11 Chapter 11

"A gun? I also have those."

As soon as Shen said that, two pistols appeared on each of his hands. Everyone only had time to say, "Hey! Hey!" "Hey!" "Hey!" before a series of gunshots rang, and all the gunmen on Johnny's side were kneeling with holes on their arms as the guns they had dropped to the floor.

In just one moment, the situation reversed again.

Shen placed the pistol, which still had smoke coming out of its muzzle, casually on the table. He glanced at Johnny whose forehead was covered in cold sweat holding his arm.

"It seems that I have the final say here, don't you agree?" Shen asked.

"Yes...Yes!" Johnny said, his back drenched in cold sweat. The fucker was obviously a martial artist. How was his gunmanship so abnormal? I didn't even see it clearly before everyone had bullet holes in their arms.

Glancing at the gun on the table, Johnny didn't dare to move..

"Then you can go." Shen waved.

Johnny didn't think that he would let him go so easily. He hesitated a little before fleeing with his men.

"Boss, are you sure?" When the guns were pointed at them, the group of martial artists was filled with cold sweat, but they did not back down. Shen was satisfied with their performance.

Shen knows what they mean. They are afraid that the group of hooligans would come back for revenge. "It is not the time." Shen picked up the coffee that Albert had just poured and took a light drink.

Old Albert was the most calm, second only to Shen. When the thugs pulled out their guns, he tried to step in front of Shen but was stopped by the latter. He quietly stood behind the coffee pot behind Shen.

Outside the martial arts hall, Steve watched a group of gangsters rush into the martial arts hall. Worried about the safety of the people inside, he was preparing to call the police but after a brief noisy fight, everything regained its calm.

Soon after, Steve's face turned ugly when he heard a series of gunshots, he thought that the gang had killed everyone.

He saw a group frantically fleeing the scene soon after. Steve hurried to the martial arts hall and nervously opened the door.

The door easily swung open. It seems that they were very anxious to leave, and even forgot to close the door of the "crime scene", Steve's bad feelings became stronger.

Steve was imagining all kinds of things while opening the door, but he was left stunned when he saw what was on the other side. There were no corpses, no rivers of blood. There were people gathered around a sofa, talking about something. Hearing the sound of the door opening, some of the people gathered turned their heads in his direction, suspicious.

Looking at the scattered blood on the ground Steve finally pieced everything together. The mafia weren't fleeing the crime scene, they were fleeing from these guys!

"That, I... I just saw... the door was open..." Steve nervously said.

Steve didn't know how to explain, how would you justify barging into other people's homes? He can't exactly say that he thought they were all killed so he wanted to check!

"Come in." Shen said, looking at the thin figure by the door. His face looked a little embarrassed, but he still couldn't cover the kindness and integrity in his bones.Others would have long since escaped and left everyone to die.

"You saw the gang coming in, and heard the gunshots, you were afraid that we had an accident?" he asked Steve.

"Yes... yes, sir." Steve felt relieved and glanced at Shen.

"Come and sit down. Eddie, help him get a cup." Shen invited.

Steve didn't have anything important to do, so he just came in. At the moment, he was just excited to finally have a good look at the mysterious martial arts hall. An independent practice room covered with thick floor mats. There was a small platform in the corner of the hall. The spacious hall was covered with solid wood flooring. There are several weapons racks neatly placed on the wall, filled with weapons of various lengths, most of which, Steve has never seen before.

Only a set of sofa and coffee tables were placed near the window. The layout of the entire martial arts hall was very simple and clean, and there was no grandeur that Steve imagined.

Steve contemplated for a long time before he sat down in front of Shen. The old butler with the white hair poured him a cup of coffee and then went away with the others to clean up the hall that was messed up by the mafia.

"Shen Mo, from China, and the owner of this martial arts hall." Shen raised his glass at Steve.

"Steve Rogers, from Brooklyn, an ordinary worker." Steve did not feel inferior because of his own low status as an ordinary worker. He took a deep breath, to get his nerves under control, when he calmed down, he humbly introduced himself, then took a sip of the coffee offered to him in a relaxed manner.

This is the temperament of Captain America that he remembered.

"You are not like an ordinary worker." Shen said with a smile.

"I just don't know how to be afraid." Steve said self deprecatingly as he thought of his weak and thin body.

"We have an old saying in China, that only the brave wins on a narrow path." Shen gently said, like a kind elder.

"There are a lot of powerful people, but there are very few people who really have the courage. It is the most important thing to become strong."

"Those people you saw outside, do you think they are strong?" Shen asked, pointing his finger outside.

Steve recalled what the mafia looked like. "They are very strong and there were so many of them."

"But in the end they were defeated. They didn't have the courage to resist, and they ran away like cowards, they were weak. But you have a brave heart. So in my opinion, you are stronger than them." Shen said.

"But my body..." In fact, Steve is not willing to admit that he is weak, so he stands up again and again.

Shen waved his hand to stop him. "The body is easier to strengthen with exercise. What is important is that you have the courage to fight against your own powerful enemy. You can live without fear and claw your way out of a desperate situation!"

Steve's eyes are bright, do I really have what it takes? Steve's inner desire to become stronger grew.

"So, can I learn from you?" Steve gathered his courage and asked, though a little embarrassed.

Shen nodded affirmatively. "Of course, you are very talented."

"But I don't have money." Steve said sadly.

"You can still become an apprentice. In addition to studying martial arts, you'll be tasked to clean and do other chores. You won't get much though, just $50 a month. What do you say?" Shen did not give him a high salary at once, since he accepted him under the guise of him being talented, giving him a high salary from the get go would just make him suspicious.

"Really? Thank you, I will work hard!" Steve said excitedly.

The salary here is much more than what he makes working at the factory, and he could learn how to become strong here so he accepted. Steve feels that his life has a brand new beginning. He is grateful to Chen Mo and secretly vows to work and study. To not let Shen down.

After Steve left, Shen finished the last bit of coffee in his cup and got up from the sofa.

"Eddie, I'm heading out."
