2 The Sad Truth *Rewritten

*The next Day*

*Lucy POV*

I don't want to get up. But I have to get Zack up go to PK I doubt he even wants to go yesterday was quite upsetting for him. Hopefully he won't be picked on or get accused of being quirkless.

I walked into Zack's room to wake him up only to find a round object under Zack's blankets on his bed it's a little smaller than a basketball in an oval like shape.

"I guess he's already up."

As soon as I said that the oval like shape in Zack's sheets started shaking a little.

"Did he sneaked in a dog last night?"

I pulled off the sheets over that oval shaped thing that was in Zack's covers but it wasn't a dog but a bluish silver slime creature in the center of the pajamas that Zack was waring last night.

"AHHHHHHH!!!"

Michael woke up because of the my scream and ran over to me with a panicked look on his face as he found me.

"WH-!? WHAT HAPPENED?!"

I had my hand over my mouth with tears forming in my eyes pointing down at the slime. I was completely and utterly scared shaking even.

"Is that his quirk!?"

I didn't answer Michael's question as the slime and I just kept shaking.

*Michael then embraced me*

"Calm down hun I'll call the doctor."

"huh uh"

Michael pulled out his phone and called the doctor's office that Zack and I went to yesterday.

The doctor's office wasn't going to be open for another hour so Michael went ahead and called his office saying he wouldn't be in today and did the same to Zach's school. What's exactly going on?! Is this truly Zacks quirk? What type of quirk is this I've never seen or heard about this one before. Zack? Was still shaking so I decided to pick him up.

"sssssh it's ok sweetie I got you, I got you."

Okay good he stopped shaking. Why is he heavier in this form then he is in his human form?! It literally doesn't make any sense!

"Hehe baby you've gained wait."

He expanded a bit I think he's bit happy but he got a bit heavy too. Michael saw me struggling with him and asked me if he could hold him.

"Oh he has gained weight hehe we shouldn't have given him that extra ice cream last night."- Michael

"Hehe, told you"

Michael was cradling him with his four arms, I didn't think he was that heavy. God what is Zack's quirk?! I'm so worried,

"Mike I'm gonna see if I can find information about his quirk online. Can you take care of him until I'm done?"

"You read my mind, I'm gonna go ahead and cook breakfast you want anything in particular?

"Nah I'm still shook up somewhat."

"I understand."

Michael went downstairs in the kitchen and put Zack in his regular chair and started cooking breakfast, he cooked scrambled eggs and cinnamon toast. while I was on my tablet looking up Zacks quirk. Here it is!? The slime quirk!

"Hun I found Zacks quirk!"

I went downstairs to Michael with my tablet he was still cooking and Zack was sitting in his chair?

"You know he can't see he's smaller than he was before!"

"Oh I didn't think about that."

I put my tablet on the kitchen table picked up Zack and put him on the table. He was lightly jumping or hopping I think he's laughing? Does Zack find it funny that I'm yelling at his father?

"Do you find that funny sweetheart?"

He doesn't stop lightly jumping so I'll take that as a yes. I take a seat at the kitchen table and started reading about Zack's quirk.

"The slime quirk is extremely rare there's no rhyme or reason why one develops. It can develop within any family it doesn't matter what type of quirks the parents have. It's not very different for every slime/kid that develops one mainly just a different color. Whenever a kid develops a slime quirk they usually develop the same personality over time. A lot of this is very cryptic it says that if we want to know more to consult our Doctor or Physician without our child present to hear the conversation."

"That's so Ahh! What type of cryptic BS is this?!"

Michael losing his cool it rarely ever happens. Zack started to shaking again after he heard that so I picked him up again.

"Stop it you're scaring him! It ok sweetheart I'll figure this out."

I lightly started to rub him he is surprisingly smooth. He stopped shaking soon after I started rubbing him. I should make that appointment soon.

"Mike watch Zack I gotta make a call."

After I gave him Zack I didn't immediately go and make the call I went upstairs and took a shower and put some fresh clothes on it had been an hour or so I went so I grabbed my cell phone to call the hospital I went to yesterday to make an appointment.

"....Yes doctor Yest Please.... Yes doctor do you remember me Lucy Todd from yesterday you tried to x-ray my son's foot but wouldn't work."

"Ah yes I remember how can I help you?"

"It's about my son."

"Yeah? Has he developed a quirk?"

"Yeah I think he has the slime quirk."

A bit of time went by before he continued.

