14 First Day

Well here I am, in front of the teacher's office at my new school. I'm glad that I didn't lose my way here, it would've been embarrassing to be late on the first day. Before knocking on the door I check to make sure I look okay.

It looks like my new school uniform doesn't have any dirt or anything.

My outfit today consists of a white button down shirt with a dark green tie. A dark blue jacket and pants with a few dark green lines running along them.

The jacket folds in front to leave the tie in view, while having a few loops for a belt on the bottom. The belt secures the jacket to myself snugly, while being the same dark green color.

Ready to enter, I knock on the door. After I'm told to come in I enter and introduce myself.

"Hello, my name is Izuku Midoriya and I here to meet the teacher of my class.

"Ah Midoriya, did you find your way here alright?" a bespectacled man asks.

"Yes sir!" I yell nervously.

"Calm down, young man. Now let's head to class" he says picking up some papers after standing up.

He walks out the door and motions for me to follow. I follow him and we walk for quite a while before reaching our destination.

"Alright, wait here until I call you in Midoriya" he says and I nod.

He opens the door and walks in, which causes someone to yell out "Morning teacher!" to which he replies in kind.

"Alright class, we have a new student joining us today" he says which causes quite a bit of chattering amongst the students.

"Quite! Now, Midoriya come in and introduce yourself" he yells before turning to me.

I walk into the classroom to the teacher and then turn nervously to the board and write my name.

I turn back and look down gathering my courage before looking straight out at the class and say "Hello, my name is Izuku Midoriya. I like studying heroes and their Quirks, as well as training in martial arts."

Everyone starts asking random things until the teacher yells "Alright that's enough! Midoriya, go ahead and take the open seat next to Yaoyorozu in the front.

I stiffen at the mention of Yaoyorozu. I quickly scan the entire room and find two seats empty, one in the second row and the other in the last row. I turn to look at the adjacent seats and I find Momo Yaoyorozu, huh…. I didn't know she went to this school.

I slowly make my way towards her and take my seat next to her. A few people including Yaoyorozu welcome me to the class and make me feel welcome.

Huh… this won't be so bad after all, I think as I spend the rest of classes that day finding out what I need to brush up on.

After the last class for the day ends, I start packing up my school bag and get up preparing to leave when someone close calls out to me "Midoriya, wait for a second."

I turn to see it was Yaoyorozu calling out to me and and ask her "Hi Yaoyorozu, do you need me for something?"

"Yes, actually. Our homeroom teacher asked me to give you a tour of the school."

"Huh…. why would he ask you that?" I ask her confused.

"I'm the class president" she states matter of factly.

"I see… where to first?"

"Well why don't we start with the club activities, but before we do that." she stops talking for a moment before putting out her hand "My name is Momo Yaoyorozu, it's a pleasure to meet you Midoriya."

"Likewise,Yaoyorozu" I say taking a hold of her hand and giving it a quick shake.

"Alright shall we?" she asks to which I nod and we leave our classroom to explore the school grounds.

She shows me a few different club activities, none of which seem to really peek my interest.

She seems to take notice of my obvious disinterest and asks "Midoriya, what kind of martial arts to you practice?"

"Let's see…" I pause for a bit before continuing to say "Judo, Tae-kwon-do, Aikido, Karate and Muay Thai."

She stops and turns to me, which I do as well noticing that.

"What's wrong Yaoyorozu?" I ask her.

"Midoriya, you won't do well in any of those without focusing on one of them" she says bluntly.

"Hmmm, but.... I'm almost at the black belt level in all of them" I say offhandedly, which causes her eyebrow to twitch.

"I see… if that's true, maybe you would be interested in one of the martial arts clubs."

"Not really, but it would be nice to have a sparring partner that doesn't treat me as a punching bag…. Do you think any of them would be willing to spar?" I ask hopefully.

She seems a little worried about what I just said as she answers uneasily "Maybe, there are some in those clubs that like to fight."

"Okay, can we go check them out?"

"Sure, where to first?"

"Tae-kwon-do club" I say quickly.

We head off in another direction to the Tae-Kwon-Do club and after a few minutes we arrive there.

There's a few spars happening in the club when we arrive. We take a seat off to the side to observe.

"So….. this place interest you?" Yaoyorozu asks me.

"In a way, but a lot of the people here aren't capable of fighting me yet. I wonder if they are serious about martial arts?" I say offhandedly.

"Well you sure seem confident Midoriya."

"Yeah, I am. I've been training since before I was 5."

"You started training that early?" she asks surprised and after seeing me nod she exclaims "Wow!"

After a few more moments the spars stop for the moment and someone walks over to us and asks us "Hello there, are either of the two of you interested in joining the Tae-kwon-do club?"

We both shake our head and I say "No, but I was curious if there was anyone willing to spar."

He looks me up and down before answering "Why not, let's see what you're made of."

He guides me to a area off to the side and Yaoyorozu takes a seat to watch. He turns to a couple club members and yells "Hey guys bring some protective gear for our friend here and one of you come here to spar."

"You got it, captain!" they respond before grabbing some gloves, head protector and a chest protector.

They hand me the equipment and help me put it on, while the captain explains the sparring rules. Basically hitting any of the targets gains me points, and I shouldn't kick below the belt.

The guy they have me pitted me against is a Green belt, so he must be pretty skilled.

"Begin!" the guy who they call captain yells out. My opponent rushes at me and kicks at my face. I dodge by ducking and turning my body all the way around to send a kick towards his chest.

"Bang" my kick connects and sends him flying a few feet before he lands heavily on the floor. Everyone around seems a bit shocked seeing a completely unknown person beat one of their own.

"Hey, you alright?" the captain asks.

"Not really" he answers back.

"Alright go to the nurse's office to get checked out. Kid you win, I didn't catch your name" he says turning to me and looking at me from top to bottom.

"It's Izuku Midoriya, I just transferred in today" I say introducing myself.

"Well Midoriya, those were some sweet moves out there, especially that kick of yours" he whistles before asking "You sure you don't want to join our club?"

"No, thanks though. Can I come by to spar occasionally?" I ask feeling excited at finding more normal sparring partners.

"Sure, we don't see many new faces often enough here in our clubs."

"Alright thanks, we should get going" I say as I take off the protective gear and put them back. Afterwards I go over to Yaoyorozu who still seemed a little out of it.

I wave a hand in front of her face and she seems to have snapped out of it.

"Can we visit some of the other martial arts clubs?" I ask.

"Sure."

We head off to the Aikido, Judo and Karate clubs and I spar with some of them and get their approval to come by occasionally. We also head to many of the other clubs, but none of those really interest me.

We also go through the various standard school facilities until finally we are left with the library.

"And this is the library, if you want to check out some books, make sure to get a library card" she says reminding me.

"Alright. Thanks a lot for doing this Yaoyorozu."

"Oh, don't worry. This was fun, you were particularly impressive back there Midoriya" she says complimenting me.

I blush a little at the complement and rub my head embarrassed.

"Anyway, I need to head home now, but if you need any help with school stuff don't be afraid to ask me."

"I won't, thanks again Yaoyorozu."

"See you tomorrow Midoriya" she says then turns to leave.

"Yeah see you tomorrow" I say to her retreating figure. Well this is gonna take a bit to get used to, going to school with Yaoyorozu. well today was a lot of fun, but I should head home before mom gets too worried.
