45 Weekend camping trip

Me and Rumi had packed to bags and some camping supplies. However before we got out into the woods way behind the UA Campus we stopped at the supermarket.

My head was still somewhat ringing from the absorption affects. What was worse was normally I absorbed sunlight to recover and energize for the day now. However I couldn't seemed to absorb energy without also absorbing sound. So I was left with a headache.

"Des Cactus Jerky or Beef Jerky?"

"Why not both?"

"Eh, you are right. Jerky is the perfect hiking snack."

"I would've thought you would want something like a granola bar."

"Nah that stuff is only good when you are at a high elevation. It is why airplane food tastes differently. The food they serve isn't meant for elevation."

"That doesn't make sense."

"Yeah, well I never cared for science so I don't know the reason why. I just know the knowledge."

Rumi seemed like someone who had good grades when she was in school. Except never actually paid any attention to class. As we went down various aisles of the grocery store she steadily bounced. It was almost not noticeable, but I was starting to see the small signs of her excitement. Rumi would bounce ever so slightly when she was excited. I could mostly tell due to the jiggle she had. Point was though, Rumi was clearly excited to bring me camping.

"Do you really like Camping?"

"Oh Yeah! I would go camping all the time as a kid. At first it was just things like in my backyard where I would watch the stars and stuff. Except later it grew into a bigger hobby."

"So you stargaze?"

"Haha, why is astronomy to nerdy for you?"

"No, just think its odd coming from you."

"Ah well, when i was once a kid I had thought I wonder if the aliens on other planets had a quirk like mine. Would they just be like this quirk is a Strange mutation of unknown animal? Later when I grew up I more or less just stopped thinking about it." She shrugged slightly, "Heh, if things went differently I might've been an astronomer you know."

I pictured a Nerdy Rumi with glasses with a man-killer sweater and Khakis. However Rumi was taller than most women and even a good portion of men. Her height slightly threw that image off, since Rumi was mostly muscle I couldn't really imagine a not athletic Rumi. "Yeah I can't see it."

"Haha very funny."

Buying the food we would eat while camping had taken only and hour and it would take another 2 for Rumi to drive us out to the woods.

"Oooh! I can't wait. I know this is just a trip out of town so we can deal with the Sound Absorption training, but if we have time I want to do some camping activities! First things first we will hike up the trail to the camp site. After that we will set up our tent and then we can start a campfire. Once done we will roast some smores and hotdogs! A classic camping meal!"

Rumi could cook to survive, but her actually meals were meh. So I guessed the simplicity of camping made her happy to cook things. "Rumi I never really asked, but can you eat hotdogs?"

"Eh...Well truth be told they hurt my stomach. I can eat meat, but due to my quirk, most of my biology does match similarly to a rabbit. So I can eat meat, but only like 40% of the meat a normal grown woman can eat for a healthy diet. So I actually bough half and half sausages. So they aren't actually hotdogs, but just a 50% veggie Bratwurst."

I nodded, that made some sense. Though I had to wonder slightly how the sausages were made with 50% veggies. "Rumi...You have a heat cycle right? Does that mean technically if you get pregnant you would have multiple children at once?"

"God I hope not! Though honestly, I had my tubes tied....So I can't have kids. So we never really have to worry about protection. However...don't expect sex, it is a reward for mastering your new abilities quickly."

I nodded, "Okay, so speaking of that how are we gonna do that?"

"Well, I have a noise canceling ear buds. I am gonna be using those when you activate in hopes it doesn't make me sick." I knew the ones she was talking about since I watched her pack them. They were fitted for her rabbit ears. "We won't practice today, but we will practice on both Saturday and Sunday. Oh and I do have a normal pair of noise canceling headphones for you to wear encase you need it. However I think it would be best you don't wear them, that way you can learn to filter the noise from the sound absorption so you can still hear while you absorb sound."

"What about the electricity?"

"Eh, I brought some things along to test that on as well. We can try and have you siphon one at a time."

Rumi really had planned the whole trip, not to mention she did it so quickly while still feeling sick. I mean she was really excited. Honestly I think I should just do my best to master the new abilities quickly so she can have some fun with more camping activities. Before we drive out of range of the cell towers I sent a text to Jess to where I was going. As well as one addressed to the class which explained my sick day. It was a little late, but Rumi had already sent a much more fulfilled report to the school. Explaining that we would go camping in the woods so I can train.

Rumi likely also sent a note to her agency that told of her absence as well. Rumi didn't really handle any direct work with her agency and apparently other people do it for her. I kind of also wanted to see Rumi in the forest since she was pretty skilled and mobile in a city. I wondered if her quirk applied some sort of better skill within a forest or her personal skill just affected her job within the city.

I checked the clock only and hour before we arrive at the camp. I was feeling a little excited myself. I had never left the city before. This was likely going to be my first time to leave it.

----So small note here half the chapter was completed by someone else. Aka me! I'm not the author. He's in bed actually, nothing serious he just did something stupid and got hurt. I suppose you can call me dos? Except it I likely won't have to finish a chapter again like this so it will be fiiiine.-----
