16 Chapter 15 Wake up will you?

Death feels peaceful, every body say. But is it? Death makes you go numb, feeling nothing. But what's with all the aching? Volca wondered. She couldn't tell between feeling dead and listening to the things happening around or if she is sick and unconscious. The ache in every inch of her body did not feel like death but rather suffering for the sins. But what sins if you are a demon already. Existing itself is a sin.

The rumbling didn't seem to stop next to her and she grew curious to know what it is. The footsteps were heard often in the room. And even sometimes, someone sitting next to her. Reading to her. "What is this person doing?" she would think and then listen to everything he says, half mindedly. From the lower pitched male voice which was pretty good to listen to anyway, she could tell it is a man. She, since was bored and tried in between her failed attempts to wake up, she would just use the opportunity to rest and try to fall asleep.

Some days he would share about the places he had visited. Going for trekking on mountains alone, watching the sunrise and sitting there for a long time, lost in the thoughts. He said he always found peace in doing it.

Some days the topic would be food. "I had a wonderful plate full of grilled meat rolled in a bread. It was called Shawarma, people said. I mean, the juicy chicken, that lettuce, tomatoes and carrots chopped and seasoned with some spices and thick mayo over the top, trust me it tasted like heaven, I can still feel them in my mouth, some day you should try them out," he would keep on going without break. And Volca did enjoy the speech. "There was a time us boys in the dormitory sneaked out to get some snacks after signing the attendance register at night, it was a funny day, we almost got caught by the warden but narrowly escaped because of girl who helped us hide. But the hotdog we got from the nearby supermarket, it tasted the best that night, probably because we were sneaking and snacking them, you should someday come to my university, you will love it."

The other day he talked about his day at work. "It was a hustle, I couldn't find a single place without people to continue with photography for the upcoming project I must submit, I should find similar street matching the theme I have chosen soon, and am running out of time," to him, she was a stress buster, pouring his worries out.

"What's photography? What is the theme you chose?" she wanted to ask him back. She wanted to know about it. But failed again, as usual. Listening to the unknown voice thus became a habit, in the most strangest time she is going through, as the only comfort. She missed the days she didn't hear the voice. And once it took too long to hear them. And then she never heard them again. "Did he leave?" she wondered. "Will he not come back? Will he never come back? Am I left alone again?" she felt terribly upset which brought back the pain inside her heart apart from the physical wounds again, when Huo filled her mind. Tears once again streamed down her face. She badly wished that she is an angel, and not the unlucky woman, a badass murderous Demoness.

She could feel how the days passed again, lonely and dark. But she never stopped attempting to wake up. And it happened one day. Without even trying much, she felt herself, she felt her body and she felt the blood flowing inside her. She felt her body moving and felt her heart again. "Yes," she said. And eyes opened. The lights hurt her eyes, that brought tears. She shut them again and opened them and kept trying, trying to adjust her pupils with the sunlight. The room looked bright and she was next to the windows, The white walls with some charts and painting hanging, it was too silent except for some sound. And immediately she looked around for the constant rumbling she was hearing around her. So many big machines, so many unknown things displayed on the screens, so many controls and all of them connected to her body. She looked down on her chest and felt shocked. She started pulling them all out. "Jeez," The machines started making noises.

And when it did, people in white long coats started running inside the room towards her. "Hold her," One man said. And other two grabbed her arms and pushed her down back to bed.
