Chapter 20: Safezone

"Kurkaaahkkkk!!!" Eri screamed as his skin began to burn into ash exhuming fumes of smoke. He was not even able to get himself as the pain was too much to withstand.

At this point Eri's wish was to die there.

Just as his body began to burn to ash and flames Elsa jumped on Eri tackling him down to the ground and acting as a cover to him.

"AHHHHKAAYAAKKKA!" Though she reduced the burden Eri couldn't help but scream out in pain.

"Help me Carl!" She screamed to Carl who was the closest to them.

Carl wasted time to contemplate before running into the station and bringing out a large umbrella and ran to their aid.

He placed the umbrella in a way that shielded Eri and Elsa from the sun and the situation calmed down a bit.

Eri was still shivering. Though his skin was hot as hell, Elsa ignored the pain and grabbed Eri by his hot boiling hand and whispered into his ears, "Calm down Eri, can you bare with us a little till we get to the station?"

Luckily Eri had gained enough sanity to nod.

It took a few seconds but soon enough Eri climbed to his feet with the help of Elsa hiding under the shadow the umbrella made.

Elsa studied his eyes and he looked like a cat afraid of water edging so close that it was like he was hugging her from behind and this made her redden in embarrassment but she bared it.

Soon enough they came up to the station slipping past the gates and to the front of the doors which was shaded by it's ceiling.

Now Carl dropped the umbrella and held Eri's palm in worry, "are you ok.....?"

Through Eri's eyes he could see every blood vessel in Carl's body and tried to resist it as his skin and brain began to ease itself.

'For a second when the sun hit me I felt like a true beast,' Eri tightened his fist as he regained his stamina and his skin began to regenerate from the burns.

"I'm ok Carl no need to worry about me," He played a fake smile to get Carl to calm down but Carl was sure this was a untrue.

"Are you alright?" Gambit rushed to them with Skylar following behind, "we heard you screaming!"

'Damn, I am going to get exposed at this point!' Eri tightened his look sensing the apprehension in the air, "uhm, I am afraid I have a strange..... Skin disease, my skin care got finished yesterday too."

Now they all looked sad, even Skylar who he expected less from.

'He must have seen me throw the spear, now what will they think of me? I lied about my strength and everything! I don't really work well with people do I?' Eri smiled bitterly.

"If that's the case we'll make sure to ask for a medicine place in the safe zone, but for now let's raid the....."

Creak! The doors of the station opened up and out came military soldiers which they counted as twelve holding bags filled with what looked like guns and food, and so much more resources. They were also armed heavily.

"You have good battle spirit kids, and we owe you our gratitude for taking out the muant alligators," the oldest and most high ranked millitary officer spoke with such a nice calming voice.

None of them would simply fall for this as they had stressed their asses around to simply make this rewards.

"You owe us our loot!" Sky who was the worst injured spouted rudely to the soldiers.

Crack! The lead millitary officer handled his gun a bit to intimidate them and it worked perfectly.

"Take whatever you want," no one wanted to say it so Eri did. Even he could not match the speed of a bullet, if this got dragged any longer they would end up dying.

"Hahaha! I like you kid, why don't you guys ride with us to the safe zone, there is food, shelter and....."

"Food!" Carlos was already fantasizing his favorite meal there.

Elsa patted him on the back her own thoughts on decent cloths and a shower.

While Sky and Eri had the same line of thoughts of a bed, sleeping on hard floors and uncomfortable tight corners were unbearable.

"There's no harm, since we are on the less privileged here," Gambit spoke for the group and the Military boss signalled to his men and out of the corners of the police station drove a few tank cars with other men in them.

'They must have brought a brigade and got trapped when the alligators came, if not for us they would have died or worse.'

"We loot food and materials not for our selfish needs but for the people back at camp!" Now the millitary officer was starting to sound like a nice guy.

"We will be pleasured to come with you," Gambit tried to sound kinder buy his face still held a scowl, probably because the millitary let them do all the hard work instead of helping and that almost cost his teammates.

"Not to forget, I'm sorry, my name is Barnabas and you will be hearing of me quite often from now on," with that they began to troop out to the trucks.

Sky and Gambit followed at first while Carl handed Eri his umbrella and Elsa urged them to walk together to pick their bags.

While they did this Eri simply frowned and screamed in his mind, 'Is a moment to long for all this guy's to leave me alone I want to get my refill on blood.'
