Prologue

"You look nice, Vernon," Janice said to me as she helped me fix my clothes.

"Wow, my little brother looks handsome," Kuya Zane said teasingly as he approached.

"Look at you with your fancy necktie," I said to Zane.

"Just let me know when we're leaving," Zane said before he left.

"Come on, Janice," I said, and we left together.

We got into the car and headed to school, and when we arrived, I went straight to our room while Janice and Kuya Zane went to the court.

"So it's Vernon after all, I thought it was someone else," Evelyn said to me.

"You're early, Evelyn," I said.

"Of course, it's me," she joked.

We finished setting up for the Halloween party.

Before long, others started arriving.

We all went to the court together, and the music was already playing, signaling the start of the party.

"Can I dance with you?" Keith asked me.

"Of course, Keith, he's all yours," Evelyn said to Keith.

"So, can I, Vernon?" he asked.

"Yeah, sure," I said, making him happy.
