15 Knowledge is Power

I'm sitting on the floor exhausted from yet another "Quirk testing" exercise.

"Izuku, you have managed to gain some control over your original Quirk. Your limit for controlled uses seems to vary though."

"Speaking of… since I've regained One For All, i've noticed something my own Quirk. I seem to have a pool of time, at least that's what I call it, that I use to fuel my Quirk."

"Really?" Sensei asks.

"Yeah it almost feels like there are charges of some kind, it's weird. I feel the pool getting bigger as time passes, but….. It always seems to stop after it reaches give or take 36 charges" I say with uncertainty.

"Hmm…. how many "Charges" does that Reversal of yours take?" Sensei asks.

"Let me try it real quick" I say while feeling how many charges I have. I seem to have 13 Charges at the moment, well here it goes. I activate Reversal, which causes my eyes to glow silver.

I wait a while before looking at my charges once more. Huh… I'm down to 1 Charge now.

"It takes 12 Charges Kaito Sensei."

"Well I guess that explains your variable use, you don't have enough fuel to activate it too often" he says thinking for a moment. "Not to worry, your Quirk will grow as you get older and as you use it. You should try to find out how long it takes to recover a charge."

"Yes Sensei."

"On another note, I'm sure you noticed that some of your body's recovery abilities are enhanced" Kaito Sensei says.

"Yeah, I need just a few minutes before I'm raring to go again. There was also that time Recovery Girl healed me, it was different than I remember…" I say scratching my head.

"Yes, you mentioned that you weren't tired. I have the feeling that your Quirk affects most of your body's functions passively."

"Hmmm….. Idk if it's relevant, but I am having a sort of disconnect with my surroundings" I say thinking back to class the other day.

"In class, the teacher has constantly scolded me for zoning out. Everytime that happens, I feel like I'm reading far faster than everyone else and they are playing catch up."

"Perhaps your brain processes information faster nowadays" he speculates. "Either way, we should figure out if there are any other applications of your Quirk."

"Yes Sensei!" I yell out and after resting for a while we continue to go at it until I'm exhausted again where I try to activate my own Quirk.

This goes on for several weeks before I decide that I need to do some research. The subject of that research is the concept of time and its aspects. I spend a few unfruitful days of study in the library, before giving up and slumping down.

I found several different ideas on time, but none of them seem to vaguely useful. Most of them were talking about things like the philosophy of time and what not.

I stay like that for a few minutes until someone taps on my shoulder. I look up to see who it was, only to find Yaoyorozu looking concerned "Hi Yaoyorozu" I say.

"Hello Midoriya…. You don't seem to have found what you are looking for" she says while motioning in front of me.

"Yeah... " I say looking over the mounds of books i've gathered on the table.

"What's the subject of your search?" she asks.

"Time, I'm looking up the various aspects of time."

"Hmm… why is that?" she asks.

"Well.." I stop for a second considering how much I should tell her "I'm curious about what abilities a Time Quirk could possess."

"Well that's…. weird" she says while looking at me strangely.

"Yeah…." I say scratching my head.

"Well, how about this. I'll help you brainstorm Ideas."

"Really!?" I almost yell out.

"Shhhh, we are in the library Midoriya."

"Sorry" I apologize while blushing a bit embarrassed.

"Why don't we put away all the books you've piled on the table" she says while picking up a few books.

"Oh thanks" I say while quickly grabbing some books and go to put them back.

We go back and forth for a few minutes before just a few books are left. I head back to the table and see Yaoyorozu carrying a stack of books.

She seems just fine, but I go next to her regardless. I hold out my hands and say "here let me help you."

She hands me some of them and we go to put the books away. A couple of the books are up on a high shelf, so she has to climb a ladder to put them away.

We get all of them put away and she starts to get down off the ladder, but she slips partway down.

I quickly move to catch her and she lands in my arms, whew….. I'm glad that I was able to catch her in time.

"Hey Yaoyorozu, are you alright?" I ask looking down to check on her only to see her blushing quite fiercely.

"I'm fine Midoriya, can you set me down?" she asks looking down.

"Oh!" I realize and carefully set her down.

She quickly moves away from me, but moved a little too quickly and almost falls.

I place my hand around her waist to steady her and wait a bit before saying "Careful, let me know when you feel well enough to stand on your own."

She looks up at me and waits a bit before saying "Thank you Midoriya….. you can let go of my waist now."

I blush and quickly let go of her waist, realizing how inappropriate my actions were towards Yaoyorozu.

"Sorry Yaoyorozu" I say while bowing.

