Chapter 28: More Mysterious stuff

Chapter 28: More Mysterious stuff

Thanks to all the information we got about the Uneven Order and the pending danger or whatever, we started our journey to the Safezone.

It was farther than we expected, originally we would be on a three days trip from the police station. But thanks to jungle justice and getting lost a few times, later finding out our vehicles had been taken when we got back, we were forced to trek five days on the road.

Unfortunately my umbrella is on the verge of collapse, avoiding the sunlight has been hell in heaven and when I get slightly grazed by the light it's like I become a whole new creature.

Sometimes I get dreams about my past, at times I have dreams of my sister in tears praying for me to survive and find her.....

We would say they are just dreams but my dreams at times come to life and that gives me more tension to find her.

I hope she is at the Safezone like everyone else and also, if I can charge my phone a bit I would be glad. But unfortunately the power has been down for ages.

Not to forget during this past days, I have been hearing voices and seeing mirages of the horror doll

I thought it was dead, probably defeated from our encounters but it's somehow in me and I am scared of it's existence.

So far with the group, everyone is as friendly as usual and we welcomed Colby, Jay and Jessie (his team) well enough.

At least even with this crowd we encountered a small zombie horde and killed them.

At that time I got an opening to drink my last bottle if blood and acquire three other bottles. It's not the best way to live although it's the only way at the moment.

Sometimes, I fear one day, this group will no longer be here.

"Man, how long do we have till we get to the city, my legs are shaking," Skylar complained having stood all night patrolling the surroundings as a watchdog.

"We are almost there, just about thirty minutes more of treking," Colby insisted before taking a big swig of water from his bottle and throwing the empty plastic down.

'Shit, with a group as large as this I have literally shared almost all my rations,' Eri smiled bitterly.

Soon he turned to Gambit and saw him reading another book, this one was particularly a novel written by a popular Author he knew about.

"Nice book you've got in your hands," Eri complemented gaining Gambit's attention.

Gambit smiled making sure to read the last line of the paragraph before replying kindly, "it's the last book I have with me, a fantasy book about dwarfs, elves, dragons and other fantasized beasts, really good stuff."

Eri could vouch for the book, it was truly good and not to mention one of the best fantasy novels ever, "I found an empty book in the store I was trapped in during the beginning of the world's end and wrote a bit in it, a novel of only eighteen chapters now."

Gambit furrowed his eyes to what type of person would write in this apocalypse but after considering his situation as a reader he held it in and only smiled, "I won't be paying to read your book Eri, I bet it's gonna be a load of awesome."

"Yeah it is," Eri was pleasured by Gambit's reply.

They kept at this conversation for a while discussing fantasy, books and movies they had watched before the apocalypse.

Eri got a better view of the kind of person Gambit was and gave respect to him.

He did not conduct himself as a rugged and serious adult but like a fun loving free guy that was not scared of saying his feelings out.

'Yes I can note this out, this group are my friends.'

"Eri! Gambit! Are you mad!" Skylar pulled on Eri's collar dragging him to a cemented wall while Colby did the same for Gambit.

Together they hid behind this wall with all the soldiers.

Unknown to them, they had reached the city that led to the Safe zone.

The only problem was....

Eri peeked past the wall and as far as his eyes could see, were zombies ranging to a number he could not count, enthralling the entire street like ants.

"Hundreds of zombies?" Gambit gulped from the point he peeked at them.

"No...."
