, "Let's go, Nicky".

"Sorry daddy, I forgot.."

"It's okay son", Grant put Nicky down and ruffled his hair. Bia was curious, Nicky couldn't finish his sentence and Grant already dragged Nicky away. 'Well.. who cares... oh they look so adorable together', Bia was talking to herself.

The weather is perfect for a picnic on the beach. Under the shade of the trees, on the white sandy beach, the cool sea breeze with the salt in the air and the birds are entertaining them with their songs. Yes, they are living in the tropical paradise.

Bia, Grant, Nicky, Ema, Cindy, a few teachers and a few kids were sitting on the same mat, while Grant were sitting beside Bia.

Everybody were famished, they were having their lunch in silence but the adults' eyes were on Grant and Bia. As for kids, their eyes were on their food, they couldn't care less about anything else other than food.

As the saying goes 'Old Habits Die Hard', Grant was taking out the onions from the hamburger and passed it to Bia because Bia hates raw onions. Then when Cindy was going to pass the watermelon juice to Grant, Bia took it and gave Grant the orange juice instead. Grant also picked the small pieces of roasted pumpkin off from her salad and put them on his plate. They did all of that subconsciously, everyone was aware but them. Ema sighed while looking at them and thinking about Akira's future, 'Akira, someone is going to take your woman away and I hope she'll stay with you and don't get swoop away'.

"Can you stop sighing so much, my day is already ruined seeing those two being lovey-dovey.. your sighing made me more depressed", Cindy swatted Ema's hand.

"Ouch, that's hurt", Ema said while rubbing her hand.

"Oh, stop it.. it's not that hard", Cindy snapped back at Ema.

"I better stay away from you, I don't want to get hurt when you explode at the end".

"You...", Cindy wanted to hit her again but Ema dashed away so fast and already join the other group in a record time.

Grant was the first to realise what happened but he just continued what he's doing and seem to enjoy every moment. For the whole time, Bia had no clue, she was so busy attending the kids and whatever she passed to Grant or unintentionally ate whatever Grant put on her plate, it was just the old habits and no meaning behind it. Poor Grant, he thought he was one step closer to Bia..

After the lunch, the whole group made their way back to school. It was later then the scheduled time because the kids didn't want to go home, they had so much fun. And not only the kids that didn't want to end the fun, the teachers had a good time too and so was Grant.

When they reached the school, the parents were already waiting to pick up their kids.

Meanwhile, Nicky was sleeping on Bia's lap.

"Thanks Bia and sorry for the trouble, Nicky insisted to sit with you just now", Grant said.

"No worries Mr.Davis", Bia answered him and Grant lifted the sleep Nicky up from Bia's lap then he carried Nicky.

"Bia, stop calling me like that".

"You are Mr.Davis, aren't you? don't block my way, I've got work to do", Bia pushed him but he didn't budge.

"I saw Ema has already settled that, all the kids has left with their parents. Don't you think the three of us just like a perfect family, Bia?"

"You are four years too late. I don't want to wake Nicky up so move...", Bia was staring at him.

"Bia, we can start over.. I know you love me and you also know that I love you more than anything".

"I loved you, the love is the past tense".

"Bia, you should know that Nicky and I...", Bia just cut his sentence off before he could finish.

"Look, The Principal is coming", she pointed out of the window and slipped away when Grant turned around to see The so-called Principal but actually Bia tricked him, The Principal is not there. Bia used this time ran away again and he lost his chance to tell her the truth again. 'There goes my love, she can't stand the sight of me anymore, let's go home my boy', Grant muttered to himself.

Bia ran so fast and left Grant standing in bus with confused look. She needed to get away from him because she's worried she'll get agitated and hysterical again like the other day. She's getting better at controlling her emotions now, Akira's face kept appearing in her head and made her calm her mind, he is her man, her now and her future. Suddenly she missed Akira so much so she planned to surprise him tonight.
