4 We're Late!

After Natalia disconnected the call, Alexis was frantically trying to gather her things to get ready for class. She put on her academy's uniform, put her cell phones in a bag, and ran downstairs. As she was running downstairs, she almost missed a step and toppled down; she was very nervous because she was never late for her class.

Melissa had a day shift today and she was preparing breakfast for both of them. When she saw Alexis running towards the main door, she shouted, "Lexi! Breakfast is ready, eat something before you go."

Alexis did not want to disappoint her mother so she dashed towards the kitchen table, grabbed a sandwich and rushed back towards the door while saying, "I'm already late mom. I'll eat this on the way."

On a normal day, she would walk to the academy which was 25 minutes away from her home. But today she had booked a cab directly from her home to the academy. As soon as Alexis stepped inside, the cab's thrusters pushed the cab off the ground, hovered for a second and took off. The cab was moving at a very fast pace but Alexis was still fidgeting her legs out of impatience. After about three minutes, just when she finished eating her sandwich, the cab stopped in front of the gate of the SpaceTravel Academy.

"We have arrived at our destination. It will be 15 points in total." The driver of the cab announced this and was waiting for his payment.

Alexis reached into her bag and took out her old cell phone. "How much was it again?" She asked to reconfirm.

"15 points, Miss", said the driver without feeling the need to face towards his passenger.

Alexis opened her payment app, scanned the driver's account and then transferred 15 points to the cab driver. As soon as she got off the cab, she stormed off towards her class.

Alexis ran for almost about four minutes to reach her Galactic Location class. While catching her breath and wiping sweats that were trickling down from her temple, she peeked inside to see if the professor was already there or not. Fortunately, she had reached before the professor and considered herself lucky. She gave out a small sigh of relief while settling down in her seat.

She looked to the side of her seat and as expected, Natalia was not there yet. Soon, the professor entered the class and started the lesson. And after almost about 15 minutes, Natalia walked like a cat through the back door and took her seat. The professor did not notice Natalia entering the class and carried on with the lecture.

Natalia gave a wicked smile to Alexis and whispered, "I thought I would get a good scolding today but… lucky me!" She squealed and then gave Alexis a wink. Alexis showed her a hand gesture to keep quiet but right then, Professor Nolan noticed Natalia.

"Please refrain from whispering in between my lecture Miss Natalia because we are discussing about important matter here. But why do I even expect good behavior from you?" Professor said these words to demean Natalia and resumed with his lecture.

The excitement in Natalia's face a while ago had already turned into embarrassment. She could not even imagine what would be Liam's reaction to this but luckily Liam was not in this class.

After hours of boring lectures in other classes, Natalia finally met Liam in Flight Simulation class. She was blushing when she saw Liam. Liam was a handsome young man with blonde hair and a good stature. He was majoring to be a doctor and was aiming to be a crew doctor of a spaceship in near future. He was also soft-spoken, which Natalia liked the most about Liam.

Liam broke the ice and said, "Hey Natalia! You are looking very beautiful."

Natalia blushed even more when she replied, "Thank you!" She was always a talkative one but she could not think of anything to carry the conversation forward.

Before it got awkward, Liam showed his excitement for their date tonight, "I cannot wait to see you for the date tonight. You haven't forgotten right?"

"Of course not, how can I forget? I'm also looking forward for tonight." After contemplating for a while, Natalia said in excitement, "I also have something to show you. I hope you'll like it." Natalia's eyes were twinkling with joy as she said this and headed towards her deck after giving Liam a warm smile.

"Whatever it is, I'm sure I'll like it", Liam was shouting from behind as Natalia was walking towards her assigned deck.

The Flight Simulation class took place in a room which was designed to imitate the looks and feel of a real spaceship. The main purpose of this class was to bring together students of different major in one place to simulate the actual crew and let them carry out mock missions.

Alexis would mostly be in the pilot or co-pilot seat, Natalia would be in the engineering deck checking the performance, and Liam would be in the medical deck looking after any students with sickness which mostly used to be space sickness in the simulation.

Mina's boyfriend Jimmy was also in this class and he mostly used to take the role of captain or lieutenant. He had noticed Alexis in this class and always thought that she was very beautiful. When Alexis entered the room, Jimmy was standing beside the captain's seat.

She recognized Jimmy as Mina's boyfriend and didn't know whether she should feel thankful towards him for saving her life yesterday or feel sorry that his girlfriend was a bully. She just gave him a soft smile when their eyes met. Before yesterday she had not really noticed him, she just used to listen to his voice when he gave commands in the simulation.

After the class was over, Natalia and Alexis met at the doorway of the simulation class. "Hey! Lexi. I'll hurry back towards my home today okay. Oh my stars! I have so many preparations to do before date tonight." Natalia whispered this near Alexis's ear with a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Yeah, Go on. Have a lot of fun okay. I would love to hear about it tomorrow." Alexis gave words of encouragement to her friend with equal excitement.

Natalia squeaked, "I don't think I can wait till tomorrow to share about what happened, I'll call you as soon as I reach home." And she hurried back towards her home.

Alexis was happy for her best friend that she found someone who cares about her. But at the same time a feeling of loneliness hit her. Natalia was her best friend since childhood and she never felt the need to make another friend. But now that Natalia started dating, she felt a sense of uneasiness in her heart.
