Zen was covered in smoke as he was not clearly visible.
He even covered his hands with Dragon's Claw.
He released a crazy amount of Blood lust that killed 10,000 Ghouls.
It made him look like a Final Boss.

As Ash was confused by the whole situation she reacted to the shout unconsciously.
She gave her full-strength attack from above.

Zen changed his hands back and his spear came to normal.

Zen lifts his spear from below.
Ash loses her balance as she starts to fall behind.
Zen noticed that, as he quickly catches her like a prince catches a princess while falling behind during dance.
