13 The name that is Lapis

"Who's it?"

"My lady, it is your humble servant. An envoy from the marquess of Namok has arrived with a message"

'What does that old fogy want now' was what Lapis thought.

"Get done with the formalities, I will be joining in a minute", replied Lapis

"As you wish my lady"

As always I am sitting in my room getting all bored. God knows when this home arrest will end. I have studied the lives of reincarnated people from ancient scriptures and they had always had lives filled with action and thrill. Why is mine's so boring? Then again I have yet to unlock my cheat skill and there is hardly any action without cheats.

Dammit! Dammit, all! At this point, a production... even a production-related skill will do.

Speaking of production weren't there instances where people get skills from doing simple productive tasks like cooking, sewing and carving, and all that. Will I get one too? It's never a bad idea to try. While I was brainstorming these ideas the door opened as Clair came in. She had a tray in her hand which probably had my lunch.

Well, Clair is a maid so maybe...

"Hey, Clair can you teach me sewing?"

She looked a bit perturbed by my comment.

"What kind of ghost possessed you now!" she chuckled while thinking how silly sometimes I act.

"A ghost that wants you to accompany him all the time," I said as I winked. "Anyway thanks for the meal"

"Hold your horses, let me serve the meal first"

Today things are a bit different. We are having our meal together and honestly, it's more fun that way. It seems that Clair has come to trust me a bit more.

"So what happened huh?" I chuckled as I continued "At the abode of your GREAT lady?"

At that Clair clasped her hands. "You know I was waiting for when you will ask that. You were so right, she was SO flustered that I barely hold my laughter in you know. I thought I would get busted any moment"

"Of course she would be flustered. The GREAT me wrote those lines after all" I said boasting my inflated pride. "Anyone I wasn't joking earlier, I want to learn how to stitch." Cause there is nothing else I can do while on the home arrest but I left that information to myself.

"I can but why? It can't be as simple as learning sewing, What kind of trick are you playing this time?"

"Ara? Believe me, there are no ulterior motives and I am quite serious compared to how I look"

Lapis who was finally done with cleaning up went to the drawing-room where the guest was possibly sipping the herbal tea. As the envoy was from a fellow marquees house she was obligated to hear him out otherwise anything lower in rank and she would have shooed her away. She is extremely horny right now and she needs to relieve herself. Normally she would have played with Clair but after her discussion with her today she didn't feel like it. There was something in her heart that was stopping her from defying the poor maid now that she is so happy with her new partner.

As she entered the drawing-room she was greeted by the envoy.

Standing 5' 9" tall, this brown-skinned man has a passive feel about him.

He has a narrow face with a square jaw, a small nose, full lips, and his dark green eyes are rounded.

His blonde hair, layered with red dye, is shoulder-length, shiny, and is braided, and he has an impressive beard.

He has weak arms and soft hands, a lean torso with a narrow waist, broad hips, weak legs, and average-sized feet.

He has a poetic tattoo across his entire upper body.

Lapis was a bit shocked seeing the man.

"Mr. Whitworth, how come you are here. I thought it was an envoy. You should have at least sent a messenger to announce your coming. I didn't have the chance to prepare a proper meal neither sovereigns"

"Huf, Lapis my child, this is my sworn brother's mansion. Do you think I need to send envoys and messengers to come here" he said as he patted her.

"But mother and father have left for an excursion and won't be returning anytime soon. What might have brought you here?"

"Why just me? News of your summoning has spread. I ain't the only unexpected guest you should expect"

Her eyes jolted wide open at the revelation.

"How come? I did it in secret"

At this the marquees sighed, this is why Koch always complains how his daughter is such a dimwit and is crazy only at the wrong places", he shook his head side by side, "dear Lapis there are always traitors among the servants and they are impossible to weed out by normal means"

Lapis ducked her head in shame at the mention of 'wrong places' cause she understood very well what this old foggy meant.

"Anyway your familiar, I hope it is not something extravagant, if not you will only get in trouble."

"He's not, his abilities are just... just on par with the commander of a cavalry unit!"

"He?" said the marquees sounding a bit interested.

"Yes, it's a man, my summoned familiar is a human" beamed Clair to which the noble burst out laughing.

"HAhaha, I can already figure out what you were thinking while summoning your familiar" This caused the beaming face of Lapis to suddenly become flushed.

'Am I an open book now?' she thought to herself.

"Well, it seems that all of my worries have been for naught".

"So when are you going to let me meet him huh?" the elder paused only to continue, "that man of yours"

Lapis shouted, "Don't word it in a way that would make people misunderstand!"

"Sure, sure"
