Scarlett, Augustine's mother, was a shaman and not your typical human. Everybody respected the woman, but she had a dark side to her nature, which involved her having an affair with another rogue in her pack, with whom she had formed allies.

Arthur was the result of one of her affairs.

She was chasing the outlaws to satisfy her cravings and beg for their help because she could not seem to move on from Conrad Donovan's abandonment.

Unfortunately, Scarlett ended her relationship with the rogue by killing him when he started to demand more, but she chose to keep their son alive.

Arthur was endowed by his mother with certain unique traits from birth. His wolf barely found its way, and it was unchangeable.

Scarlett, however, decided to keep him because she wished to continue her shaman lineage.
