My father's Story

By the year 19 my father has started reading books about the white man's expedition from Europe to the coastal farm of Koko (Delta State) through the sea. He read about the first white men from England who came on expedition to see the Greener land of the rain forest in the bite of Benin. The white Men that came where numbered approximately 180-200.

They were so happy to see the wonderful handwork of God on the land. The green farm lands, the animals forest, and the beautiful flowing river Ethiop in modern day Sapele. The journey took the English men approximately 3-4 months from Europe to Africa on a ship lead by a captain, amongst them where navy, army, doctors, engineers, deckhands, dieticians, catering experts e.t.c.

On their arrival at shores of Koko they were welcome by the villagers around with a great surprise and chanting of their native language in songs and dancing.

The white Men were led by Chief of the Koko village to their monarch the Nana of Itsekiri who gave them abode to stay overnight.

On hearing about their arrival the Ologbotsere of the Itsekiri raised an alarm of the possible threats by the white Men to take over their lands.

The white Men now communicated to the Nana of Itsekiri through sign language that their journey has not ended, that they want to move further to see the end of the forest. There the Nana now told them of the great Acient City of Benin and how their king (Oba) is so powerful. Before the white Men could understand, a message has been sent to the Oba of Benin that there are colored men from overseas that want to take over his kingdom, this sends a great threat to the Oba of Benin.

Immediately the Oba of Benin send his warlord and his men to stop the white Men from entering his kingdom.

The warlord (Ologbotsere of Benin) and his men now lay ambush waiting on the arrival of the white Men. On the arrival of the white Men into the entrance of Benin, the Ologbotsere and his men now attack the white Men with their African power with voodoo and slay the white Men remaining two who escape and later find their way back to England.

The two white Men who returned back to Europe narrated their experience to the then queen of England, how they killed all their colleagues with Africa weapons and voodoo, and how the two of them escape back home.

Their story send a great sorrow and fear into Europe and England as a country. Then the queen of England now summon all the soldiers both in navy, army, air force, both police, Archer, arrow experts, and all the professional war fighters in England to assemble a ship on how to go to Africa to aveng the death of her citizens and to take over the land of Benin. A big ship was arrange, and over 1500 well trained war fighters of men and women were loaded into the ship both food, beverages and other materials that can keep them comfort through the journey and their period of stay.

The ship journey off from Europe down to Africa and landed the shores of Koko, the white Men with their guns, arrows and archers match on their way down to Benin and started shooting at the sight of any human they met on the way, they killed mostly the men, and tied their children and women with rope in one place.

Before the Oba could summon the palace chiefs and to empower the Ologbotsere for counter attack, the white Men have taken over half of the kingdom, The white Men match straight to the palace of the Oba of Benin, on hearing the news of the arrival and the attack by the white Men, the Oba now ran from his palace to take cover in the nearby forest....