"Do you think that why he's bones weren't showing up on the x-ray?"

"No I think that because he turned into a slime!"

I got a little agitated what should I do? A bit more time passed before he continued. I got tired of him doing this but I'll put up with it for now.

"Come in for a consolation visit please."

"When?"

"As soon as possible."

"I can come in at 7pm after my shift is that ok?"

"That's fine but bring pictures of your son the more the better."

"Ok?"

'Why do I need to takes pictures?'

*Later that night at the hospital*

Man what a long day the anticipation is killing me, I wanna know what I can do for my Zack. I took many pictures with Zack, me and Michael in different rooms in different in different positions some up close to Zack some not. I feel a little embarrassed now tho I felt like I was bringing Zack home for the first time.

"Doctor I'm her-"

When I entered into office where I was told to go not only just the doctor was in the room but a man in a nice white dress shirt and black khaki pants.

"H-Hey I'm Lucy"

"Hey nice to meet ya names Nick I'm the director of the hospital."

"So exactly what's going on with my son?"

"Right why don't you take a seat?"

He was gesturing to the chair in front of the desk, so I took the seat.

"First I would like to see the photos."

"Sure?"

I pulled out my phone while Dr. Yest came in closer to see the pictures they took a few minutes scrolling through all the pictures. Their faces kept getting grimmer as they went through the photos.

" You seem like y'all are having fun."- Nick

"He's definitely a slime but I've never seen a slime like him before they're usually one color from the rainbow like blue or red not bluish silver like him"- Yest

"Yeah please tell me how he reacts when you talk to him or anything does he appear to respond when you talk to him or ask him a question?"-Nick

"Well when I went into his bedroom this morning his appearance shocked me causing me to scream he was shaking I think I woke him up oh and there was earlier this morning when I yelled at his father he was jumping up and down or hopping in place I think he was laughing. Does that help?"

"Oh it does he's extremely energetic that's a good thing. Pxrobably the most energetic slime quirk user ever."- Nick

"I don't really understand what this means?"- Lucy

"Yes apologies it's just a bitter pill to swallow"- Nick

"Kids that usually develop a slime quirk never figure out how to go back to there human form."- Yest

"What?! Why?!"

"We don't know why, no one knows why."- Nick

"...What then I'll never hold my baby again?!" My voice was already starting to crack with tears in my eyes.

"No, well you can still hold him just in his slime form."- Yest

"But-but he can't even talk!"

" I-I know there's two more things you should know and they're even worse."- Nick

"HOW MUCH WORSE CAN IT GET FOR HIM!"

Lucy was in the verge of crying.

"Please calm down we can't proceed like this"- Nick

"Sniff Sniff"

Lucy took a few minutes to calm herself down.

"Go on"- Lucy

"The lifespan of a slime is not know."- Yest

"What?"

"Let's just say the first slime is still around but she doesn't do anything."- Nick

"Wha-"

"She's nearly 12 years old now."- Yest

"....."

"She's there but not there she barely moves at all."- Nick

"What do you mean!?"

"We're not sure when or how they die. Or if they can even die. Everything what we know today is just based on theories and tests." - Yest

"They get bored if they don't have enough entertainment and there'll soon stop moving."- Nick

Does that mean he has an immortal body? Does that mean my son will be stuck like that forever? Tears already started forming in my eyes.

"I see you understand."- Nick

I didn't respond for a few minutes.

"How long does he have?"

"After the kid is separated from his parents or someone he loves very much is 3 years."- Yest

"How many slimes have there been?"

"We don't know we only know basic information."- Nick

"Why don't you euthanize them!?"

"Well it not like scientists haven't tried they just can't their bodies are incredibly durable not even Endeavors blue flames can leave much of a scratch on them. Some scientists even tried to drown them with enormous amount of water but they'll just sink to the bottom or dissolve it if they haven't given up" - Nick

"...."

I couldn't say anything, what could I say, am I gonna die without seeing him happy again or grandchildren? No I don't want that I don't wanna him to lose his humanity after I'm gone. The tears won't stop flowing from my face.

"Take all the time you need."- Nick

*20 Minutes Later*

"Thank you."

"Its no problem."- Nick

"Here it a catalog on how to raise a kid with a slime quirk."- Yest

"Thank you Dr. Yest."

"Why don't you get some rest for the night."- Nick

"Thank you I will."

I grabbed the catalog and left of the office, I don't know what I'm going to do but I won't let him lose his humanity after I'm gone.
