13 Chapter 13: Entrance Exam Start

Looking around him, Izuku could already see many other participants preparing themselves for the following entrance exam.

'There are even Support Items! I didn't even know we were allowed to use them in this test. Maybe something connected with his quirk?' Izuku muttered to himself, looking at the blond boy with a support item that looked like a belt.

Looking further, Izuku could also see many other people seemingly lost in their own thoughts.

Considering that this test would decide if their dream can come to fruition, most of them should be nervous.

Many parents actually didn't want their children to be Heroes since the death rate of Heroes is actually pretty high, so they offered them a deal that if they didn't make it into the U.A. High, they would go into a regular high school.

Izuku heard of many such cases, but not everybody can be a Hero in the end. 

In the current era, every kid wants to be a Hero at least once in their lives.

It's a sad fact that can't be changed: Without enough determination or strength, people can only be ordinary heroes at the bottom of the chain if they can even get a hero license in the first place. 

The death rates of such heroes at the bottom are higher than any other job there is, and that is the reason why parents do something seemingly so cruel thing to their children.

Stopping to watch them further, Izuku finally started to analyze the situation he was currently facing and, without any thought, began to walk toward the massive city gate that was the entrance to the test they had to take in some minutes.

'Being one of the first inside the city should be an advantage.' Izuku thought to himself.

But before he could even take three steps, a hand suddenly wanted to grasp his shoulder, only for the hand who tried to hold him to go through his body in a show of light. 

'That was certainly not a friendly grap to my shoulder, or my ability wouldn't have been activated.' Izuku thought to himself with some distress. 'What did I do this time? Is it the same as in Middle School? Am I just an optimal target for bullies or something like that?' Izuku thought depressingly.

Typically, someone would think that having Observation Haki would hinder things like that from happening, but the ability, like Izuku's Devil Fruit, needed too much Physical strength to operate for the whole time.

Of course, since he now knew that somebody tried to hold him back, he turned to look at the offender only to see the same blue-haired rude boy from the previous introduction. 

Still, instead of his glare, he had a dumbfounded look on his face while he looked at his hand and the reforming shoulder of Izuku in front of him.

"Is that your quirk?! Never mind that! Don't you see the girl there wants to collect herself before the entrance exam, so why do you want to disturb her? If you only want to make trouble for the others, please leave this instant!" The boy said in an aggrieved voice, speaking so loud that some of the other participants started looking at the two in wonder.

Izuku could even hear them whispering to each other about him being a pervert and whatnot.

Looking at the girl he was pointing at, Izuku could see a petite brown-haired girl with what many would call a cute overall look. 

Not that Izuku cared since he had Nejire and didn't look at other girls in such a way; he only saw a brown-haired girl trying to calm her nerves before taking the test.

Tilting his head, Izuku looked back at the blue-haired boy and wondered what his problem was. 

When did he plan to disturb the girl? 

But before Izuku could open his mouth to answer the rude boy, he suddenly heard a loud voice screaming through the testing ground.

"START!"

Not even a second after Izuku heard the shout from Present Mic, he started his devil Fruit and vanished in a bright yellow light from where he had just stood a second ago.

'That will surely cost me some much-needed physical strength, but at least I can farm some early points.' Izuku thought to himself while appearing in front of his first Robot.

It didn't take a second for Izuku to form a small laser with his finger that instantly bombarded the small Robot in front of him.

The laser went through the first robot quickly and then even penetrated two other robots that stood in line with the first one. 

Disturbing to the people who watched that scene, the beam didn't stop there and still penetrated some houses before exploding completely, taking with it an entire smaller-sized skyscraper.

The only bad thing in that scene was probably Izuku, who was now already completely exhausted stumbling out of the explosion.

'That was completely unnecessary. Why did I do that? I could just break them with a normal kick, considering how powerful I got with the pills and Sea King flesh. That one beam cost me half of my energy.' Izuku thought to himself bitterly while looking at the weak robots in front of him.

He forgot that the robots were designed for even people without offensive quirks to be able to destroy them.

When the other participants still looked stupidly at this scene, Present Mic suddenly yelled at them.

"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR! THE TEST ALREADY STARTED. THERE IS NO COUNTDOWN IN THE REAL WORLD EITHER!"

That shout brought them out of their mood, and they quickly walked after Izuku, entering the city where the test was held.

Still seeing the display of power from Izuku, some of them couldn't help but wonder if they really wanted to be a Hero.