"No, don't worry Midoriya" she says while waving it off "Thanks for catching me Izuku."

I look up to see a bright smile on her face, she has such a beautiful smile. My thoughts stop at that and I blush thinking. Why would I think about her smile?

I stare blankly for a bit before she waves her hand in front of my face "Sorry Yaoyorozu."

"It's ok, now why don't we have a seat" she says motioning to the chairs.

"Sure" I say as I go to sit down.

She sits down in the chair next to mine and says "Now, there are quite a few things that Time can do."

"Well I know about time travel, but what other abilities?" I ask.

"Yeah that's one of the more obvious ones, how about control of the rate of time?"

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"Well, Time is relative for example. Doesn't time seem to pass more slowly when you're bored or more quickly when you're having fun. Maybe they would be able to control that and use it to affect someone or something in a more tangible way."

"Hmmm… that makes sense" I say while thinking of the times that I appear to be day dreaming "How about freezing time around you?"

"That is a terrifying ability" she says grabbing her own shoulders and rubbing them a bit "Someone could mess with your body without you being able to do anything about it."

"I agree" I say nodding my head.

"Other than that, i'm not sure what other abilities they could have" she says unsure.

"Do you think that their powers would affect themselves unconsciously?" I ask already knowing the answer, but attempting to brainstorm more ideas.

"I don't see why not, Quirks are a part of our bodies after all. How time would affect their bodies? Would be very hard to answer though."

I nod and think I have to try out some of the things we've discussed. "Thanks Yaoyorozu."

"You're welcome, Midoriya. I do have to ask. What is your Quirk?" she asks with a intrigued expression on her face.

"Umm… if possible I'd like to show you and then explain…. Trust me it's easier that way."

"Alright let's go outside Midoriya."

We head outside and I motion for her to follow me, which she looks at me oddly. I lead her to a secluded place with a few trees in the surroundings.

When we get to a decent spot I turn around and ask "ready?"

"Sure" she says while nodding her head.

"Alright here goes" I say as I push 10% of One For All through my body activating Full Cowling.

"Wow" she says upon seeing the green lightning crackle off my body "your quirk lets you control lightning?"

"Ah… no" I say confused for a second "it's a physical power boost Quirk, watch."

I take off running, after a while I jump and start bouncing off some of the trees. I then land on the ground and take off running back to her, while looking around for something to throw.

I fail to find anything on the ground, so I turn to ask her " Do you have anything that I can throw?"

She thinks for a bit before her hand starts glowing. A ball is formed from her hand and then pulls out her phone. She plays with it for a while before handing the ball to me "Here."

"What's this?" I ask.

"It's a ball with special tech inside that records how far it has traveled after being thrown" she explains.

Oh so it's the same kind as what Shota niichan used for the Quirk test, so that's what she was doing with her phone.

I turn around and throw the ball as hard as I can without going over my limit. After the ball lands I turn to her and she says "Huh, that is quite some distance… 560.84 meters."

I stare shocked for a minute thinking, isn't that really close to my previous record? Then think seriously while tapping my chin, I was only using a finger at the last moment before.

That might have a serious effect on the distance, but I don't think that would be enough. Do I waste the power if I break my bones? Probably.

"Yeah, my quirk gives me a lot of power to do things with. Too much sometimes…" i say offhandedly.

"Too much?" she asks.

"Yeah… my body isn't used to my quirk since it only manifested last year. So when I use too much power, my bones shatter."

"That must be painful" she says concerned.

"Yeah it is, but as long as I work out and slowly acclimate to my power, that won't happen anymore."

"That's good…. Wait, how much power did you use there?"

"Give or take 10%" I quickly answer.

She gapes at that for a moment before coughing to collect herself "Well that is one impressive Quirk, even with the detriment."

"Yeah, but your Quirk is incredible as well Yaoyorozu. You can create anything you want, which would be incredibly useful as a pro hero saving people. Imagine… a burning building with people inside. You can prevent the people inside from suffocating due to the smoke by creating oxygen masks."

She blushes a bit at my praise towards her quirk "Thanks Midoriya."

"No problem" I say with a big smile on my face.

"Hey Midoriya, you want to hang out more often?" she asks.

"Definitely!" I answer.

"Alright Midoriya, it's getting kind of late so we should head home."

I grab my phone and realize I was at school so long that I'm gonna be late for dinner. I quickly run off leaving a surprised Yaoyorozu standing there before stopping and yelling out "Sorry I'm late for dinner, I'll see you tomorrow!"

"See you tomorrow Midoriya!" she yells back before I continue running off school grounds.
